HARVEST BAPTIST CHURCH PRAYER DIARY SUNDAY MORNING SERVICE TIMES 9:00 & 10:45A.M.

MONDAYEVANGELISTIC PRAYER Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 13-15; Luke 15 Monday, April 22 S of S. 8:6 Set me as a seal upon thine heart, as a seal upon thine arm: for love is strong as death; Master and King: Death is the destroyer of the human race, but your love is more mighty! I feel like I have a barely-living love for you, but your love toward me surpasses all power. I do love you, Lord. Maybe by your grace I could even die for you if called upon. But I confess my current my love can scarcely endure scoffing and being made fun of, much less death. Surely it is your love for me that is spoken of by Solomon. And your love for __________ and __________ who do not yet know youfor you are a matchless lover of souls. Your love indeed was stronger than the worst death, because it endured the trial of the cross triumphantly. It was a lingering death, but love survived the torture. It was a disgraceful death, but love despised the shame. It was an unjust death, but your love bore my iniquities. It was a forsaken, lonely death from which the Father hid his face, but your love endured the curse and accomplished my salvation. Jesus, lover of my soul, shed abroad such love through me! Never such love. Never such death. It was a desperate duel, but love conquered. What then my heart? Why do I have no emotion when contemplating such heavenly affection? Yes Lord, I long, I pant to feel your love and to share it. Why should I be too depressed to love Jesus, who has a love as strong as death for me? He deserves it and I desire it. The martyrs felt your love and spread it, why not me? They mourned their weakness and yet were made strong, why not me? Grace gave them unswerving consistency; there is the same grace for me! For every drop of crimson blood thus shed to make me live, O wherefore, wherefore have not I a thousand lives to give? A DAILY PATTERN FOR PRAYER & BIBLE READING Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 22-24; Luke 18:1-26 Thursday, April 25 Prov 21:20 There is treasure to be desired and oil in the dwelling of the wise; but a foolish man spendeth it up. TUESDAYFOCUS ON CHRISTS LIFE Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 16-18; Luke 16 Tuesday, April 23 John 14:26 But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you. My God and Father: This age is especially the dispensation of your Spirit. I know Jesus is with me, not by his personal presence (like he will be when he comes again), but by the indwelling and constant abiding of his personal Paraclete, the Holy Spirit. I know his office is to console Gods people, but Lord his job is also to convict of sin. Let him illuminate the eyes as well as instruct the minds of __________ and __________ today toward the gospel. John 16:14 [The Holy Spirit] shall glorify me: for he shall receive of mine, and shall show it unto you. The Spirit is my helper; let me be his partner in binding the brokenhearted, strengthening the weak, lifting up the bowed-down. I can do this by preaching Jesus to them. Holy Spirit, reveal, because Christ is the revelation. Console, for Christ is the consolation. Do your stated work of glorifying Jesus. Take not your own things, but the things of Christ, and minister medicine to our miseries! Holy Spirit, you are the Comforter and Jesus is the Comfort. I know you will not neglect your sacred trust. Even so, make me diligent to follow your leading and moving and filling, so others will be reached for Christ. Whenever I decide to speak-up and witness, I have not taken a task I cannot perform, because the power of Christ is there by his Spirit. Confessing this fact, I confirm my trust in your name, Jesus! Give me fresh oil. Anoint me to serve you this week. Make me your ambassador to call all people to be reconciled to God and come to the marriage supper of the Lamb. Amen. FRIDAY CORPORATE PRAYER MINISTRY Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Kings 1-3; Luke 18:27-43 Friday, April 26 Heb. 4:16 Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need. Gracious Lord and God: We could have been driven from your presence forever, but in prayer we stand before your throne. Make our thankfulness ascend in praisepraise that were even able to thank you. We prostrate ourselves in your presence. Even when we come to pray for your own will to be done, and for the power to accomplish what you have already ordained, we still come humbly, meekly and sincerely. We request the Spirits help to be filled, and fulfill our earthly mission for you. This is a prayer you want to answer, but it is an answer you wait to provide until prayed for. Lam. 3:25-26,29 The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD. He putteth his mouth in the dust; if so be there may be hope. Let our pride bite the dust at the curb! Heaven obeys you cheerfully; hell trembles at your will fearfully. When we come forth fulfilling the Great Commission, the Devil tries his utmost to deceive and distract, because he is already defeated by its purpose. Job 25:5-6 Behold even to the moon, and it shineth not; yea, the stars are not pure in his sight. How much less man, that is a worm? You are the highest of all kings. You deserve most to be worshipped, adored, and obeyed in our lives. We are on earth while you are in heaven. Help us fulfill all your will down here, even as the shining beings you created fulfill it up there. Make us bow as we should before your eternal majesty. Spirit of God, fill us and help us worship the Father in spirit today. Amen. WEDNESDAYREVIVAL PRAYING Chronological Bible Reading: 2 Samuel 19-21; Luke 17 Wednesday, April 24 Rev. 3:19 As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore, and repent. Holy God, Holy Father: Where I see much that I deplore, your loving eye sees much to admire. In the eagerness of my self-analysis, I often write bitter things against myself. But you see even in those bitter self-condemnations a spiritual life of sincerity that you love. When you search my heart, you never bypass the lightest longing for you, or the dimmest desire, or the faintest faith, or the least love. It does not say, as many as you love you praise, but as many as you love you rebuke. In that sense it is more important for me to uncover my faults, than for me to dwell on my virtues, because if I would chasten myself I need not be chastened by the Lord. 1 Cor. 11:31 For if we would judge ourselves, we should not be judged. Rev. 2:4 Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. When love dies, then doctrine becomes a powerless corpse. Faith becomes formalism. Spirituality becomes dead ceremony. Relationship becomes religious ritual. And even my adherence to the truth sours into prejudice and bigotry when the sweetness and light of love to Christ leaves. Legalism breeds carnality, and mere hatred of evil will turn into evil itself if the love of Jesus is not there to sanctify it. This is the type of revival I need! If I fail in love I fail in everything. My love for Christ, because it touches at the very heart of my communion with Christ, is the crown and original essence of my spiritual life. Almost any disease can be endured except this disease of the heart. No peril can be greater than this. If I lose love I lose all. You loved me up, out of the pit and into your heart. Now love me into service for you. Amen. SATURDAYIN THE PSALMS Chronological Bible Reading: 1 Kings 4-6; Luke 19:1-24 Saturday, April 27 Psa. 105:24 And he increased his people greatly; and made them stronger than their enemies. Lord God, My Almighty: It is useless to fight against you or your people. Because the more we are oppressed, the more we multiply! Your goodness to Israel called-out the hatred of Pharaohs court, and your goodness to me often calls-out my haters. You used that feeling of discomfort to make your people Israel ready and willing to leave Egypt. So use it to make me ready and willing to let go of the world. When the oppression was at its worst, Moses came. You sent Joseph down into Egypt, but you sent Moses to lead them out of Egypt. Lord, you triumphed in that hour and with an outstretched arm. Deliver me as you delivered them. Psa. 105:39 He spread a cloud for a covering; and fire to give light in the night. Never were people so favored as those Israelites moving forward on their journey. And never will I be so favored as when I am moving-out in ministry, and serving you. Nothing seems to be too good for you to give to your people when they are serving you. You are a blessing to me so I can be a blessing to others. If I stop blessing others, then my own blessing halts. I must be a conduit to others. God my Savior, be my sun and shield, my glory and my defense. How can I be faithless when you have so graciously provided? How can I rebel when you are the light in my midnight? Preserve me from the perils of joy as well as from the evils of grief. With Moses rod and your own word you split the rock in the desert. Abundant water flowed from the spot they feared dying of thirst. I know how that Rock pictures the Lord. From him flows a fountain of living water. Make me a channel to deliver it to others today, for it is in Jesus name I pray. Amen.

