Navigating the World of Immigration: How to get a Green Card and become a Citizen.

Workshops- Children/ Educational Issues

Immigrant Restrictions to Local, State and Federal Benefits: Everything from how to obtain a Texas
ID or a Social Security Number to Social Security Benefits and access to a Gold Card. This
workshop will provide basic information regarding immigrants access to housing, healthcare, IDs,
social security numbers and tax ID numbers.

Immigrant Issues affecting children (K -12th grade)

This workshop will give information and practical advice for enrolling undocumented and

documented immigrants in schools K-12. Immigrant relief for non-citizen children, such as special
immigrant refugee children and residency through family relationships will be covered. The session
will also inform parents on how to advocate and give them a basic understanding of their children’s
rights in the school system.

Immigrant Issues affecting University Students: This workshop will give an update on the Dream
Act. It will inform students on funding issues and how maintain status as they transition from
school to the workplace

Workshops- Worker/ Enforcement Issues

ABCs of Employment Immigration This workshop will give employees and employers an
introduction to employment immigration

Raids, Worksite Enforcement, and What Can you Do if You are in Immigration Court. This session
will inform participants on how to prepare for a raid, what to do when a raid happens, how to find a
person who has been detained. This workshop will also inform the audience about how to navigate
the immigration court system.

How to Accurately Comply with Employment Hiring and Anti-Discrimination Laws: Completing the
I-9 and No-Match Letters. This workshop will focus on I-9 compliance, anti-discrimination laws and
Social Security no-match letters.

Workshops- General Information Regarding Obtaining and Maintaining Legal Status

Navigating the World of Immigration: How to get a Green Card and become a Citizen. This
workshop will explore Family Petitions, Work Permits, Asylum, TPS, Visas and humanitarian ways to
stay in the US.

Immigrants Accused of Crimes: How to Lose Any Right to Residency and Years of Your Life. This
workshop will explore how our nation’s criminal laws interact with our nation’s immigration laws.
The workshop will explore what types of crimes will prevent an immigrant from becoming legal and
what types of crimes will cause an immigrant to be stripped of his or her legal permanent
residency.
