Soft Elastic One Component Sealer Primerless Application. Based on MS Polymer. Metal, Rubber Terostat MS 930 is used for seam sealing in a wide variety of industries including: vehicle bonding, railway carriage and container manufacture; ship and boat building; metal constructions; equipment, electrical, plastics, air conditioning and ventilation industries; conventional vehicle window glazing between rubber profile and glass (good adhesion to most rubber types, even EPDM type); bonding of floor coverings in bus Railways manufacture.

Product Technology:
Terostat MS 930 is a gun grade, one component sealant based on silane modified polymer, which cures by reaction with moisture to a soft elastic product. The skin formation and curing times are dependent on humidity and temperature, and the curing time also depends on joint depth. By increasing the temperature and moisture these times can be reduced; low temperature as well as low moisture retard the process. Terostat MS 930 is free of solvents, isocyanates, silicones, and PVC, and is odorless. It demonstrates good adhesion to many substrates and is compatible with suitable paint systems. The sealant also demonstrates good UV resistance and can therefore be used for interior and exterior applications.

Operating Summary:
* Terostat MS 930 has good adhesion to: * Sheet Steel * Degreased Raw * Phospahated * Electrogalvanized and Hot-Dip Galvanized * Chromium Treated * Top-coat Painted * Glass * PA, PVC, PUR-RIM * Polyester, EPDM, Most Thermo-Plastic Blends (trials are recommended, roughing of the surface will result in an increase of adhesion in any case). Depending upon the substrate it may be necessary to use a primer as an adhesion promoter or to improve the adhesion.

Important: When bonding and sealing PMMA, such as Plexiglass, or Perspex, and Polycarbonate such as Makrolon or Lexan, under tension, stress corrosion cracking may occur. In such cases Terostat MS 930 should not be utilized. After application of this material it can be smoothed with soapy water. Where joint edges have been masked the surface can be smoothed by using a spatula. Low material temperature of the sealant will lead to an increase of viscosity, resulting in a lower extrusion rate. This can be avoided by allowing the sealant to reach room temperature prior to application. If substrates are too cool temperature may fall below the dew point causing condensation. This can be avoided by allowing the substrate to reach room temperature prior to application. Shutdown - For extended shutdown periods, greater than 8 hours, it is recommended that pressure be removed from the system to reduce possibility of caking in lines. Material Purge - Regular purge and cleaning of the application system is recommended, please contact your sales representative for material requirements and instructions. As with all materials, it is recommended that to ensure consistent material, this product is used in a First In - First Out stock rotation system.

Equipment:
Application from 310ml caulking tubes can be done with manual, electric, or pneumatic caulking guns. When using pneumatic caulking guns, 2-5 bar or air pressure is required. Terostat MS 930 can also be applied from pails or drums using highpressure pumps with follower plate, which have the following characteristics. The entire equipment, including hoses and pipes must be moisture tight, The follower plate should be driven by either a double pneumatic or hydraulic ram, A minimum pneumatic or hydraulic ratio of 48:1, Container centering mechanism. Application of the adhesive/sealant is carried out either manually or by an automatic application system (CNC or robot), often using heads especially designed to give particular bead characteristics. Henkel Surface Technologies can recommend suitable suppliers of manual and automatic equipment.
