Suggested procedures A Make sure the students understand the concept of a routine. On the board, write: Every day, I __________________ at 8am. Every week, on Thursdays, I _______________________________ . I ____________________________________ every year in July. Elicit suitable phrases to fill in the blanks. For example: Every day, I get up at 8am. Every week, on Thursdays, I play football. I buy a new car every year in July. B Distribute a prompt card to each student. Give them two to three minutes to think of some suitable answers to the questions. Circulate and provide any assistance necessary. C For the next part of the activity, the students must circulate and discuss their routines with one another. Model the language you wish them to use first by picking a student and saying: Tell me something that you do every day. Elicit a suitable answer, for example: I drink a cup of coffee every day at 11am. Prompt the student to ask you a question about your routine in return. Answer the question. Then all the students stand up and start talking to each other. Give them time to talk to as many other students as possible. Circulate and provide assistance. Note down any common errors. D Go over the language again on the board. Make sure the students have understood how to use prepositions of time correctly. Write up any common errors on the board and elicit corrections.
