Dear Sir, Sub : SPONSORING OF CANDIDATES FOR 24 WEEKS CERTIFICATE COURSE IN SHIPBUILDING You may be aware that the main challenge to the shipbuilding industry today is the shortage of skilled personnel at junior and middle management levels. We, at College of Ship Technology (CST), in association with Vinayaka Missions Sikkim University (VMSU), have taken the lead to address the concern of the Shipyards in India and overseas for their sustainability and growth. We have scheduled a 24 Week Certificate course in Shipbuilding & Ship Repair for serving employees of Shipyards as well as to the Diploma holders in Mechanical / Marine / Civil / Production / Structural / Electrical Engineering who aspire to join shipbuilding and ship repair industry. The program targets development of application skills of the participants in various disciplines of the Shipyards. The salient features of the proposed course are as under: a) The entry qualification level will be 3 years Diploma in Engg. ( Mech / Marine / Structural / Electrical / Production etc ) or shipyard employees with basic qualification -10th Pass with 3 years work experience b) The course will be residential. c) The course will include 4 weeks shipyard training for Diploma holders and for Shipyard employees this period will be used for language/ academic development. d) The course fee for Diploma student will be Rs.1.75 lakhs and for Shipyard employees will be Rs.1.50 lakhs per candidate.

The Course will be evaluated and Certificate will be issued by Vinayaka Missions Sikkim University (VMSU). The Program is designed and developed as per CST and VMSU learning philosophy.

k) Syllabus based on modular form in consultation with the industry. l) Faculties from Shipyards in addition to CST.

m) Student assessment at the end of each module and at the end of course. n) Shipyard partnership in facilitating process including practical training. o) The course for the first batch will start in Jan 2013 and will be completed by 30 June 2013. There will be 2 batches in a year. Each batch may contain 30 students depending on the indents given by the Shipyards. We request you to sponsor some of your serving employees for the above course or alternatively you may recruit fresh Diploma holders who can be sent to our College for the above course.
