INDIANINSTITUTEOFTECHNOLOGY,BOMBAY ACADEMICOFFICE GuidelinestobefollowedforofferingaSummerCourse Thesummertermisnotaregularsemester.However,duringasummerterm,anacademicentitymayoffera summercoursetoenablethestudentstocleartheirbacklogcoursesand/orregularcreditcourses,subjectto strictadherencetothefollowingguidelines. i. The course instructor/(s) / faculty/(ies) should be willing to offer the course. The DUGC should recommend offering of such a summer course for consideration and approval of the Dean of AcademicProgrammes.ThecourseisofferedonapprovaloftheDeanofAcademicProgrammes. ii. Thecourseisofferedwithadequaterigorand inthesamemannerasaregularsemestercourseis offered.Studentswhohavenobacklog,canalsoregisterforasummercourse,provideditisoffered. iii. iv. ThedroppingofaSummerCourseispermittedwithin7daysfromthefirstlectureofthecourse.Fee isnotrefundable. v. Reexamispermittedonthesametermsandconditionsasforacourseintheregularsemester.The reexaminations,ifany,willbescheduledwiththosefortheSpringsemester. vi. TimeslotswillbeassignedbyorcommunicatedtotheAcademicOfficeasfortheregularsemester courses. vii. Astudentcanregisterforasummercourseifhe/she(a)hasabackloginthesamecourseOR(b)has3 ormorebacklogsinothercoursesandthosecoursesarenotrunningassummercourse. viii. TheInstructorswillawardaFRgradetostudentswhofailtoadhereto80%attendanceforthe summercourse. ix. Atleast 05 students should register for the summer course. The attendance record should be maintainedandtheminimumof80%attendanceiscompulsory. x. Thenumberofcreditsregisteredbyastudentforsummercoursecanbeuptoamaximumof18credits dependinguponthebacklog.

xi. Coursesofferedinasummertermwillbetreatedasequivalenttoaregularsemestercoursesforall accountingpurposes. xii. An amount of Rs.500/ per credit be charged for the summer course. A typical 6 credit course requiresafeeofRs.3,000/.NosummerfeeforSC/ST/PDstudents.
