The wages of a labour must be paid to him before the sweat dries upon his body. It is the responsibility of employer to take only such work from the employees, which they can do easily. They should not be made to work so that their health is impaired. Prophet Mohammad

Edit- May 2013 Ek tha Forbesganj Road Once upon a time, there was a road in a town named Forbesganj. Poor peasants of the town used a little road to reach to their destination . One day they found that the road , that was being used by them since ages, was gone. That thoroughfare was important for them, for their daily commuting. The Bihar Government had sold the land through which that path passed, to a private party and it had stopped people from using that utility. The corporate greed , hand in glove with the government was treating poor peasants of the town contemptuously. When the people decided to stage a peaceful protest for their right to road, little did they know that , there will be firing , murders, injuries and FIRs, [even after their deaths]. The mayhem didnt just stop at that, a police jawan Sunil Kumar Yadav played Tandav and danced on one of the dead bodies, all this was captured on live camera. Two years later the news came that the police has registered cases against the 56 protesters including the dead ones. This, they say, would strengthen the case of the police as it could then claim that the protesters were rioting and hence police had to kill them. Mr. Nitish Kumar, Chief Minister, Bihar with prime ministerial ambitions, keeps attacking another chief minister with the same ambition Mr. Narendra Modi for being non secular. Real secularism is treating people be they of any hue, with equality respect and justice. Now, Nitish Babu must prove himself to be a real secular and give fair and speedy justice to Forbesganj. His anti Modi tirade will be taken seriously only if he gives justice to those who have been wronged brutally. We are fed up now of empty rhetoric. P.S: Forbesganj had taken its name from an East India Company British Official Mr.Alexander John Forbes[1749-1819]. His 52000 manuscript notes on natural history archaeological history and religious and social history of India can be found in his Oriental Memoirs.

Arthur Ashe, the legendary Wimbledon player was dying of CANCER. From world over, he received letters from his fans, one of which conveyed: "Why does GOD have to select you for such a bad disease" ? To this Arthur Ashe replied: The world over -5 crore children start playing tennis, 50 lakh learn to play tennis, 5 lakh learn professional tennis, 50,000 come to the circuit, 5000 reach the grand slam, 50 reach Wimbeldon, 4 to semi final, 2 to the finals, When I WAS HOLDING A CUP I NEVER ASKED GOD "Why me?". And today in pain I should not be asking GOD "Why me?" Happiness keeps you Sweet, Trials keep you Strong, Sorrow keeps you Human, Failure Keeps you Humble, Success keeps you Glowing, But ONLY GOD Keeps you Going..... THIS IS LIFE! ENJOY IT!!

Early to Rise: How to Win the Blessings of El-Fajr

by Bela Khan The early bird gets the worm clichd, but true so lets talk about building the habit that can not only change our lives but also change the fate of the entire ummah. That habit is getting up for el-fajr and utilizing the time after it. The irony is that we Muslims love snoozing in the after-fajr hours despite the fact thatour Prophet (saws) deemed that dua for the after-fajr hours would be blessed for us. Not only that, but all the non-Muslim personal development gurus and business tycoons and even some of the richest men on earth religiously practice this rising-early habit. First of all lets accept the fact that its not difficult to be an early-riser; and after reading this article, its going to be a thousand times easier, only if Allah wills. How DoYou Develop a Habit? Lets b e very clear o n this were trying t o develo p the habit o f wakin g up for elfajran d reciting from the Quran and then making good use of the after-fajr hours. Allah says: Establish prayer at the decline of the sun [from its meridian] until the darkness of the night and [also] the Quran of dawn. Indeed, the recitation of dawn is ever witnessed. [Quran, 17:78] Say it aloud. Let the atmosphere around you record your affirmation! Remember, even the intention is rewarded. Now, give yourself a 21-day challenge and kick off. Remember, it has to be a consecutive 21 days. If you slip, start it all over again. No worries better to die trying than to give up. What is your ANCHOR? You can develop habits in two ways: 1). Using the sheer force of will power and forcing yourself to follow a plan. But I suggest you go easy on yourself; the more you beat yourself up the harder its going to be. 2). Find out what your anchor is. What actually triggers your habit? For example, when you wake up and go to the washroom and pick up your toothbrush (or miswak), you unconsciously pick up the toothpaste, apply it to the brush, and put the toothbrush in your mouth. You dont have to think about it or make a decision about it you just put it there. Bakhabar So what triggers you to wake up? Is it an alarm? Is it the voice of the muazzin? Or is it someone throwing a bucket of cold water in your face? If you have to catch a flight at 7:00 a.m. and you sleep even as late as 3:00 a.m., wont you get up for the flight on time? You definitely will. Why? Because of your underlying fear of missing the flight. So if all the strategies you use to wake up early are failing, you need to fix your trigger. Theres usually some under-lying factor that needs to be addressed. If you can discover what that underlying factor is, itll be way easier for you to wake up for el-fajr. For most of us, this factor is fear of Allah (swt) that may result in developing this habit. And whosoever fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out. [Quran, 65:2] AreYou Going Too Fast? Lets say you want to get up early in the morning, pray el-fajr, recite one juzz, sayadhkaar, go for a walk, do some exercises, eat breakfast, and read a book. How does that sound? Cool? No! Un-cool! Remember: dream big but start small. To develop a habit you must start with something that will hold your attention. Its better to start with praying al-fajr and reciting five or sis ayah of the Quran (for beginners of course) and then build from there. Remember, Allah (swt) loves deeds that are consistent, even if theyre small. Taking baby steps is better than taking giant leaps that result in a spectacular failure in the middle of the course. What Routine WillYou Start With? Lets say you want to get up, do miswak, pray el-fajr and read five or six ayah from theQuran. What you must do is maintain the order. Maintaining the order is necessary because thats how this routine gets strengthened in your neural pathways. After practicing it in the same order you wont have to think over and over again, what next? Also, you need to leave the decision-making parts of your brain silent in the morning, and putting yourself on auto-pilot will be much easier if the sequence is maintained. How WillYou RewardYourself? Celebration, appreciation, gratitude, and reward are words that seem to have evaporated from Muslim dictionaries. Remember, the fasting person gets two rewards; one comes when meeting his Lord and the other is arrives on the breaking of the fast. Craving a reward makes building a habit easier. So, what reward are you going to give yourself for offering al-fajr and reciting the Quran? Maybe a healthy breakfast or the privilege of wearing your best clothes or whatever (halal) thing youve been craving for a while. If you want, you can buddy up with someone for this task. And dont forget to share your success story below!

Five qualities of a true believer of Islam (a Muslim)

In these Quran verses, Allah highlights five characteristics of true believers. 2. The believers are only those who, when Allah is mentioned, feel a fear in their hearts and when His Verses (this Quran) are recited unto them, they (i.e. the Verses) increase their Faith; and they put their trust in their Lord (Alone); 3. Who perform As-Salat (Iqamat-as-Salat) and spend out of that We have provided them. 4. It is they who are the believers in truth. For them are grades of dignity with their Lord, and Forgiveness and a generous provision (Paradise). Quran (Surah Al-Anfal, verses 2 4) Its clear from these verses that the qualities of a true Muslim mentioned in these verses are the following: 1. When Allah is mentioned, they feel the fear of Him in their hearts; 2. Their faith increases every time they hear and ponder over Qurans verses; 3. They put their trust in Allah, i.e. have Tawakkul on Allah; 4. They perform prayers regularly; 5. They spend in charity in the path of Allah. As a Muslim, one can take heed from these verses and assess the state of his heart. In his tafsir, Ibn Kathir writes that none of Allahs remembrance enters the hearts of the hypocrites upon performing what He has ordained. They neither believe in any of Allahs Ayat nor trust (in Allah) nor pray if they are alone nor pay the Zakah due on their wealth. The primary point is that a true believer is one when Allah is mentioned, he feels a fear in his heart, and thus implements His orders and abstains from His prohibitions. About such people, Sufyan Ath-Thawri narrated that As-Suddi commented, A man might be thinking of committing injustice or a sin. But he abstains when he is told, `Have Taqwa of Allah, and his heart becomes fearful. Finally, for such people Allah has promised grades of dignity, i.e. special places in paradise. We know from various ahadith that paradise has many levels and the more deserving are granted better and higher grades in paradise. In a Hadith recorded by Imam Ahmad and the collectors of Sunan, Abu Atiyyah said that Ibn Abu Said said that the Messenger of Allah said, Residents of Paradise see the residents of the highest grades just as you see the distant planet in the horizon of the sky. Verily, Abu Bakr and `Umar are among them (in the highest grades), and how excellent they are. Muslims need for the Qur'an and Sunnah

