Studying Medicine in Australia

General Information: Course program: 5-6 years Undergraduate degree offered: MBBS Medical course information: A three- phase program focusing on the PBL (problem-based learning) format : Phase 1 - Scenario based learning Phase 2 - Practice based learning Phase 3 - Reflective based learning After completion of the program, a one year internship in a hospital is mandatory before applying to practice in Australia or abroad Applying to Australia: Australian universities take into consideration 3 areas, in order to secure an admission Before looking at the criterias, decide WHICH semester you want to apply for, because most Australian universities offer admissions to two semesters, and you have to look into the university website to obtain the appropriate dates 1. Academic merits - Since we are doing the GCE 'A' Levels, we are expected to have an actual grade of AAB in Year 12, and AAA as the predicted grades to qualify for medicine, one of the subjects being chemistry. It is important that you score well in your English IGCSEs, as they look for English proficiency 2. ISAT results - International students are required to write the International Student Aptitude Test, a 3 hour test that can be taken in any part of the world between April and October of the previous year, and the results play a major role in the admission process.
