Be informed. Be involved. Be in reach.
Ohio Resource Network for Safe and Drug-Free Schools and Communities
The way that ORN makes current prevention information available and
responds to the needs of local communities has evolved over the past two
decades. To keep pace with the growing population, increasing demand,
and advancing technology – as well as meet and shape customer
expectations moving forward – ORN has adopted the nReach platform.
What is nReach?
nReach is a “people first” collaborative web space and knowledge base of treatment and
prevention resources, supplied by and available to all interested Ohioans. It was created as a
platform for connecting to professional colleagues in the health and human services industry
much like we do with friends through popular social media outlets like Facebook and MySpace.
nReach is…
an online community where people and agencies can come together to discuss challenges, find
solutions, and share success stories related to their programs, disciplines, and personal lives.
an expansive repository for the latest research findings, funding opportunities, job postings,
learning opportunities, and events.
There are two things that make nReach great – community and content – and it is up to you to
make both a success.
We all have valuable information to share. To properly leverage your unique skillset and use
nReach to its fullest potential, it‘s important to keep your profile information up-to-date and
complete.
Members with complete profiles are more likely to reap the full benefits of nReach. You’ll expand
your network, build your knowledge base, and receive new opportunities through nReach.

for advice, speaking opportunities, and collaboration. They also:

Step 2 – Title
Give your article an appropriate title. The title is the first thing you see when you arrive at an
article and it is the first thing that turns up in search results.
The entire essence of your article is manifested in your title, so it’s important to choose a title
that is compelling and descriptive. A good title gives the reader an accurate depiction of your
article, grabs their attention, and makes people click your link.

Select tags that are appropriate to your content. Tags are short keywords that define your
content and make it easier for nReach members to find it.
You can select multiple topics, audiences, and Ohio counties by holding down the CTRL
(Command ⌘ on a Mac) or SHIFT keys.
Step 4 – Body
The title and tags may have helped readers find your article, but the body content is the main
attraction – it’s why the reader sticks around. Your content is a conversation starter. It makes
readers think and ultimately provide feedback.
This is an opportunity to write about issues that concern you, to demonstrate your expertise, and
provide valuable content to nReach.
The entry window works just like your email or word processing program, you can style text, add
images, and insert hyperlinks to other sites.
Step 5 – Source
Occasionally you may find an article or blog posting elsewhere that you want to share with the
larger nReach community.
Excerpting a portion of an article is permissible under the “fair use” statute of copyright law,
however taking large pieces of an original work (using more than a few sentences or a para-
graph) can constitute copyright infringement and invite legal action.
To protect the nReach community we ask that if you choose to excerpt an article, you must
provide the original title of the article and link back to the article. It is not acceptable to publish
someone else’s content without express written permission.
Step 6 – Audience
If you belong to a group or groups that you want to share your content with, select the appropri-
ate checkboxes.
When you are finished, click Preview to review your content. When you are ready to publish, click
Save.
*Please note that you can come back and update your article at any time.