By Imm al-Haram Shaykh Husayn ibn 'Abdul 'Azz Aal Sheikh Khutba delivered 30 Jumda al-Ula, 1423 (9th August, 2002) All praise is due to Allh, Lord of all the worlds. May peace and blessings of Allh be upon the Messenger of Allh, his households and companions. Fellow Muslims! Hearts need a word that soothes them and the ears need to hear words that gladden the hearts and make them have peace and that widens the inner and outer sights. It is a word that no time is enough to say it and no tongue can give it its due whoever pens and papers strive to contain that. It is a word that the ummah is in most dire need of it. In fact, the present deplorable condition of Muslim makes the Ummah's need for this word more compelling. They are in dire need to treat this word, call unto it, reflect on it and accept it. This word is a talk about the Divine path whose spring never dries and whose bounty never ends. It is a path which Allh has chosen for the Muslim ummah to control the lives of the individuals and upon which the foundations of their societies should be built; under a shade of a life full of happiness and peace and that will eventually lead to eternal victory and bliss. Brethren in faith! This path is the path of the two revelation: the Qur'n and Sunnah; a path that has clear landmarks and pure sources that build every excellent value and establishes the greatest civilization that is adorned with blossoming edifice, fruitful bounties and perpetual good. That is the path that leads to the middle road that is based on clear foundations without any element that calls to extravagance, extremism or negligence. Brethren Islm! Uprightness in all matters and improved life in this world and the Hereafter are all based on following the Qur'n and Sunnah. Whoever accepts the two has accepted all good and achieved the greatest desire. Allh says, "Verily, this Qur'n guides to that which is most just and right." (AlIsr 17 :9) There is nothing that protects human life, guarantees its safety, controls the desires and prevents their harms, preserves the nature except that it is found in the Qur'n and Sunnah. The Qur'n and Sunnah leads to all that is good and its causes and protects mankind from all that is evil. They contain subtle regulations for body and soul, for the human reason, for individuals and groups, in this world and hereafter. Theirs are regulations that are compatible with sound human nature and useful thoughts, and are accepted by free minds and people of upright reasons. They cure all diseases, activate behaviours and regulate all affairs so that the life may be that tranquility, happiness and peace. Allh says, "And We sent down of the Qur'n that which is a healing and a mercy to those who believe (in Islmic Monotheism)." (Al-Isr 17 :82) Brethren in Faith! When the life is based on the path of the Qur'n and sunnah, that will be an ideal life in which misery will be removed from human minds and disruption will be erased out of his psyche as well as distress and sorrow. Allh says, "Whenever there comes to you guidance from Me, and whoever follows My guidance, there shall be no fear on them nor shall they grieve." (Al-Baqarah 2 :38) Fellow Muslims! This ummah of ours shall have no glory in this world and the hereafter except by holding fast on to the Qur'n and Sunnah in every aspect of their life: in matters of belief law, arbitration, manners and etiquettes. Allh says, "So hold you fast to that which is revealed to you. Verily, you are on the straight path. And verily, this is indeed a reminder and your people and you will be questioned." (Az-Zukhruf 43 :43-44) Fellow Muslims! The world of today, nations and individuals, is full of ambitions. People eat but they are not satisfied, they drink but they do not have their thirst quenched. This kind of life push individuals and nations are push into crazy movements that can lead to disability, destruction and misery and even lead to great evil and huge destruction. Do the wise men among mankind realize that there is no way out and no salvation except through answering the call of the Creator; a call by which conditions are bettered. "O mankind! Verily, there has come unto you a convincing proof from your Lord; and We sent down to you a manifest light (this Qur'n). So as for those who believed in Allh and held fast to Him, He will admit them to His Mercy and Grace (i.e. Paradise), and guide them to Himself by the Straight Path." (An-Nis 4 :174-175) It is therefore incumbent on the Muslims, the leaders and the lead to follow the right guidance and the protecting way without which they will only live in perpetual distress and toil and an everlasting loss and misery. The Messenger of Allh said, I have left with you that which, if you hold on to it, you will never go astray: the Book of Allh. He also said, I have left you on a bright path, whose night is as clear as its day and from which no one deviates but the doomed. Brethren in faith! Now is the time for self-examination. The ummah must now examine herself and her situation. She should wake up from her forgetfulness. Now is the time to review our behaviour and deeds in comparison to that of Allh says, And perform prayers and give Zakh and obey the Messenger that you may receive mercy. (An-Nr 24 :56) Now is the time for the ummah to know that unite and strengthen her ranks and strengthen her relationship with her Lord and with the Sunnah of the Prophet. Allh says, Has not the time come for the hearts of those who believe to be affected by Allhs Reminder (the Qurn) and that which has been revealed of the truth. (Al-Hadd 57 :16) This ummah cannot prosper unless she rises to rectify her situation according to the way of her Prophet in all aspects. Indeed in the Messenger of Allh you have a good example to follow for him who hopes for (meeting with) Allh and the Last Day, and remembers Allh much. (Al-Ahzb 33 :21) Fellow Muslims! The enemies of Islm are bent on disuniting the Muslims and cooperate with one another to deny them their rights and kill the spirit of religion and glory in them. They want to tear up the land, turn its inhabitants into dissenting groups, destroy the youths thinking so that they will preserve no religion nor live a good life.

Bakhabar

continued ... Muslims need for the Qur'an and Sunnah

The ummah must know that they have enemies from whose mouths, pens and media comes enmity and hatred. Allh says, Hatred has already appeared from their mouths but what their breasts conceal is far worse. (Al Imrn 3 :118) Will the ummah then learn that what afflicts her is fundamentally caused by the their lack of proper application of injunctions of their religion in many aspects of their lives and substituting the law of the Lord of all the worlds with man-made constitutions. The ummah has tried many ideologies that are far from the Qurn and Sunnah but has that earned us nothing more than woeful failure and horrible disgrace? Man-made laws has made the ummah tasted all kind of humiliation and subjugation and made the Muslims live in all kinds of problems. Allh says, Then do you believe in the path of the Scripture and reject the rest? Then what is the recompense of those who so among you, except disgrace in the life of this world, and on the Day of Resurrection they shall be consigned to the most grievous torment. And Allh is not unaware of what you do. (Al-Baqarah 2 :85) Fellow Muslims! If our nation lives stages of weakness and disunity and experiences kinds of backwardness, other nations had also experienced kinds of calamities. The decrees of Allh must come to pass and the days are in turns. The strong in this worldly life cannot be strong for ever and the weak cannot remain weak for ever. But it is of the way of Allh what He mentions in His Book when He says, Allh will not change the condition of a people as long as they do not change their state themselves. (Ar-Rad 13 :11) The Muslim ummah must therefore review her in the light of the way of Allh and reflect over her places of weakness. They must know that the calamity is great and that the reform lies only in the maintaining a good relationship with the Book of Allh and the Sunnah of the Prophet. There is no way out of all these terrible situations and impediments except by having a sincere return to the religion of Allh, taking absolute refuge with Him and having a total devotion to Him. That is the source of stability, strength and authority and the way to glory and security. Allh says, And whosoever fears Allh and keeps his duty to Him, He will make a way for him to get out (from every difficulty). And whosoever fears Allh and keep his duty to Him, He will make His matter easy for him. (At-Talq 65 :2,4 ) Let us understand the way of Allh in changing things and the paths to glory and authority. Let us view our points of weakness in the light of the Qurn and Sunnah and let us mode every aspects of our life according to their injunctions. The Messenger of Allh said, Whoever lives long among you shall see a lot discrepancies. So hold fast on to my Sunnah and that of the rightly guided successors. Adhere to them strictly and keep away from innovations. Brethren in faith! The Muslim ummah cannot earn the quality of the best community with Allh describes it except holding fast onto the Book of Allh and following the Sunnah of His Messenger with resoluteness and having determined submission to their injunctions. Allh says, This is a Book which We have revealed unto you in order that you might lead the mankind out of darkness into light by their Lords leave to the path of the All-Mighty, the Owner of all praise. (AlIbrhm 14 :2) Let the Qurn and the path of the Messenger strengthen our resolution and spur our determination. Fellow Muslims! There is a question which we must ask ourselves. Where is the position of the Qurn and Sunnah in our judgement and arbitration? Where are their criterion in our economy and media? What is their position in the manners of individuals and societies? Where are their teachings our relationships and undertakings? Dear brethren! We must carry out a self examination that will remove all forgetfulness and reawaken the sense of following the guidance of the Prophet. Now tell me! How can the life be fruitful for one who knows Allh but yet does not fulfil His rights, reads the Book of Allh but do not act upon it and claims to love the Prophet but abandons his Sunnah? How can the one who follows his desires, surrenders to his forgetfulness and follows every rebellious devil attain the much sought after happiness? A man who basis for pleasure and anger is this worldly life that blinds him and renders him deaf; a man whose heart is dead and does not feel hurt by sins and ignorance of the truth. Allh says, It is not for a believer, man or woman, when Allh and His Messenger have decreed a matter that they should have any option in heir decision. And whoever disobeys Allh and His Messenger, he has indeed strayed into a plain error. (Al-Ahzb 33 :36)

Democracy is a FAILED system. Suppose, there are 51% criminals and despotic people; and 49% intelligent and wise people. According to Democracy, 51% should be given preference and CRIME shall rule the country. Better to avoid it and let not help those who want to bring it forcefully under different pretexts, though their slogans look appealing and attractive.

Why are you afraid of Qur'aan ?

