Work Experience
Orpheum Children's Science Museum-Champaign, IL Sept 2011-Present Volunteer Coordinator-Assistant Educator Recruiting and training appropriately matched volunteers based on staff needs, and writing policies and procedures for new and returning volunteers. Developing partnerships with volunteer groups and promoting volunteering, both internally and externally, through recruitment and specific PR strategies. Managing volunteers and full time staff members -staffing and facilitating responsibilities for all events. Currently sitting on the Education Board at the Orpheum and contributing through regular meetings. Coordinating and instructing Splat Club, utilizing S.T.E.A.M. curriculum for grades K-12, in an after school program that emphasizes the mingling of science and art. Organizing projects for all signature events including Wonka (and Me), Snow Globe, and Mystery at the Museum, along with planning and writing curriculum for the experimental Da Vinci Smart Camp. Childrens Museum of the Arts- New York, NY Summer 2010 Teaching Artist-Fine Arts Intern Organized 12 week- long workshops for groups of grade school children, focused on techniques for creating art in various mediums. Created and planned curriculum for 10 weekend open enrollment art workshops, for groups of 10-75 children and families including collaborative murals for the NYC VW Bug Traffic Jam and W.P.A. Led a family friendly workshop for the Brooklyn Children's Museum, focused on rebuilding family bonds through creativity, for families affected by court appointed separation. Southern Illinois University Museum- Carbondale, IL Sept 2007-May 2010 Docent- Archivist- Receptionist Experienced education while working alongside respected art researchers, curators, and educators. Organized and led 30 short workshops each year for guided groups of 30-45 grade school children, focused on critique of displayed art work, during the Museums annual Childrens Art Festival. Assisted organizing the Vogel 50x50 Collection and collection of original Andy Warhol Polaroid photos.
