DATES TO REMEMBER June 21-24, 2012: Congress dates April 15, 2012: Deadline for abstract submission May 15, 2012: Abstract notification information May 30, 2012: Deadline for reduced registration fee MAIN ANNOUNCEMENT On behalf of the Macedonian Society of Nephrology, Dialysis, Transplantation and Artificial Organs (MSNDTAO), it is our great pleasure and honour to invite and welcome You to the Fourth Congress, in Ohrid, R. Macedonia. The Congress will take place at the Hotel Metropol-Bellevue resort on June 21-24, 2012. The 4th MSNDTAO Congress will be endorsed and supported by the ERAEDTA (European Renal Association-European Dialysis and Transplant Association), by incorporating a CME Course on Improving Organ Donation and Transplantation Current Medical Practices on June 23rd, 2012, as well as a few round tables on a very hot topics in Nephrology organized in conjunction with the European Renal Best Practice (ERBP) group. The Organizing & Scientific Committees of the Congress are committed to create a three-day academic event, presenting updates on the frontiers of clinical practice in nephrology and recent advances in diagnosis and treatment. A specific priority for this Congress will be given to the problem of the underdeveloped organ transplantation in the Balkans. Transplantation as a universal human right for best treatment option in chronic kidney disease patients should be equally distributed all over the world. However, the emerged problems from the economic deprivation in developing countries, the modest expenditure on health care, the lack of appropriate legislation, public awareness, education and motivation for organ donation and transplantation might have also been considered as additional factors for an insufficient transplant program. Well try to discuss and adopt the positive experience from experts in countries that already became successful for the best of our patients. The city of Ohrid and Ohrid Lake is a major tourist resort in R. Macedonia. The ancient Lichnidos dates back in the third century B.C. Ohrid as a cradle of Christianity has 365 churches, one of each day of the year and has been called Slavic Jerusalem. In the ninth century, Clement and Nahum, the disciples of the first Slav educators Cyril and Methodius, founded the first Slavic University in Ohrid. There are a lot of archeological sites and discoveries waiting to be seen. The city of Ohrid and its beautiful Lake are under the protection of the United Nations Register of World Values (UNESCO). The organising Committee will try to provide learning opportunities from experts, but also invite all colleagues from the region to actively participate sharing their clinical experience and research through submission of their work for an oral and poster presentations. We are looking forward to welcoming you all in Ohrid for our scientific and social event in June 2012! HOW TO REACH OHRID You can take a bus from the Airport Alexander the Great (see the time table below). You will get out at the second stop International Bus/Railway Station. The journey takes 25 minutes and cost 100 denars (about 2 Euros). In the case there is no available Bus, you can take taxi to the International Bus station at the costs of 20 Euros.

When you approach the BUS station take a thicket to Ohrid. The first bus is in the morning at 5.30 and last in the evening at 19.30 (at least every hour there is bus to Ohrid). The travel lasts about 3 hours at the price of 8-10 Euros. From the bus station in Ohrid you can take taxi to the Hotel (about 5 Euros) or shuttle (if available). In the case you cannot arrange your flight with the bus connection to Ohrid, please contact the official travel agency.
LUNCH AND COFFEE Lunch will be included in the Congress package as walking lunch and poster session attendance. Coffee and mineral water will be served at various points in the exhibition area of the Congress, during breaks. Coupons will be included in the Congress bag.

WEATHER The weather in June in Ohrid is usually sunny and warm during the day and humid and cool at night. INSTRUCTION FOR AUTHORS The authors of the Abstracts are invited to submit their work in the form of Extended Abstracts in order to be published in the Proceedings of the Congress. The Extended Abstract, including the submitted Abstract, title, authors, institutions and references (maximum 10) should not exceed 2000 words. Pro rata reduction in the length of the text must be made for tables, figures and illustrations. The Structure must be similar to the original abstract consisting of: introduction, methods, results and conclusions. The text should be 1.5 spaced, typed with 12 points, Times New Roman. Tables must be typed on separate pages and each must have, on a separate page, a brief heading describing its contents. Tables must be numbered and referred to in the main text. Illustrations and Figures must be of high quality. References should be numbered in the order in which they appear in the text. At the end of the article the full list of references should give the initial of the first names and surnames of the first three authors followed by et al. The author(s) name(s) should be followed by the title of the article, the title of the journal, abbreviated according to the style of Index Medicus, the year of publication, the volume number and the first and last page. References to textbooks should give the title of the textbook, which should be followed by the place of publication, the publisher, the year and the relevant pages. Plaosnik, the spiritual and cultural source of Ohrid with preserved, restored and exposed architectural remains from the period of St. Clement, as well as before and after him, an Early Christian complex with the rebuilt church of St. Clement (St. Panteleimon) and parts of the original monastic complex- the first Slavonic University, the cradle of the literacy and culture of the Slavonic clergy. The Ohrid Fortress - the Fortress of Czar Samuel, the crown of Ohrid and of Lychnidos. Sv. Bogorodica Perivlepta - the Church of the Holy Mother of God Perivleptos, dating from 1295, with its remarkable architecture and frescoes is one of the best known monuments of its kind not only in Macedonia but also worldwide. The monastic complex is astonishing with its unique location and character, but what is perhaps even more astonishing is the splendour of the natural beauty of the rivers Crn Drim and Radika together with their lakes, valleys and canyons, lying between Mt. Bistra and Mt. Korab, two of the most beautiful mountains in the Balkans, not to mention the attractive tourist and ski centre of Mavrovo. A walk along the old and well-known Sirok Sokak (Broad Street) where the Consulates of European countries were located at the time of the Ottoman Empire. Heraclea existed and developed for more than a thousand years, experiencing revivals in the Roman period and in late antiquity. It was also an episcopal centre in the Early Christian period. Objects of great importance in this complex are the Roman Theatre and the Thermal Baths, as well as the Basilicas with their extraordinary mosaic floors and numerous archaeological finds.