Tanwir Phool Why are you afraid of Qur'aan ? - Tanwir Phool We humans are the most eminent of all creatures of GOD ALMIGHTY. He always wants that we should be obedient to Him. For this purpose He guided us through a series of prophets. The teachings of all the prophets is the same i.e. obedience of GOD ALMIGHTY for success and prosperity of human beings in both the worlds. We should try to follow true teachings of all the prophets for achieving the goals of universal peace, brotherhood, equality, education and charity. By Tanwir Phool* There are misunderstandings about surah Taubah i.e. Repentance (surah No.9) of the last book of GOD ALMIGHTY. Those who are against it, quote its verse No.5, the translation of which is as under: "But when the forbidden months are passed, then fight and slay the Polytheists wherever you find them, and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for them in every stratagem(of war); but if they repent, and establish regular prayers and pay zakat ,then open the way for them: for GOD ALMIGHTY is OftForgiving, Most Merciful." They claim that this verse is against all the non-muslims, directing to kill them. This is a negative propaganda deliberately or unknowingly, as the verse No.4( before this verse) and the verse No.6(after this verse) are not being taken into account. The directives of these 3 verses are as under: "(But the treaties are) not dissolved with those Polytheists with whom you have entered into alliance and who have not subsequently failed you in aught, nor aided anyone against you. So fulfill your engagements with them; for GOD ALMIGHTY Love the righteous." After the conquest of Makkah (the city of Mecca),thousands of people became Muslim for one reason or another but a small group consisting of the Polytheists and the Hypocrites was still against the Prophet and his followers. They were the Terrorists ,the hidden enemies seeking the opportunity to ruin and destroy the innocent people. The verse in question i:e verse No.5 is against the said Terrorists and not for all non-muslims as it is clearly mentioned in the next verse i:e verse No.6 of surah Tauba (Repentance): "If one amongst the Polytheists asks you for asylum, grant it to him,so that he may hear the Word of GOD ALMIGHTY, and then escort him to where he can be secure, that is because they are men without knowledge." This verse tells that after hearing the Words of GOD even if he does not become a Muslim and wants to go a safe place, escort him according to his desire. There are 2 major groups of non-muslims: Those who have been blessed with books i:e Jews & Christians, and those who adore idols, sun, moon, stars, tree, fire and animals such as cow, Bakhabar elephant, monkey, snake, rat etc. and called Mushrikeen i:e Polytheists as they don't believe in Unity or Oneness of GOD. The last book of GOD ALMIGHTY allows Muslims to marry a Jew or Christian woman in the same capacity as with a Muslim woman (verse No.5 of surah 5 Al-Maaida (The Table Spread). Those who say that the last book orders to kill the Jews and Christians wherever they are found, should think that when Muslims are allowed to marry Jew/Christian women how can they kill their wives and in-laws? Marriage of Muslims with the Polytheists (Mushrikeen) has been prohibited in verse No.221 of surah No.2, Al-Baqarah (The Cow) but still it is not ordered to kill the Polytheists as there is no compulsion in religion(verse 256 of surah No.2).Muslims are directed not to abuse idols or other things which are adored by them instead of GOD, as they can abuse GOD in re-action(verse No.108 of surah No.6 ,AlAn'aam i:e Cattle) Islam is not what a so-called muslim is doing but what the last book of GOD ALMIGHTY says and what the Holy Prophet actually did/ said. Similarly so-called Jews and socalled Christians are not following the true teachings of Moses (p.b.u.h.) and Christ (p.b.u.h.) who were true muslims (obedient of GOD ALMIGHTY)

I think that Islam is not a religion of war and violence. The verses about Jihad don't convey the general command of Islam. These verses about Jihad (Qital) relate in a restrictive sense to those who have attacked the Muslims. These are related to a particular situation. Similarly Jesus Christ said "Don't think that I came to bring peace on earth. I did not come to bring peace but a sword." Beyond Excellence, Part-4: Born to Excel

This is Part 4 on the series Beyond Excellence: The Making of a Muhsin, by brother MuQeet Allah has created human beings to test as to who comes out with flying colours vis-a-vis deeds of excellence. This is very clearly stated in Surah Al Mulk: )It is He) Who has created death and life that He may test which of you is best in deeds (67:2) Every man and woman must bear in mind throughout the life that he or she is born in this world to compete with others in the performance of good deeds good, better and best deeds. When I was discussing this point with my students in one of my Islamic Studies class, one student said: when Allah knows everything past, present and future why then He uses the word test in this verse? Does He want to verify His own knowledge? A teacher, if he is well aware of his students talents and capabilities, is able to tell the result before the student even writes the test. Still, he conducts test! Why? It is to prove the point to the student and let him know where he stands. Without conducting the test if a teacher announces the so-called result, will there be any meaning left in the system of education? Question paper is given along with the answer paper. And the student has the right to freedom: to do the answers or not. Similarly we are born in this world so that we compete for the Best Reward. The Quran mentions that a part of the Reward for those who excelled in good deeds will be that they will be given a sealed delicious drink the seal whereof shall be musk (83: 25-26) whose seal is musk so let all aspirants aspire for that (83: 26) We need to compete and aspire for the best of all rewards! Goods deeds blot out bad deeds: One should keep on doing deeds of excellence al hasanaat as they will blot out ones bad or evil deeds. Certainly good deeds wipe out bad deeds (11:114) Unless he repents, believes and works righteous deeds , for Allah will change the evil of such persons into good, for Allah is Forgiving, Most Merciful (25:70) The Prophet of Excellence (Peace be upon him) said: Wherever you are and in whatever condition, you should fear Allah and do virtuous deed after every sinful one as the former will efface the latter and treat people kindly. This attitude of goodly nature should continue until ones last breadth. The doers of good (Muhsinoon) become so habitual and obsessed with doing good deeds that they will regret for not increasing their share of good deeds should death come to them. Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) mentions this fact in the following hadith: Abu Huraira (R A) reports that the Messenger of Allah said, Everyone who dies, regrets. The companions asked: O Messenger of Allah, what will be his regret? He said, If he is a Muhsin, he will regret that he could not increase his good deeds. And if he is sinful, he will regret that he could not abstain from (committing sin). (Tirmidhi) Source: https://yassarnalquran.wordpress.com/

I happened to pass through Old City of Hyderabad last night past 12 am. On every nook and corner of Old City, I saw youth seated wasting time on unproductive things. I went through EdiBazar, Rein Bazar, Yakutpura and BadaBazar; all I could see was group of youth of ages around 16 to 30, chatting about girls, some hooked on phones probably talking to their girlfriends. Some backbiting and some laughing so louder that the laugh could be heard at a far distance. I wonder what their parents would be doing, or are they just reluctant about their sons' future? I seriously wondered, if these youth utilize their skills in productive methods, they can do wonders, but alas insects of laziness, stupidity and unhealthy attitude have bitten them.

DAWAA: 24X7
M.A. Haque We regularly come across the term Daawaa. In Urdu the same is written and pronounced as Daawat. In English it would mean Invitation. Muslims are supposed to invite others towards Islam. That is one of the duties of every Muslim. Important reason is that after Prophet (SAW) no other prophet will come till the Day of Judgment. Hence, Muslims have to perform the duty to spread the message of Islam on the earth. Large numbers of people are of the opinion that for performing the task of Daawaa one must leave the home, the family and travel to different places and only then they can invite people towards Islam. May be it is one way to perform the duty. The difficulty is that not everyone can do that. They have to take care of the family and also, they have to perform their duties to earn their livings. Such persons carry the feeling that they are not performing an important duty assigned by Allah. So they also feel guilty at times. I am of the opinion that for performing Daawaa it is not essential to leave the home and travel to some other place. In fact, I feel it is difficult that way as there are barriers of language, lifestyle etc. I am of the opinion that Daawaa can be performed 24X7 by any Muslim if the person takes care of his/her responsibilities properly. For example, we are supposed to be honest in our dealings, we are supposed not to tell lies, we are not supposed to indulge in back-biting, we are not supposed to make irresponsible statements about anyone, especially women in the matters of their characters etc. But the problem is that we are not careful in our daily life. We do everything which we are not supposed to and we are not honest in our affairs. Obviously, non-Muslims are unable to observe any difference between us, the Muslims and others. In fact large numbers of non-Muslims are better than Muslims in these matters. Under the circumstances, there is no reason that the non-Muslims will be attracted towards Islam. In fact they get the wrong impression that Muslims are not at all different from others. In India there is one more issue. In most places Muslims have almost nil interaction with non-Muslims. Muslims are constantly in search of avenues to live away from non-Muslims. They give different excuses for that. One common excuse is that they want to live in places where there is Muslim lifestyle. I do not think there is anything like Muslim lifestyle. If filth and garbage spread around, narrow lanes, encroachments, no parks and open spaces, children playing in filth, shops selling kabaab and roti or qurmaa at every ten metres may be considered Muslim lifestyle, then I am unable to agree to the idea. Another reason forwarded occasionally is that such areas are safe. There too I am unable to agree. If Allah has ordained something to happen to me or my family, nothing can stop that. There is nothing safe or unsafe. Another issue is that how much time we spend in our homes? We have to travel, we have to attend to our duties, we have to visit markets etc. How can we ensure safety in those areas by living in so called Muslim localities. The result of this kind of isolation is that non-Muslims have no Bakhabar interaction with Muslims. In the absence of the interaction, they conclude from secondary sources about Muslims and also about Islam. Most of the time their conclusions are 100% wrong and on false propaganda. But we cannot blame them for that. We are not providing them the correct information as we try to isolate ourselves more and more. If we have regular interaction with them and we present the true Islam to them through our dealings, our lifestyle, our behavior etc., they will get the message easily. My personal experience is that if we interact with them and we maintain minimum standard of honesty, fairdealing etc., people do take notice and quite frequently they ask why we are different. That is the opportunity when we can tell them that we are different because we are Muslims. On various counts there are misconceptions about Islam among the non-Muslims. For example about animal sacrifice, number of wives, number of children, azaan, fasting (saum), ribaa etc. they have totally negative perceptions. If we interact with them and bring before them the true picture, they get convinced. But that is possible only if we have interaction with them and that too not formal but informal and friendly. Situation must be such that they should have no hesitation in asking questions and we must provide them convincing and logical answers. I regularly discuss issues related to Islam with my non-Muslim friends and I have never found them to be impolite. At times it has happened so that they have not accepted freely that they were convinced but they stopped forwarding counterarguments. Certainly, that should be considered the first step towards success. At least there is some change in their attitude. I do not mean that they will embrace Islam but their attitude towards Islam and also Muslims will change for better. I shall like to finish this matter by giving two very recent examples. I regularly exchange mails with my non-Muslim friends and their number exceeds hundred. I regularly discuss social issues and also religious issues through the mails. Two days back a friend of mine, a very senior officer in a company in Mumbai sent me a set of questions. One question was related to azaan. I am copying the question and my answer below. You may enjoy it. Deliberately I did not tell him that singing is not permitted in Islam as he finds lot of Muslims singing and also doing Qawwaali etc. He could get confused. I forwarded an acceptable argument. Friends email: A few questions that have been troubling me. You may have wondered about them too. Perhaps you can tell me the answers. 1. Why do temples have no congregational space? (Unlike the worshipper in church, mosque and gurdwara, why does the Hindu pray alone? Will changing the architecture introduce social contract?) 2. Would it be heretical if a muezzin were trained to sing his azan in the time-appropriate raga? (For instance, if he could sing in Bhairav for the fajr namaz before dawn.) My replies: Thanks. Good ones. In the first place, I have seen so many temples with congregational halls. People sit there and do Bhajan Keertan

