prison doors open, he drew his sword and was about to kill himself because he thought the prisoners had escaped. 28But Paul shouted, Dont harm yourself! We are all here! The jailer called for lights, rushed in and fell trembling before Paul and Silas. 30He then brought them out and asked, Sirs, what must I do to be saved? 31They replied, Believe in the Lord Jesus, and you will be saved you and your household. 32Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all the others in his house. 33At that hour of the night the jailer took them and washed their wounds; then immediately he and all his household were baptized. 34The jailer brought them into his house and set a meal before them; he was filled with joy because he had come to believe in Godhe and his whole household.

PSALM 23 (NRSV)
The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want. 2He makes me lie down in green pastures; he leads me beside still waters; 3 he restores my soul. He leads me in right paths for his names sake. 4Even though I walk through the darkest valley, I fear no evil; for you are with me; your rod and your staffthey comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; you anoint my head with oil; my cup overflows. 6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me all the days of my life, and I shall dwell in the house of the Lord my whole life long.

SERMON NOTES
To Do Justice
The human family has invaluable friends and irreplaceable allies in the plant and animal worlds. We cannot continue to tug at the web of life without tearing a hole in the very fabric of our earthly existence and eventually falling through that hole ourselves. Van Jones, Environmental Advocate and author of The Green Collar Economy: How One Solution Can Fix Our Two Biggest Problems As a people of faith, the earth is our responsibility to preserve and protect for all to share in its bounty. Mission 4/1 Earth is an opportunity to examine and change our patterns of behavior and deepen our understanding and engagement in earth care and environmental justice. During this time we are educating ourselves, in order to make permanent, habits that support our being excellent stewards of that which God has provided to us, what should we do? Think Environmental Responsibility
Our environment consists of the social and physical conditions in which we live, work, and play, including air, water, soil, animals, plants, and people. As Christians, we are called to be stewards of the environment and to nurture, protect, and preserve Gods creation.
Change your lifestyle, for the safety and benefit of the environment. Consider the impact your daily decisions have on global warming, pollution, loss of animal habitats, and other environmental concerns.

To Do Justice
Live Sustainably
Sustainability means living within the resources of the planet without damaging the environment now, or in the future. It means taking the long-term view of how our actions affect future generations: reducing pollution and resource utilization to rates that can be replenished by the earth. Alter your mode of transportation, recycle, conserve energy, and buy locally produced rather than imported items.
Just as you leave a footprint when you walk in wet sand, your daily activities generate carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases. A carbon footprint is the total amount of greenhouse gases produced to directly or indirectly support human activities, including heating your home, generating electricity, or driving your car, usually expressed in equivalent tons of carbon dioxide (CO2). Scientists believe that the growth of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere is the leading cause of observed climate change. Earths average temperature has risen by 1.4F over the past century, and is projected to rise another 2 to 11.5F over the next, with potentially disastrous effects. You can reduce your carbon footprint by washing with cold water, turning off lights, and unplugging appliances that are not being used.

Green Page
As we continue the Mission 4/1 Earth: 50 Great Days campaign, the Green Committee wants to thank you, the Trinity UCC congregation for YOUR participation towards becoming a Greener Congregation. To date, we have recycled 2,905 bulletins. This week, our focus is Transportation. Remember to record the hours YOU spend on the action items below. YOU can report your hours online at the new Mission 4/1 Earth website: http://tinyurl.com/tuccmission41earth
Week 3 Transportation
Why should YOU care? Why we cant afford to ignore this topic: Transportation is responsible for 30% of air pollution in the United States Did YOU know that: The average Chicagoan spends 15% of their income on transportation? Under-inflated tires can lower gas mileage? A full trunk or back seat makes your car work harder and less efficiently? Action items for YOU to do to contribute to Earth Care hours: Carpool to and from ministry meetings and worship services Properly inflate YOUR tires Clean out YOUR back seat and trunk Track the hours YOU spend on the above activities and return YOUR timecard by placing into the offering tray or bring to the Green Committee table next week.
WE WILL: BEAUTIFY OUR CHURCH GROUNDS PREPARE THE GWC GARDEN FOR PLANTING SEASON CLEAN UP OUR CHURCH COMMUNITY SIGN-UP AT THE GREEN TABLE AFTER ALL SERVICES TODAY For information, contact the Green Committee at: Green@trinitychicago.org or 773-966-1500 Mailbox 2385

National Infertility Awareness Week
April 21-27, 2013
National Infertility Awareness Week (NIAW) is a movement began in 1989 by RESOLVE, the National Infertility Association. The goal of NIAW is to raise awareness about the disease of infertility and encourage the publics understanding of reproductive health.
What is Infertility?
Infertility is a disease or condition of the reproductive system, often diagnosed after a couple has attempted to get pregnant over the course of one year, or if the woman has suffered from multiple miscarriages and the woman is under the age of 35. If the woman is over 35 years old, infertility is diagnosed after 6 months of trying to get pregnant. In addition, male infertility is also quite common, and can be a significant factor in a couple attempt to conceive. There are approximately 7.3 million couples/women in the United States who experience infertility. ANNOUNCEMENTS

Below is important information regarding the upcoming Red Line Reconstruction Project that may affect your commute to and from church. Beginning May 19, 2013, the CTA will rebuild the tracks along the south Red Line, from CermakChinatown to 95th/Dan Ryana project that will provide faster, more comfortable and more reliable service for Red Line riders. From just north of the Cermak-Chinatown station to the 95th Street station, crews will replace everything in the track bed: ties, rail, third rail, ballast (the stone material that holds the ties in place) and drainage systems. Some stations will also receive improvements ranging from new canopies, paint and lighting upgrades to new benches and bike racks. Additionally, the stations at Garfield, 63rd and 87th will get new elevators, making all stations on the South Side Red Line accessible. The south Red Line, called the Dan Ryan branch, is more than 40 years old and needs a full replacement. Because of the current track conditions, Red Line riders experience longer travel times, more-crowded trains and less-reliable service. This project will provide faster commutes, a smoother ride, improved stations and accessibility and a better passenger experience. Additionally, the project will create hundreds of goodpaying jobs. The work is part of Mayor Rahm Emanuels Building a New Chicago program, which is updating infrastructure thats critical to the cityand includes improvements that will help ensure that CTA continues to serve customers as effectively as possible. The project is made possible by $1 billion in state and local funding announced in late 2011 by Mayor Rahm Emanuel and Governor Pat Quinn for the Red and Purple Lines. For more information on upcoming Red Line projects, visit http://www.transitchicago.com/ redsouth/