I HEAR the Savior say, Thy strength indeed is small;

Child of weakness, watch and pray, find in Me thine all in all. For nothing good have I whereby Thy grace to claim, Ill wash my garments white in the blood of Calvrys Lamb. And now complete in Him, my robe His righteousness, Close sheltered neath His side, I am divinely blest. Lord, now indeed I find Thy power and Thine alone, Can change the lepers spots and melt the heart of stone. When from my dying bed my ransomed soul shall rise, Jesus died my soul to save, shall rend the vaulted skies. And when before the throne I stand in Him complete, Ill lay my trophies down, all down at Jesus feet. Jesus paid it all, all to Him I owe; Sin had left a crimson stain, He washed it white as snow. TIMEWORSHIP Mark 1:35 And in the morning, rising up a great while before day, he went out, and departed into a solitary place, and there prayed.

GIVE GOD THE FIRST PART OF EVERY DAY. The first commitment is to a daily quiet time with God. Our weekly Prayer Diary provides a template for daily devotions. 2) TITHEWORK 1 Cor 16:2 Upon the first day of the week let every one of you lay by him in store, as God hath prospered him, that there be no gatherings when I come. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DIME OF EVERY DOLLARno questions asked. Ten percent is a miniscule amount in our affluent society, but it must come off the top in order to show that God is our priority. We want the blessing of the firstfruits (first devotion, first dime and first day) to flow out to the rest of our resources. 3) TEAMWORD Heb 10:25 Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching. GIVE GOD THE FIRST DAY OF EVERY WEEK. You should fellowship with a group of believers around the word of God every Sunday in our church.

Baptists tend to ridicule liturgical churches that use "prepared prayers" because they lack spontaneity. But for many Baptists, their prayers are so predictable they are no more spontaneous than written-out prayers. The result is we end up praying the same things over and over. This daily Prayer Diary will prompt you on a wide range of prayer requests you might not normally think of, while forcing you to articulate a deeper devotion to God. We have included a daily Bible reading schedule. This plan will take you through the Bible chronologically in a year. Do not read ahead and do not try to catch up. Use each day as it comes. Then you can know that on any given day, dozens of other people are lifting their hearts in the same mind to God. Pray what is written, but use what is prayed as a springboard for your own relationship with God. You learn to pray by praying. Alan

Secret prayer is the secret of prayer, the soul of prayer, the seal of prayer, the strength of prayer. If you do not pray alone you do not pray at all. Our Lord Jesus Christ would go nowhere till He had prayed. He would attempt nothing till He had prayed. Oh, says one, I live in the spirit of prayer, and therefore I do not need times and seasons for prayer. And do you think that Christ did not live in the spirit of prayer? Yet He had to have his special time and place to pray. Do not fall under the injurious notion that because your spirit cries to God in prayer all day long, therefore there must not be some season for more immediately coming into Gods presence. If you imagine this, I am afraid that it will prove a snare to your feet. The Lord Jesus Christ, who knew better than you do that the main thing is the spirit of prayer rather than the act of prayer, yet Himself retired into desert places to maintain the act and exercise of prayer. Be spiritual. Be baptized into the spirit of prayer. But do not be deceived by the enemy, who can steal a spirit away while we dream that we only spiritualize it. We had better preserve the very bones of prayerthe posture, the time, placerather than let it all ooze away into an impalpable mental condition. God keep us prayerful. He will do so if He makes us like His dear Son. Charles H. Spurgeon, 1834-92