11

DAWAA: 24X7
etc. As far as the azaan (calls for prayers at different times) called by the muezzin is concerned, it has to be short. It is only to call people for prayer and not for recreational purpose. Hence, it would not be appropriate to make it raaga based. Haque

Ten Things We Waste

1. Our Knowledge: Wasted by not taking action with it ..... more 2. Our Actions: Wasted by committing them without sincerity. 3. Our Wealth: Wasted by using on things that will not bring us ajr (reward from Allah). We waste our money, our status, our authority, on things which have no benefit in this life or in akhirah (hereafter). 4. Our Hearts: Wasted because they are empty from the love of Allah, and the feeling of longing to go to Him, and a feeling of peace and contentment. In it's place, our hearts are filled with something or someone else. 5. Our Bodies: Wasted because we don't use them in ibadah (worship) and service of Allah. 6. Our Love: Our emotional love is misdirected, not towards Allah, but towards something/someone else. 7. Our Time: Wasted, not used properly, to compensate for that which has passed, by doing what is righteous to make up for past deeds. 8. Our Intellect: Wasted on things that are not beneficial, that are detrimental to society and the individual, not in contemplation or reflection. 9. Our Service: Wasted in service of someone who will not bring us closer to Allah, or benefit in dunyaa. 10. Our Dhikr (Remembrence of Allah): Wasted, because it does not effect us or our hearts. From Br. Mukhtar, based on a lesson of Imam Ibn Qayyim al-Jawziyyah

Another friend of mine who has strong belief in spirituality sent me an email. I am copying here his emails and my replies. His mail: Saints emerge from the ocean of Nam.... They assume the human form because man can have only another man as his teacher. Nobody has seen gods and goddesses. Nor does anybody know the form of God. Unless a man who is like ourselves teaches us, we cannot understand anything about the Lord. My reply: Thanks. A similar question was raised when Prophet Muhammad (SAW) was given the prophet-hood. People of Mekka objected why a man like them was made a prophet and not some angel. Then Allah revealed in Qur'an that His message had to be delivered to humans and it could be done only by a human not by angels or anything else. It was not possible for humans to interact with angels. That is why all the prophets right from Adam to Muhammad (SAW) were only humans. If you are interested I can send the reference in Qur'an on the subject. M.A. Haque His reply: Dear Mr. Haque Definitely, I would like to be enlightened. Thanks and regards, My reply: There are several verses in Qur'an on the subject. I am giving the English meaning for three of them below: A. What kept men back from belief when Guidance came to them, was nothing but this: they said, Has Allah sent a man (like us) to be (His) Messenger? Say, If there were settled, on earth, angels walking about in peace and quiet, We should certainly have sent them down from the heavens an angel for messenger. (Quran: 17: 94 & 95) B. And the messengers whom We sent before thee were all men who ate food and walked through the markets. (Quran: 25: 20). Other verses on the same subject are: Qur'an: 14: 10 & 11; 16: 43; 21: 7 & 8; 25: 7. The first no. is of the Surah (chapter) and the next no. is of the concerned verse/s. His acknowledgement (last mail): THANKS If need be I will take the liberty to refer you ********** Note: Views expressed above are my personal. Brothers and sisters may have disagreement. They are free to have their own views/opinions.

Shadows of Trident: Modi as Prime Ministerial Candidate

Ram Puniyani From last several months (April 2013) the Bihar Chief Minister Niteesh Kumar is becoming more vocal about his opposition to his electoral ally BJP projecting Narendra Modi as the Prime ministerial candidate. He went on to say that the PM candidate should be one who has a secular image, in obvious reference to Narendra Modis role in Gujarat carnage of 2002. He also said that it was ok to work with Vajpayee or even Advani should be ok. It is clear that all three; Vajpayee, Advani and Modi are from the same political stable of RSS. They are all the trained swayamsevaks of RSS, believing in the ideology of Hindutva, which wants to bring in Hindu nation in place of secular democratic India. Vajpayee played his role in this direction in his own way, i.e. projecting a liberal image at a time when nobody was willing to touch the BJP even with a barge pole. At that time its role in Babri demolition and consequent communal violence was too fresh in peoples memory. Advani was the one to bring to fore this divisive agenda. Same Advani later tried to put forward a secular image by calling Jinnah as a secular leader. Kumar and his likes have given respectability to the BJP starting from Jaya Prakash Narayan. He has no ideological compunction as the longing for power is what matters more to him. Today why is there such an opposition to Modi? One reason may be to woo the minorities for electoral purpose which is very clear. For all those who wish to uphold democracy and the liberal democratic space for struggle of weaker sections of society, it is much more pertinent that Modi-BJP remain on the margins and defeated electorally. Irrespective of the calculations of Niteesh Kumar it is clear to any student of politics that now BJP is making a transition from a party working for communal agenda to the communal fascist party in action, especially with Modi as the leader. This communal fascism was inherent in its agenda right from the beginning but it is becoming apparent lately, more so with Modis possible candidature. This transition of BJPs politics and Modis candidature for prime minster ship is a signal of sorts of the descent of fascism in India. This fascist potential may become actualized if ignored by those political formations which are committed to the interests of weaker sections of society and for liberal values. The classical fascism which trampled Europes Germany and Italy had certain characteristics, which are there in the policies of BJP and more so with Modi being on the helm. The major party of UPA, Congress, is also for some of the economic policies which BJP is insisting on. There are more points which fit into Modis persona being a fascist one. To begin with more than any other leader his harsh unrelenting opposition to minorities is a ploy to consolidate the majority community. Surely this communal polarization has been going on in India more so from last several decades through the communal violence. The latest in this is that RSS seems to have outsourced some of its vehemence to the communalized state apparatus. This was so much visible in the recent Dhule (Maharashtra) violence where the police itself went on to kill the Muslims on some pretext. The polarization along religious lines and communal fascist mobilization is also being achieved through Bakhabar the acts of terror, which are attributed to the Muslims, irrespective of who does it. In this polarization; Modi is the hero of the section of society, which is fed with the poison of communal propaganda. The communalization of different wings of state is now becoming qualitatively different, as a section of bureaucracy in particular is on the same page as the communal forces. The state of media, where the divisive thinking is projected in a sensational way and the outpourings of RSS family are highlighted is a more than just a matter of concern. The societal culture, the retrograde values being dished out through TV serials of the genre of Saas bhi kabhi have their own role. The hordes of God men have played no mean role in glorifying the values which are a modern version of caste and gender hierarchy. These values are the base of sectarian politics. Modi has, more than others become the darling of big business and the IT-MBA class. This section of middle class were also the fulcrum upsurge of Anna-Kejriwal-Ramdev trio, which tried to create distrust in the parliamentary democracy and hyper projected the symptom of corruption rather than looking at the system which gives rise to this abominable phenomenon. The Tatas, Adanis and Ambanis are all gaga about Modi as he has been gifting away subsidies and land to them in a manner which shows a clear collusion between big business and Modi. Parallel to his creating an illusion of development, Modi has successfully propagated about himself, an image which is that of a mass leader. In the analysis of political phenomenon of fascism in India one knew that fascist onslaught is led by a mass charismatic leader. Now with the help of self generated propaganda and supported by the big business Modi has filled that gap. The parties like Congress also have tried to work towards an authoritarian state, trying to restrict democratic ethos. In contrast Modi is a living embodiment of totalitarianism, wanting to abolish any dissent and liberal space. Seeing the pattern of politics prevalent in Gujarat one knows the total dominance of Modi, where the opposition to the mass leader cannot survive in any form. Many a friends try to confuse between authoritarian regimes and totalitarian fascism. Earlier many political streams tried to label the emergency regime (Indira Gandhi 1975) as a fascist one. The mistake in that is that emergency was not a product of mass movement, which the BJP-Modi led movement is. Modi seems to be filling the missing slot of the mass charismatic leader in Indian scenario. Whatever be the reasons for Niteesh Kumar to oppose Modi, we need to realize that yes Modi is different in todays context. Ashish Nandy was very accurate when he said that Modi has a classic fascist persona. Nandy had also written an article 'Blame the middle class, that again sums up the class base of Modi and the looming fascism in India. Still the game is not lost. The unevenness of Indian political scenario is a saving grace against the homogenizing totalitarian politics of Modi and company. The regional

