Advocacy of Healthy Life Style by MMU Ambala Students Mullana, Haryana: Medical Students Association of India (MSAI), a Member

Nation Organization (NMO) to the International Federation of Medical Students Association (IFMSA) has once again proved that it is the only student organization in India that advocates the importance of healthy life style for the medical sciences students in the country. Based from a recently concluded study, it is understood that medical students are the most stressed group of students in the country and what is more disappointing is that they completely ignore to at least try to lead a healthy life style. According to American Medical News, even students from universities like Harvard Medical School have suicidal tendencies due to the stress and burn out and one of their 1st year medical student actually committed suicide in the library. Its not the time for us to point fingers around and blame everyone. We at MSAI feel its crucial for us as a federation that works for medical sciences students in India to step in and further continue our efforts to advocate the importance of healthy life style practice among the students said Evit John, who is the National Officer of Medical Education of MSAI during the Healthy Life Style Quiz which was held in College of Dental Sciences & Research of MM University (MMCDSR). The event was attended by almost 100 IIIrd BDS students, began with our State Director for Haryana Ms Madhur Chhabra briefing the event and the importance of healthy life style. Then, students were given a set of 10 questions to answer, where most of it were focused on the on the basic healthy life style practices which are applicable to daily life. The winners for the quiz were Kanika Malhotra, Norren Aiysha Siddiqui, Ayaad Alwazy and the prizes were sponsored by Vkare Biosciences (P) Ltd. was distributed by Dr. Meenalshi Iyer, Professor in the Department of Periodontics. MSAIs National Board in their statement expressed their deepest gratitude to Dr Iyer, the principal of MMCDSR for his support and guidance to Ms Chhabra to organize the event and they also mentioned to continue organize more events in MM University to sensitize the students with global health policies and train them to be physicians in training and global health leaders of tomorrow.
