Nelson Mandela had a huge impact in equal rights for black South Africa. How did South Africa and the United States work together to help their nation? C15.3.3 Global Relations - Students explain the different political systems in the world and how those systems relate to the United States and its citizens.

Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. By having students write a short paragraph describing how South Africa and the United States worked with each to help their nation will allow me to know if my students understand how the political systems in the world work together and how they relate to our country. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? I think the easiest part to teach would be reading and speaking about South Africa with the facts provided in the textbook. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? I think the hardest part for my students to understand would be the concept of freedom, since we live in a free country. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? To extend this lesson I would refer to TE 248 taking a look at Nelson Mandelas life and how he worked for freedom. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? For my students that dont grasp the concepts, I would use the reteach mini-lesson on bottom of TE 251. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change?

I think this lesson is very well planned out; however I tend to like more hands on lessons that include kinesthetic learners. I think I would consider adding the Drama lesson located on the bottom of TE 250 if time permits. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? When writing this lesson plan the most difficult part was deciding how to assess my students, so I had them write a paragraph describing South African and the United States working together. By doing so, I can assess my students in their comprehension to this topic.