Shadows of Trident: Modi as Prime Ministerial Candidate

diversity and struggles of democratic and oppressed sections is the major force which can halt the march of Communal Fascism with Modi as the leader. The point however is; will this be actualized in practice as the role of Congress has been very suspect as for as secular values is concerned. In popular imagination Congress is held responsible for the anti Sikh violence of 1984, which is true. It is also true that Congress has indulged in opportunism as for as secular values are concerned, and BJPModi are clever enough to capitalize on that. Irrespective of the party affiliations and shades, one thing is sure that unlike other electoral formations, which are fairly opportunist in different degrees and do compromise as for as secular values is concerned. Still none of these should be compared with BJP-Modi as the latter are the electoral wing of RSS, the organization wedded to the agenda of fascist Hindu Rashtra. Unfortunately currently many a countries are witnessing the fascist streaks in the garb of politics in the name of religion, Islamo-fascism being another such tendency which has been trampling our neighboring countries. We need to realize that democracy has no substitute. The politics masquerading in the name of religion is a sure recipe for the destruction of democratic edifice in the country. In India the other point to note is that here this fascism has been growing at a comparatively slower pace, which may distract our analysis from its real character. It is in tune with this that critics of Hindutve fascism are labeled as being anti Hindus, that is a propaganda which appeals to the raw religiosity of section of society. Its time that all democratic elements form a united front to thwart to fascist onslaught on the country, if the country is to be saved from long dark tunnel of totalitarian politics represented by Narendra Modi and his ilk. www.pluralindia.com response only to ram.puniyani@gmail.com Bakhabar

How to Deal with Discouragement

<http://www.howtotalkwithconfidence.com/> How to Deal with Discouragement and Develop Exceptional People Skills by Peter Murphy Ever feel like giving up? Do you ever feel so discouraged that even one more day of frustration will be too much to handle? Everyone gets discouraged at times however there are a number of key differences between people who keep on going and those who give up: open your mouth and ask? For example, say there is a person in your community you just cannot get along with. Find some people who have a good rapport with that difficult person and get their input. You may have the wrong end of the stick for some reason and as a result you cannot get anywhere with that person. But with the right outlook you may have no problem getting rapport. You may never know what to do unless you ask! The same holds true for developing exceptional people skills - there are strategies, techniques and principles that will for anyone. You need to make it your mission to discover this information and then use it to transform your people skills.

1. Focus OnYour Goal Not OnYour Problems

One of my mentors is a highly successful property developer and he loves solving problems. All day long he can take on one problem after the next and just keep going. Whether he is handling awkward people, dealing with bureaucracies or winning people over to his way of doing things - in each case he persists until others agree with him. How does he do this when most people would feel overwhelmed? He understands the importance of focus. He never loses sight of his goals and his goals so excite him that problems are nothing more than stepping stones to the achievement of his outcomes. If you sometimes feeling discouraged because of your people skills it is very likely because your focus is on what has not worked: your setbacks and your fears. Discipline your mind to focus on your goals and discouragement will fade into the background. Expect to improve your people skills by trying new things and to find out what works by making mistakes. Then keep adjusting your approach until you get the results you want. I went from being shy with people to developing confidence and charm by trying new approaches day after day until I found what worked for me. It is only because I knew what my goal was that I was able to deal with the frustrations and discouragement along the way.You can do the same.

3. Learn HowYour Mind Works

Once you take charge of your thoughts and your emotions you will be able to deal with whatever challenges come your way. Until that happens you will always be at the mercy of the ups and downs of life. The most valuable gift you can give yourself is the ability to master your emotional state. The moment I finally understood how to do this was the day my life changed forever. I discovered how to effectively deal with any challenge without becoming overwhelmed. Until you learn how to run your brain it really is like having a super computer without a user manual. The power to persist when you get frustrated will never be available to you until you commit to learning how to manage your thoughts and feelings. Feelings of frustration, discouragement and overwhelm are not random occurrences. It all comes down to how you use your mind. Take control of your emotional state and life becomes a lot easier. And when you are in a great emotional state it is hard to lack confidence, it is hard to feel nervous meeting new people and it becomes very easy to enjoy expressing your opinions. Once you overcome conversation fear your life will never be the same again.

2. Ask For Help

You do not have to deal with everything alone. Ask for help from someone who is qualified to help you and act on their good advice. Two minds are better than one especially when your mind is full of memories of disappointment. You will feel stronger knowing that someone else is backing you, keen to see you succeed. When you think about it. The only thing stopping you getting from where you are to where you want to be is... learning! i.e. learning an effective approach. If you do not know the answer why waste time guessing when you can

Place of Women in Islam

M.A. Haque In recent past the issue of discrimination against women has suddenly occupied the centre stage, especially in India and few other countries. Reasons are many. In India it has been on account of rapes and gang rapes of women and girls, especially from the poor and disadvantaged sections of the society. Even worse is the issue that the police and administration have been victimizing the victims in majority of the cases. The perpetrators of the crimes generally belong to the affluent class and most of the time from the upper castes or majority community. They have no fear of the law. In Bangladesh selected writers have been trying to project the social conflicts as gender issues and victimization of Muslim women. In Pakistan some activists are trying to portray Islam to be highly unjust and against women. Western media highlight those issues to malign Islam. In these circumstances it is essential that we look at the history of Islam vis--vis women and also the teachings of Quran and Hadeeth in this regard. Throughout Islamic history, women have been removed from harm, hardship, prejudice and discrimination, and obvious risks which are likely to cause death. The Quran prohibited female infanticide in very strong terms. Before the revelation of Quran female infanticide was very common in Saudi Arabia. People used to bury the newly born girls alive immediately after they were born. At that time the facility of Ultrasound etc. were not available. Even now in many parts of India the girls are killed even before birth. Prenatal ultrasound is done and then the fetus is aborted. According to media reports thousands of unborn girls are killed every year in India alone. In a BBC documentary film titled Let her die, the statistics of female infanticide was given. According to the statistics compiled by them, everyday more than 3,000 fetuses were aborted in India. It works out to be more than one million female fetuses per year. Whether we accept or not female infanticide has been present in India for centuries. Result is the skewed ratio of females to males in most of the societies. We must be thankful that in Muslim society this menace is almost negligible. If we look at Islamic teaching, the situation is different. Quran encourages women to become learned teachers and scholars. Women are encouraged by Islam to venture into the masjid (mosque) for prayers, although in some places, on account of lack of knowledge, people object to women praying in mosques. Historically, in Islam women used to work in the same way as men, as long as they were treated with dignity and respect. Also, they never eschewed their responsibilities towards their worship and families. Allah treats men and women alike when He reminds them that no one will be treated unjustly as regards the rewards they are to receive on Earth as well as in the Hereafter: "Anyone who acts rightly, male or female, being a believer, We will give them a good life and will recompense them according to the best of what they did" (Quran: 16: 97). The list goes on. We need not repeat all of them. Socially, Islam gives women four different statuses: 1. As a Daughter 2. As a Wife 3. As a Mother 4. As a Sister 1. Daughter Islam prohibits infanticide or killing of female infants. This is considered a serious crime of murder. Quran says. When the female (infant), buried alive (as the Arabs used to do before Islam) shall be questioned : For what sin, was she killed. (Quran: 81:8 & 9) The sense is that she was killed for no sin or crime committed by her as she was just born. This verse of Quran is with reference to the practice of burying the female child immediately after birth. History informs us that in pre-Islamic Arabia killing of female infants was very common and very often the moment a female was born she was buried alive. Quran strictly prohibited the practice. That is why after the spread of Islam in Arabia, Al hamdulillah, this evil practice has been discontinued and it is so for the last more than 1,400 years. Prophet Muhammad (peace and blessings upon him) overturned the gender preference, a practice he never had indulged in. He, himself, and his wife Lady Khadijah (may Allah be pleased with her), were blessed with four daughters, all of whom they cherished dearly despite the overwhelming ill-feelings harboured by the non-Muslims toward daughters at that point in time. Islam not only prohibits female infanticide, but it forbids all types of infanticide, irrespective of whether the infant is a male or female. Kill not your children on a plea of want. We provide sustenance for you and for them. Come not near shameful deeds, whether open or secret. Take not life which Allah has made sacred. (Quran: 6: 151). A similar guidance is repeated in the verse: Kill not your children for fear of want: We shall provide sustenance for them as well as for you. Verily the killing of them is a great sin. (Quran: 17:31). Islam not only prohibits female infanticide but also rebukes the thought of rejoicing on the news of birth of a male child and not rejoicing on the news of the birth of a female child. When news is brought to one of them of (the birth of) a female (child), his face darkness, and he is filled with inward grief! With shame does he hide himself from his people, because of the bad news he has had! Shall he retain it on (sufferance) the choice they decide on? (Quran: 16:5859) In Islam the girl child is entitled to support, and upbringing and good treatment. According to an authentic hadeeth, Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) said, Anyone who brings up two daughters properly they will be very close to me on the day of Judgment. According to another hadeeth, whoever brings up two daughters properly and treats them kindly and justly shall enter paradise. There should be no partiality in bringing up of sons and daughters. Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) always spoke about justice and kindness towards a child whether it is a daughter or a son. Once a person in the presence of Prophet Muhammad (Pbuh) kissed his son and put him on his lap and did not do the same for his daughter who was with him. The Prophet (Pbuh) objected and told the man that he was being unjust and that he should have also kissed his daughter and placed her on the other lap. The Prophet (Pbuh) not only preached about equal justice to sons and daughters but also practised it himself.

