In Vedic astrology, there are some Nakshatras out of these are very compassionate and are known as Gandmool Nakshatra. The effect of Gandmool Dosha is applicable on both rashi chakra and nakshatra chakra. There are certain activities and routines that should be followed during this period. This period can be equally favourable and unfavourable at the same point of time.

There are many opinion about Gandmool Nakshatra in ancient scriptures. Astrology talks about Gandmool Nakshatra in detail. Many ancient scriptures like Jaatak Paarijat, Brihat Parashar, Hora shastra, Jaatak Bharnam etc. talk about Gandmool Nakshatra in detail. They also talk about the effects on Gandmool Nakshatra. Each Nakshatra has its own basic nature. Some are auspicious while others are inauspicious. Six out of these Nakshatras are formed at the conjunction of two astrological signs. These Nakshatra belong to either Ketu or Mercury. When Ketus one Nakshatra ends and M ercurys one Nakshatra begins, it is known as a Gandmool Nakshatra. The first category which belongs to Ketu which comprises of Ashwini, Magha and Mool nakshatra. The second series of Gandmool Nakshatra consists of three Nakshatras of Mercury which are Ashlesha, Jyeshtha and Rewati.
