Is Wrong a Right?
The leader who learned wisdom the hard way wrote, Dead flies make a perfumers oil stinka wise mans heart directs him toward the right, the foolish mans heart directs him toward the left (Ecclesiastes 10:1, 2). The dead flies of mans theories and humanisms amorality have created an awful stink in our society. The vast majority of young adults and many others believe in the legalization of same-sex marriage, as well as co-habitation before marriage. Folly is set in many exalted places - government, education, and the media Dr. Hayes Wicker (Ecclesiastes 10:6). Nations all around the world are falling like dominoes. They substitute darkness for the light and light Senior Pastor for darkness (Isaiah 5:20). The Lords Word is very clear in the New Testament about how He will give people over to degrading passions when they sink into homosexuality (Romans 1:26, 27). No amount of public opinion or judicial bullying can turn darkness into light. These who do not see fit to acknowledge God any longer are not deprived of rights, but are of a depraved mind (Romans 1:28). Marriage even existed prior to the giving of the Law. Wrongs are not rights. Since 1989, gay activists have been following the strategy of After the Ball: How America Will Conquer its Fear and Hatred of Gays. They are seeking to normalize homosexuality, promoting a demand for civil rights rather than moral acceptance, inventing gender discrimination against a certain class of citizens who should be protected. The argument used to end racial segregation is now used to undermine the home and the moral glue of our foundations. The U.S. Supreme Court has recently heard arguments concerning same-sex marriage; their decision will be even more sweeping in its impact than so-called health care reform. Christians believe in civil rights, which come from God-created worth, affirmed in the Declaration of Independence: We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal, that they are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights that among these are life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. That is not the pursuit of hedonism. Pray for wisdom to direct the Court toward the right. Dr. Al Mohler insightfully wrote: Current marriage laws discriminate on the basis of age, marital status, and gender. Married people pay fewer taxes and women enjoy maternity leave. Discrimination on the basis of an unchangeable characteristic such as skin color would be wrong, but Christians cannot accept the argument that homosexuality is an immutable characteristic. Why not grant theft or other sinful behavior the same civil rights protection? As I rejoice in the upcoming marriage of my daughter, Allyson, to a wonderful young man, Scott Stephens, we see the beauty and purity of Christian marriage. Their shower this weekend is a reminder of Gods blessings on a couple who get it right. Marriage is designed explicitly for a man and woman (Genesis 2:24). May homes and relationships throughout the land be a fragrance of righteousness.

Our Lighthouse Bookstore is hosting a book fair in the Commons from Monday, May 6-Sunday, May 12. Books for pre-kindergarten through high school will be available.