15 Things to give up to be happy

by FinerMinds Team
The following article was written by one of our very own Mindvalley Team members, Dana, and is a piece from the heart. After receiving an astounding 318,000 shares we felt that it was only fair to share this with you so you too can identify the 15 practices, beliefs and habits that may be preventing you from being happy. The article is a little longer than usual but it is seasoned with powerful insights and peppered with inspirational quotes. Enjoy! Here is a list of 15 things, which, if you give up on them, will make your life a lot easier and you'll feel much, much happier. We hold on to so many things that cause us a great deal of pain, stress and suffering and instead of letting them all go and allowing ourselves to be stress-free and happy, we cling on to them. Well, not anymore. Starting today, we will give up on all those things that no longer serve us, and we will embrace change. Ready? Here we go! 1. Give up your need to always be right. There are so many of us who can't stand the idea of being wrong wanting to always be right even at the risk of ending great relationships or causing a great deal of stress and pain for us and for others. It's just not worth it. Whenever you feel the urgent need to jump into a fight over who is right and who is wrong, ask yourself this question from Dr. Wayne Dyer: Would I rather be right, or would I rather be kind? What difference will that make? Is your ego really that big? 2. Give up your need for control. Be willing to give up your need to always control everything that happens to you and around you situations, events, people, etc. Whether they are loved ones, coworkers, or just strangers you meet on the street just allow them to be. Allow everything and everyone to be just as they are and you will see how much better will that make you feel. By letting it go, it all gets done. The world is won by those who let it go. But when you try and try. The world is beyond winning. Lao Tzu 3. Give up on blame. Give up on your need to blame others for what you have or don't have, for what you feel or don't feel. Stop giving your powers away and start taking responsibility for your life. 4. Give up your self-defeating self-talk. Oh my. How many people are hurting themselves because of their negative, polluted and repetitive self-defeating mindset? Don't believe everything that your mind is telling you especially if it's negative and selfdefeating. You are better than that. The mind is a superb instrument if used rightly. Used wrongly, however, it becomes very destructive. Eckhart Tolle 5. Give up your limiting beliefs about what you can or cannot do, about what is possible or impossible. From now on, you are no longer going to allow your limiting beliefs to keep you stuck in the wrong place. Spread your wings and fly! A belief is not an idea held by the mind, it is an idea that holds the mind. Elly Roselle 6. Give up complaining. Give up your constant need to complain about those many, many, maaany things people, situations and events that make you unhappy, sad and depressed. Nobody can make you unhappy, no situation can make you sad or miserable unless you allow it to. It's not the situation that triggers those feelings in you, but how you choose to look at it. Never underestimate the power of positive thinking. 7. Give up the luxury of criticism. Give up your need to criticize things, events or people that are different than you. We are all different, yet we are all the same. We all want to be happy, we all want to love and be loved and we all want to be understood. We all want something, and something is wished by us all. 8. Give up your need to impress others. Stop trying so hard to be something that you're not just to make others like you. It doesn't work this way. The moment you stop trying so hard to be something that you're not, the moment you take of all your masks, the moment you accept and embrace the real you, you will find people will be drawn to you, effortlessly. 9. Give up your resistance to change. Change is good. Change will help you move from A to B. Change will help you make improvements in your life and also the lives of those around you. Follow your bliss, embrace change don't resist it. Follow your bliss and the universe will open doors for you where there were only walls. Joseph Campbell 10. Give up labels. Stop labeling the things, people or events that you don't understand as being weird or different and try opening your mind, little by little. Minds only work when open. The highest form of ignorance is when you reject something you don't know anything about. Dr. Wayne Dyer 11. Give up on your fears. Fear is just an illusion, it doesn't exist you created it. It's all in your mind. Correct the inside and the outside will fall into place. The only thing we have to fear, is fear itself. Franklin D. Roosevelt 12. Give up your excuses. . A lot of times we limit ourselves because of the many excuses we use. Instead of growing and working on improving ourselves and our lives, we get stuck and lie to ourselves, using all kind of excuses excuses that 99.9% of the time, are not even real. 13. Give up the past. I know, I know. This one's hard. Especially when the past looks so much better than the present and the future looks so frightening. But, you have to take into consideration the fact that the present moment is all you have and all you will ever have. The past you are now longing for the past that you are now dreaming about was ignored by you when it was present. Stop deluding yourself. Be present in everything you do and enjoy life. After all, life is a journey not a destination. Have a clear vision for the future, prepare yourself, but always be present

L i v i n g w i t h O t h e r s : B i o d i v e r s i t y a r o u n d u s
The year 2010 was declared by the UN as the Year of Biodiversity. Reason was that the Earths biodiversity is being eroded very fast. With every passing day some organisms disappear from the Earth. No doubt, disappearance of species has been going on since life originated on the Earth. But during last few centuries the rate has multiplied due to the Human Factor. We are forcing the living organisms to extinction. The IUCN (International Union for Conservation of Nature) has compiled the Red Data Book which is updated regularly. The Red Data Book lists over 40,000 species of animals and plants which are under threat to extinction. The point of concern is that presently the world is losing species at up to 10,000 times the natural rate of extinction. This rate is alarming as it is more than what resulted in the extinction of dinosaurs about 65 million years ago. According to the Global Biodiversity Assessment the extinction of species since the year 1600 has occurred at 50 to 100 times the average natural estimated rate. It is expected to rise to 1000 to 10000 times the natural rate in near future. Obviously, it will be catastrophic. The biodiversity present around us will be eroded fast and we very well know that a species once extinct never comes back. The issue is that people talk about biodiversity but most of them do not understand what biodiversity is. If we look around us we find that large variety of plants, animals, microorganisms exist. But microorganisms are too small to be visible to the naked eye. These can be seen only through microscopes. But their existence is evident. For example, if we leave the milk uncared, it gets spoiled on account of certain bacteria growing in the milk. Similarly, when we prepare curd or yoghurt, we add some curd or yoghurt to the milk and leave it. Bacteria present in the added material, which are invisible to the naked eye, multiply and the entire milk gets converted into curd or yoghurt. Similarly, fermentation of molasses or sugar syrup produces alcohol. Yeast, a microscopic fungus, is responsible. Palm tree sap which collects during the night and is taken out in the morning is sweet. During night the temperature is low and the yeast cells are unable to do fermentation. Sap, which collects during the day is not sweet. It contains high percentage of alcohol. It is used for intoxication and is called toddy. During the day the temperature rises and the yeast cells become active. Sugar present in the sap converts into alcohol. But the yeast cells are not visible to the naked eye. Same yeast causes fermentation in dough which results in fluffiness of breads. As these organisms grow better in warmer conditions, the activity is faster in summer as compared to winter. Several types of diseases and infections are also caused by the microorganisms. This is the reason that we only see the symptoms and not the causal organisms. One common example is tuberculosis (TB). Other common examples are diarrhea, cholera, dysentery, malaria etc. Biodiversity is a big asset for India. But large numbers of Indian species are listed in the Red Data Book. They may become extinct any time. The issue of concern is that unexpected species are under severe threat. One example which was in limelight recently is the Indian Whiterumped Vulture. There was no obvious reason for the threat. Later it was found that the main factor has been the use of veterinary drug Dicofenac. The chemical accumulates in the body of domestic animals. When they die and the carcass is left for scavenging, the vultures feed upon them. The chemical accumulates in the vultures body and results in kidney failure leading to their death. The other well known example is of the Great Indian Bustard. This bird is found in a restricted area in Gujarat and Rajasthan. During the last few decades the population of this bird has been falling on account of habitat destruction, associated with occasional hunting. Indian Cheetah became extinct in the middle of the last century. We are aware about the Asiatic lion which used to roam from Greece to India till about few centuries back. Now, it is restricted to a small area in Gujarat. That too could be possible because the Nawaab of Junagarh protected the then remaining few lions. Himalayan quail is totally extinct, last seen in 1876. Its habitat was in the foothills of the western Himalayas. P i n k headed duck is also considered extinct. The last duck was killed in north Bihar. Asiatic two horned rhino which was found earlier is no more in In dia an d Bangladesh . Now there are reports o f increased poaching of leopards in t h e country. During 2009 as many as 290 leopards were killed in the country. Wildlife enthusiasts are of the view that about 500 animals are killed annually. Reason is that leopard body parts are suitable substitute for tiger body parts for use in traditional medicines. Also, leopard skin fetches good price. Taking into account the importance of biodiversity at global level and more so for India, sometime back the Publications Division, Ministry of Information and Broadcasting, Govt. of India asked me to write a book on Biodiversity. Their aim was to bring a book on this important subject, which could be useful for general readers as well as for those who had knowledge on the subject. Certainly, it was a challenge for me as the subject was of technical/scientific nature. To make it comprehensible for all could be difficult. However, I started working on the project and to my delight the book was approved by the Publications Division. It is now published. Title of the Book is: Living with Others, Biodiversity around us. The book is available from the Sales Centres of the Publication Division. Also, the Publications Division has Agents in different cities and towns. The list is available on their website. Price of the book is Rs. 190/-.

