(TE 269) How did messages travel by telegraph? (TE 270) Name two things people could hear on the radio. (TE 270) Look at the photographs of early television and of the computer. What are some ways the two pictures are alike? What are some ways they are different? 5. CLOSURE: the two statements in the Review/Assess section TE 271 F. Assessment: What will you use to measure student understanding? To measure student understanding I will have them complete the activity on p. 271. Students will choose a way of communicating that was shown in this lesson, and make a chart that compares it with something used to communicate today. Explain how you will know students understand the concepts from the lesson. I will know students understand that communication has changed over the years by the comparisons they make in the assessment activity. G. Reflection: 1. Which part of the lesson do you think will be the easiest for you to teach? I think the easiest part to teach is the part about what communication actually is. 2. Which part will be most challenging for you to teach? I think the most challenging part to teach is what an old timey mode of transportation has to do with communication. I think it will also be challenging trying to explain why the telephone in the picture looks absolutely nothing like the cellphones in their pockets or home phone at their houses. 3. How will you follow up or extend this lesson? For an extension of this lesson, I would use Extend lesson 7 (p. 272-273) about Runners with a Message. 4. What will you do for students who dont grasp the concepts? For the students who dont understand the concepts in this lesson, I would use the Reteach Minilesson described at the bottom of TE 271. 5. Which part of the lesson, if any, do you think might need to change? I think making this whole lesson a lot more student interactive and hands on would make this lesson a lot more effective. 6. When you were writing this lesson plan, what was the most difficult part? Actually typing it up was the most difficult part of writing this lesson plan.
