FROM THE PASTOR.

"You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." Isaiah 26:3 In a flash, life can change dramatically. This is a very sad truth with which we are living in Prairie City this week with the tragic death of a precious little girl. And it happened to our family almost a month ago. April 5th was a normal Friday morning and very quickly our lives were upended by learning that our son, David, had been involved in a serious car accident. I want to thank you all deeply for the love and support David and our family has received since the accident. We have been so encouraged by all of the prayers and kind words. A crisis like this has taught me the importance of being part of the faith community. It's not only the wonderful support we have received from the Prairie City Church of the Brethren, but also the example of faithfulness in trials and tribulations that we could follow. During this past month I have thought of the many very similar and often times worse crises that people have endured in our congregation, and have done so with calm, peace and faithfulness. Paul touched on this when he said in Hebrews that we are surrounded by a great cloud of witnesses. I have thought to myself, "we can get through this -- because I have seen so many in Prairie City get through things like this." So thank you for your prayers and your faithful witness. David is continuing to improve and Lord willing I hope to be back in Iowa very soon. We do covet your prayers. Please also continue to pray for the families touched by the tragic death of Jordyn Arndt as well. Here are a few verses that have sustained me the last few weeks: "You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in you." Isaiah 26:3 Do not be anxious about anything, but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus." Philippians 4:6-7 "Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you." I Peter 5:7 "The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit." Psalm 34:18 Blessings, Pastor Tim

The stone that the builders rejected has now become the cornerstone. This is the Lord's doing, and it is wonderful to see. Matthew 21:42 Eric Idehen is a native of Nigeria, and has long cherished the dream of providing assistance to local children in need of loving families. After a journey that took him around the world, he eventually settled in the United States, Eric founded the Cornerstone of Hope Orphanage in 2006. The organization is devoted to transforming childrens lives and is now known as the "Hope Orphans. The original Orphanage is located in Benin City, Nigeria. As of 2012 we have a second Orphanage in Pujehun, Sierra Leone to serve the children there. Today the orphanage in Benin City can provide a safe and loving shelter for 50 children and in Pujehun we can serve 20 children with the hopes to build our own house, we could serve more. Both at home and abroad volunteers, families, and community leaders are working tirelessly towards maintaining and growing the organization. The mission to provide a high quality of life and promising future to each child in the Cornerstone of Hope orphanage continues to be the number one priority and our expansion to a new country made that hope available to more children in need. On Sunday, May 5th, Eric Idehen will be with us to speak about Cornerstone of Hope Orphange. We will take up a special offering to support the work of Cornerstone of Hope Orphanage.

Pentecost Offering
Pentecost is about the vibrant life we find in Christ. On Pentecost Sunday, we remember the faithful believers of the first church, filled with the

Spirit and on fire with passion to be the hands and feet of Jesus. They are our inspiration as we consider what it means to burn so fiercely with the Christ light that we cant help but spread the peace and love of Jesus like wildfire. Special Offering Sundays, like Pentecost, help to support Congregational Life Ministries that provide transformative resources and events for people of all ages. When you participate in special offerings, you participate in continuing the work of Jesus at home and around the world: Peacefully, simply, together. Our Pentecost Special Offering will be May 19th.
