The students will recognize their school, street, city, state, country, the North American continent and planet. The students will create a flip chart that connects maps to places where people live.

WEDNESDAY week #1

Students will create their own map of the school and label important G5.1.4 Use simple maps to illustrate symbols. They will show the directions direction. of North, South, East and West on the map.

THURSDAY week #1

Students will learn a song about their name, address and phone number. G6.1.4 Recall home address and They will create a model of their home phone number. and put their address and phone number on the model.

FRIDAY week #1

The students will learn about different G6.1.1 Sort and group pictures geographic features. The students will displaying geographic features, e.g. sort and group pictures of different forests, deserts, lake regions. geographic features.

MONDAY week #2

The students will learn about urban and rural communities. The students will draw a picture and write a sentence about urban and rural communities.

G7.1.3 Identify characteristics of rural and urban communities.

A special guest speaker, Raul Morales, from the Bureau of Land Management will inform our class about our physical environment and how it can affect our class. He will also teach us about basic resources that are available in South Nevada.

TUESDAY week #2

G8.1.1 Tell how the physical environment affects activity at school, i.e., inside/outside recess. G8.1.2 Identify locations for accessing basic resources available to the student, i.e., food, water.
