01/31/2012 Program Admissions Committee Secondary Education Program ATTN: English Methods Faculty College of Education University of Idaho

PO Box 443080 Moscow, ID 83843 Dear Committee: I write to be considered for acceptance into the Teacher Education Program for the fall 2013 semester. Currently, I am in the second semester of my sophomore year here at the University of Idaho. Ive satisfactorily completed all of my prerequisites for admission into the program, and I feel I am ready to take this next crucial step toward attaining my certification to become a teacher. Im currently with the College of Letters, Arts, and Social Sciences, but have made the decision to adjust my coursework in order to enable me to receive my degree through the College of Education. Ive had adequate time to become acquainted with the College of Ed. through EDCI 201/301, and feel that this is indeed the place which will most facilitate my career goals. The experience of the classes I have already taken, along with the service learning project through 201, have introduced me to a number of wonderful people, and I hope to continue building my network of contacts and colleagues as I move closer toward graduation. I feel that I would substantially contribute to the College of Education at the University of Idaho through my hard work, commitment, and motivation to succeed. I believe that the most influential figures in a young persons life, second to their immediate family, are the teachers they have when theyre young. I can still remember the impact my teachers, many of them my coaches, had on me when they pushed me to succeed farther than I thought possible. My teachers truly altered the course of a great number of lives along with my own. I find teaching to be one of the noblest professions a person can commit themselves to; one which people trust to shape the minds of future generations. I have some very close friends who presently work as teachers, and I always envied the way they were able to make a living, because it never seemed like work. They have the ability to not only make a difference in the lives of young people, but do something that they genuinely love, and Im anxious to join the ranks of them. Ive made great progress at the university so far, and have the majority of my core curriculum finished. On a more personal level, I grew up in Nampa, and hope to return to teach there one day. Nampa is one of the most culturally rich areas in the entire state of Idaho. I feel that has always been an asset to the community by fostering diversity, and I hope to raise a family of my own there one day. I feel I will make a positive contribution to any community I teach in by performing at the highest levels of professionalism and striving to be someone whom my students respect. I will strive to make the community a stronger and more productive place through hard work and diligence, and maintain an emphasis on open communication between students, parents, myself and the administration. I believe that the moment a child walks through my classroom door its

my responsibility to give them the tools that they will need in order to be successful in an everchanging world. Im committed to providing young people with the ability to be a success in whatever they choose to pursue in life. As a teacher, I feel personally responsible for being stern yet fair with my students, while instilling in them the basic skills they will need to succeed in college or the workplace. I wish to instill skills like accountability, living up to ones potential, and being an overall responsible member of society. I feel blessed to be in a position to have the future in my hands each day that I go to work, and I look forward to shaping something truly positive out of my future classroom. I am anxious to get in front of my own students, but for the time being Im extremely excited to continue my studies here at the University of Idaho with the College of Education. Sincerely,

Charles A. Eldeen
