With Lord North Street and Smith Square, they are amongst the most perfect early Georgian streets in Westminster. No. 8 was designed by the well know Edwardian architect Horace Field in c. 1909 for Walter Runciman, MP, on the site of an early 18th Century town house. The property was owned by the Church Commissioners for England & Wales up until the 1990's and was occupied by the Bishops of London.