Our journey to the day of resurrection

PART-XX
Gheyas S Mahfoz Hashmi, Jeddah (hgheyas@albatool.com.sa) Continued from Mar 2013 Sorry for not writing In Mar 2013 due to some problem afflicted to my PC. In Feb issue a stage before entry to Jannah (Heaven) was explained. All are aware of Heaven and Hell. Before touching this topic let us discuss the fate of those Muslims who fail to secure passing marks to qualify Jannah. Where they will be? They will be in Hell for their bad deeds (We seek refuge with Allah from Hell Fire). Shafat (Mediation): Grand Shafat was discussed earlier which was related to the commencement of proceedings of what a man earned in this world, i.e. (Hisab wa Kitab). The second Shafat which is called small mediation is for those who are in Hell for their evil deeds. Our prophet (s) will again intercede with Allah (ST) for their nation who has been sent to Hell for their cardinal sins. Martyrs, Pious people and Children will mediate for small sin or for better ranking in Jannah. There are 4 kinds of people of Jannah:1. One who will be awarded Jannah without Hisab wa Kitab.(no questioning about deeds as they will have good deeds predominantly) 2. One who will be awarded Jannah by taking light Hisab wa Kitab (light questioning as they will be good people having little bad deeds which will be forgiven by Allah with His grace). 3. One who is saved but the Fire will catch him for their bad deeds. 4. One who have been having bad deeds and good deeds in equal quantity. They will be in a place that falls between Hell & Heaven (Ahle Araf). The 3rd stage believers will not be permanent dweller of Hell and they will not be punished similar to non-believers. Every prophet has presented their special supplication for their nation in this world but our prophet (S) kept it for this day which will be in the form of Mediation for those Muslims who have not done any kind of Shirk. The following is the saying of the prophet (S) about the intercession:I will ask my Lords permission to enter His House and then I will be permitted. When I see Him I will fall down in prostration before Him, and He will leave me (in prostration) as long as He will, and then He will say, O Muhammad, lift up your head and speak, for you will be listened to, and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted, and ask (for anything) for it will be granted: Then I will raise my head and glorify my Lord with certain praises which He has taught me. Allah will put a limit for me (to intercede for a certain type of people) I will take them out and make them enter Paradise. (Qatada said: I heard Anas saying that), the Prophet said, I will go out and take them out of Hell (Fire) and let them enter Paradise, and then I will return and ask my Lord for permission to enter His Bakhabar House and I will be permitted. When I will see Him I will fall down in prostration before Him and He will leave me in prostration as long as He will let me (in that state), and then He will say, O Muhammad, raise your head and speak, for you will be listened to, and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted, and ask, your request will be granted. The Prophet added, So I will raise my head and glorify and praise Him as He has taught me. Then I will intercede and He will put a limit for me (to intercede for a certain type of people). I will take them out and let them enter Paradise. (Qatada added: I heard Anas saying that) the Prophet said, I will go out and take them out of Hell (Fire) and let them enter Paradise, and I will return for the third time and will ask my Lord for permission to enter His house, and I will be allowed to enter. When I see Him, I will fall down in prostration before Him, and will remain in prostration as long as He will, and then He will say, Raise your head, O Muhammad, and speak, for you will be listened to, and intercede, for your intercession will be accepted, and ask, for your request will be granted. So I will raise my head and praise Allah as He has taught me and then I will intercede and He will put a limit for me (to intercede for a certain type of people). I will take them out and let them enter Paradise. (Qatada said: I heard Anas saying that) the Prophet said, So I will go out and take them out of Hell (Fire) and let them enter Paradise, till none will remain in the Fire except those whom Quran will imprison (i.e., those who are destined for eternal life in the fire). The narrator then recited the Verse: It may be that your Lord will raise you to a Station of Praise and Glory. (17.79) The narrator added: This is the Station of Praise and Glory which Allah has promised to your Prophet. to be continued, Allah willing.

Bihar Anjumans Patna chapter appeals to HRD minister to revoke the decision to cancel the exam centre at Darbhanga (Bihar) for admissions to MANUU Polytechnic
Respected Dr. M. Mangapati Pallam Raju Minister of Human Resource Development Government of India , New Delhi. Subject: Cancellation of exam centre at Darbhanga (Bihar) for admission to MANUU Polytechnic Sir, With due regards, we like to bring forth some facts for your kind consideration: (1): Sachar Committee Report & Status of Follow up Action (as on 31.01.2013) reads as: The Government of India took several decisions on the recommendations of the Sachar Committee and a statement in this regard was laid in both Houses of Parliament on 31.8.2007. Ministry/Department-wise status of follow up action on implementation of recommendations of Sachar Committee are as under: Ministry of Human Resource Development: A multi-pronged strategy to address the educational backwardness of the Muslim community, as brought out by the Sachar Committee, has been adopted. With a view to ensure educational empowerment of minorities, the Government has initiated several measures as given below:(d) Under the sub-Mission on polytechnics, financial assistance is provided to the States/UTs for setting up of polytechnics in un-served and under-served districts. 57 districts out of 90 minority concentration districts are eligible for consideration under the scheme. So far an amount of Rs. 291.06 crore has been released as initial grants for setting up of polytechnics in 49 out of 57 Districts. (2): Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU) Hyderabad has established three Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) and three Polytechnic Colleges in Hyderabad Bangalore and Dharbanga respectively. (3): But, the other side of the story as reported in news papers says that Polytechnic pass outs of the first batch (20008-2011) from Maulana Azad National Urdu University (MANUU), Hyderabad have been denied admission (lateral entry) into B.Tech Courses, Hyderabad despite clearing the E-CET 2011. The reason stated by them is that the Polytechnic of MANUU is not recognized by AICTE. (4): Secondly, the Vice Chancellor of MANNU, Hyderabad has cancelled recently the entrance exam centre of Darbhanga (Bihar) for admission to MANNU Polytechnic and directed all aspirants to come to Hyderabad for appearing at the entrance exam as well as for counseling. (5): Sir, we run a charitable academic organization BIHAR ANJUMAN in twenty four districts of Bihar and Jharkhand with a capacity of hundred downtrodden children in each district ranging from class-viii to class-x. Some of these non-resourceful students used to appear at the Entrance Exam centre at Darbhanga itself. By the grace of God, our twenty nine students are now getting education at MANNU Polytechnic. But this year, their dreams have been shattered. These un-served children of our society have been thrown from pillars to post. BIHAR ANJUMAN and poor parents are not in a position to send their children to Hyderabad for appearing in the entrance exam. The approval ofDarbhanga and Banglore polytechnic has been lying in the file of the Vice Chancellor, MANNU and All India Council of Technical Education(AICTE) since 2008.

Anti-social elements force Rahbar Coaching Centre, Dhanbad @ Baghakuri, Kumardhubi, to shift from its own premises to the home of Janab Muhammad Talha Sb. Janab Engineer Shahid Amin Sb, the founder of RCC Dhanbad reported, At Baghakuri where we were running the coaching centre we have got some trouble from unsocial elements. They forced us to pay rent for the building to the masjid committee. Although the people of Baghakuri had made a firm commitment neither to disturb the coaching centre nor to charge any rent. It may be recalled that we transformed the dilapidated building into functional classrooms at our own cost, based upon this commitment. We tried to convince them much but the situation was not in our favour. So we have shifted the coaching to the house of Jb. Muhammad Talha Sb. May Allah SWT accept his kind deed from all of us, and bless the students of this locality with greatest possible success. Alhamdulillah, the coaching centre is running with renewed spirit. The house of Jb. Muahmmad Talha Sb is about 1/2 Km away from the previous location. Admission to class VIII is going on. In sha Allah, the coaching center will bring very positive changes in our society.

What a perfect match!

