TRANSITION CHECKLIST (J3 OPERATIONS/C2) General Guidelines Battlefield transition conditions achieved (bottom line factors for transition conditions should "paint" battlefield disposition for a smooth transition). Minimize disruptions to tactical disposition of forces. Minimize friendly vulnerabilities. Outgoing force is responsible for tactical emergencies until incoming force assumes control. Key characteristics of handover process are:

Rapid as possible, but thorough, coordination and execution must be present. All battlefield synchronized/reviewed. operating systems must be

Deception/security is essential.

Enemy disposition/probable COAs next 24 hours is critical consideration. - Final check of enemy/friendly dispositions (air, ground, sea), C3, and planned activities for next 12 hours is an essential point just prior to handover. Planning, coordination, and execution of transition are not complete until all units are fully aware of transition (communicated and acknowledged via multiple means).