What a perfectly matched couple. This marriage was indeed prepared in Jannah(Heaven). Its like a page from a fairytaleThese were just a few of the comments made after Yusuf and Fatimas nikaah (wedding) ceremony. A few years later and two beautiful kids in their spacious home, the sea was no longer so clamLike many other marriages, Yusuf and Fatimas marriage seemed to be experiencing some turmoil. Both were sincere and not a night passed when they would go to bed without making peace and amends. Fatima comes to her husband Yusuf with a proposal: I read in a magazine, a while ago, about how we can strengthen our marriage. She smilingly and lovingly offered. Each of us will write a list of the things that we find a bit annoying with the other person. Then, we can talk about how we can fix them together and make our lives happier together. The husband agreed. So each of them went to a separate room in the house and thought of the things that annoyed them about the other. They thought about this question for the rest of the day and wrote down what they came up with. The next morning, at the breakfast table, they decided that they would go over their lists. Ill start, offered Fatima. She took out her list. It had many items on it. Enough to fill 3 pages, in fact. As she started reading the list of the little annoyances, she noticed that tears flowing fromYusufs eyes. Whats wrong? she asked. Nothing Yusuf replied, keep reading your list. Fatima continued to read and tears flowed now more profusely from Yusufs eyes and began to wet his beard. Fatima somewhat nervous read all three pages to her husband. She neatly placed her list on the table and folded her hands over the top of it. Now, you read your list and then well talk about the things on both of our lists. She said happily. Quietly Yusuf stated, I dont have anything on my list. I think that you are perfect the way that you are. I dont want you to change anything for me. You are lovely and wonderful and I wouldnt want to try and change anything about you. The wife, touched by his honesty and the depth of his love for her and his acceptance of her, turned her head and wept. This is not to say that you must overlook every fault in your partner. If a marriage partner is abusive, or is an alcoholic or drug addict, or is unfaithful, or something of that nature then yes of course there must be changes. But when it comes to the little things, remember that we are all imperfect beings, struggling to worship our Creator Allah as best we can, pursue our dreams in an Islamic way, raise our families, put food on the table, and balance all of the above fairly. We all have faults. We all make mistakes. If every marriage there times of compromise. If you go looking for faults in your partner you will find plenty and that is for sure! You will find many mistakes, bad habits, and imperfections. But you know what? If you look honestly in the mirror you will see the same things in yourself. If you focus on your partners imperfections you will never be happy. You will always be dissatisfied, wanting more, feeling deprived, feeling frustrated. And you will end up making your partner miserable, and pushing your marriage into misery. Instead, look for what is good in your partner. See his or her beauty, good habits, loving or kind gestures, relationship with the Creator Allah, hidden potential, and Islamic aspirations. If you look for beauty you will find it. Nurture that beauty by appreciating it, and it will grow. The love between you will deepen like a strong river, becoming more and more powerful over time. And those little things that used to bother you so much will seem not very important at all. Allah is pleased with those who are thankful to Him. He increases His favours which become the means of comfort and respect in your marital home. If one fails to offer gratitude and reconcile our petty differences, then such an attitude surely amounts to disregard for the so many favours Allah has blessed us with. Allah Taala says: If you give thanks, I will give you more: but if you are thankless, lo! my punishment is severe. (Holy Quran 14:7). We appreciate feedback on our articles. in the now. 14. Give up attachment. This is a concept that, for most of us, is so hard to grasp and I have to tell you that it was for me too (it still is), but it's not impossible. You get better and better at it with time and practice. The moment you detach yourself from all things (and that doesn't mean you give up your love for them because love and attachment have nothing to do with one another. Attachment comes from a place of fear, while love well, real love is pure, kind, and selfless; where there is love there can't be fear, and because of that, attachment and love cannot co-exist) you become so peaceful, so tolerant, so kind, and so serene. You will get to a place where you will be able to understand all things without even trying. A state beyond words 15. Give up living your life to other people's expectations. Way too many people are living a life that is not theirs to live. They live their lives according to what others think is best for them; they live their lives according to what their parents think is best for them; to what their friends, their enemies and their teachers, their government and the media think is best for them. They ignore their inner voice, that inner calling. They are so busy with pleasing everybody, with living up to other people's expectations, that they lose control over their lives. They forget what makes them happy, what they want, what they need and eventually, they forget about themselves. You have one life this one right now you must live it, own it, and especially don't let other people's opinions distract you from your path. Preliminary tests indicate book is genuine By Habib Toumi, Bureau Chief Aden Gulf News Oldest Quran found in Yemen, man claims Preliminary tests indicate book is genuine By Habib Toumi, Bureau Chief, Gulf News, Yemen, Published: 15:15 October 11, 2012 Image Credit: Courtesy: Aden Gulf News The Quran thought to date from 815AD, found in a mountain cave near Dhale, Yemen Manama: A Yemeni young man has claimed to have found the oldest surviving manuscript of the Holy Quran. The book venerated by Muslims was found inside a leather cover in a cave in the mountains south of the city of Dhale in the southern part of the country, Yemeni Arabic news site Aden Gulf News reported on Wednesday. The words This manuscript was handwritten in 200 AH (815 AD) were inscribed on the first page, and preliminary tests have indicated that the copy was genuine, making it the oldest in existence. According to the site, the Arabic letters did not have the dots that were introduced at a later stage in the Arabic alphabet to distinguish similar looking letters. The young man, who was not identified, has reportedly been offered large sums of money for the manuscript, including a YR 12 million (Dh205,682) offer, but he has refused to give it away, preferring instead to keep it, relatives said. He said that he was able to reach the mountain cave by climbing down using a rope, insisting that it was the only way to reach it. The news site said that the young man also found next to the Quran manuscript a sword believed to have belonged to Ali Bin Abi Talib, the fourth Caliph and son-in-law of the Prophet Mohammad (PBUH). Some history accounts say that the sword Dhu Al Faqqar was offered by Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) to Ali. Prophet Mohammad (PBUH) lived between AD570 and 632 and the Holy Quran was revealed between 610 and 632.

Mumbai gets its first Shariah court to settle civil, marital disputes
Mohammed Wajihuddin MUMBAI: The city is set to get its first Darul Qaza or Shariah court to settle civil and marital disputes in the Muslim community. The court, set up by the All India Muslim Personal Law Board, will be inaugurated on Monday at Anjuman-i-Islam, near CST, and will serve to fill a long-felt need of the community. Shariah courts already function at many places in the country, such as Hyderabad, Patna and Malegaon. Here qazis appointed by the AIMPLB hear the community's various disputes, barring criminal cases, and deliver judgements. "This court will function to settle mainly family disputes pertaining to marriage, divorce and inheritance. Marriage disputes will be settled quickly and the couples will be told to either reconcile or separate if reconciliation is not possible. It will save the community much time and money as fighting cases in civil courts is expensive and time-consuming," said AIMPLB secretary Maulana Wali Rahmani. For a dispute to be heard by a Shariah court, both the parties in the dispute will have to approach the court. If one of the parties has approached a civil court, then it will have to withdraw the case for the Shariah court to accept the matter. Rahmani said Shariah courts do not compete with the civil courts. "On the contrary, Shariah courts will lower the burden of the civil courts where thousands of cases are pending and the judges are overworked," he said. Senior advocate and head of AIMPLB's legal cellYusuf Muchalla called the city's Shariah court a "significant alternative dispute settlement mechanism". "This court will decide within the framework of Muslim personal laws and mainly deal with matrimonial disputes. This is a kind of domestic tribunal set up by the Muslim community." He added that district and high courts in Bihar, Jharkhand, Bengal and Orissa have upheld several decisions given by the Shariah courts established by the Imarat-e-Shariah (House of Shariah) headquartered in Patna. Muchalla maintained that the Shariah courts were well within the law of the land. Grave-worship
One of the forms of shirk which is particularly widespread in Muslim countries is: graveworship, the belief that dead awliyaa (saints) can fulfil ones needs or help at times of distress, and calling upon them for aid. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him . . . [al-Israa 17:23] Similarly, they call upon dead Prophets, righteous people and others to intercede for them or to rescue them from some calamity, but Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): Is not He (better than your g o d s ) W h o responds to the distressed one, when he calls Him, and W h o removes the evil, and makes you inheritors of the earth, generations after generations? Is there any ilaah (god) with Allaah? . . . [al-Naml 27:62] The Prophet (peace and blessings of Allaah be upon him) said: Whoever dies calling on someone else as a rival to Allaah, will enter Hell. (Reported by al-Bukhaari, al-Fath, 8/176). Some of them shave their heads at the graves, and some have books with titles like Manaasik Hajj al-Mashaahid (The Rituals of Pilgrimage to Shrines), mashaahid or shrines referring to graves or tombs of awliyaa. Some of them believe that the awliyaa are running the affairs of the universe and that they have the power to benefit or harm. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): And if Allaah touches you with hurt, there is none who can remove it but He; and if He intends any good for you, there is no one who can repel His Favour . . . [Yoonus 10:107] It is also shirk to make a vow to any other than Allaah, as is done by those who vow to bring candles or lights for the occupants of the graves. Allah Azza wa jal has prohibited the Jannah for the Mushrik! See Quran:5/72

Some of them have adopted the habit of mentioning the name of a shaykh or wali (saint) when they stand up, or sit down, or stumble, or encounter problems or distress, so they might say O Muhammad! or O Ali! or O Husayn! or O Badawi! or O Jeelaani! or O Shaadhili! or O Rifaai! - or they may call upon al-Aydaroos or Sayyidah Zaynab or Ibn Alwaan. Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): Verily those whom you call upon besides Allaah are slaves like you . . . [al-Araf 7:194]

Some of those who worship graves walk around them as if in Tawaaf, and acknowledge their corners, or touch them, kiss them, wipe their faces with their dust, prostrate towards them when they see them, or stand before them in fear and humility, praying for whatever they need of healing from some disease, or for a child, or for help with some difficulty. Sometimes they call upon the occupant of the grave, saying O my master, I have come to you from far away, so do not let me down.

But Allaah says (interpretation of the meaning): And who is more astray than one who calls (invokes) besides Allaah such as will not answer him till the Day of Resurrection, and who are (even) unaware of their calls (invocations) to them? [al-Ahqaaf 46:5]
