White Brotherhood Society: Essence and Aims

The ideas, round which the disciples of the New teaching have been united, are universal. According to the words of the Master, they could be understood as a new religion, and at the same time as a new philosophy, and a new life. In its essence, the New teaching is liberating, truthloving and philanthropic; it is written Thy word is true from the beginning (Psalm 119:160). As it is obvious from the name, White Brotherhood Society (WBS) represents a public union. The Master Peter Deunovestablished the School of the White Brotherhood in Bulgaria. The White Brotherhood Society was officially registered after his departure. It is an expression of the willingness and aspiration of his nearest disciples and followers to create an environment for preserving the Word and methods of work in the School. Those who are in quest of the spirit of the Master, they will find it in his Word. For that reason that Word has extraordinary spiritual value for us. We should explicate here, that each real spiritual achievement is a result mainly of the inner work; it is not by chance that the School of the Master has borne the definition occult (hidden). Today the most crucial manifestation for the disciples of the New teaching, the most valuable achievements remain these, which are attained in the silence of the secret room1 from the inner person 2 . As far as we still live in an interrelated world, where the principle of correspondence is valid (as above, so below), as far as the individual inner growth needs its external public environment, the disciples of the New teaching have established this society, in order to aid the realization of their tasks n an external plan in an effective way. To a great extent, WBS is an open society by its nature. The fact that there is no formal membership speak for itself, there are no strict procedures for admission and approving of new members. ll that lies in the hands of the natural processes of human interaction, and the power of self-organization and self-initiative, and the smaller and most mighty power in this world Love. Of course, everything does not flow smoothly and according to the plan, but the necessary condition for each disciple is first of all to be free. And the elements of whiteness and brotherhood from the name of this society are expressed namely in that: unconditional respect for the inner freedom and dignity of everyone. The WB society consists of people, who believe, that it definitely makes sense to work. It is not essential for them the teaching and the ideas, which they follow, to be acknowledged. Furthermore: they make no claim, that they understand this teaching; they do not see any sense of moralizing, advertising and making a noise. They realize that the New teaching requires modesty and devotion, persistency, moral purity qualities that are being cultivated by each person at a specific moment. The Brotherhood as an idea is not closed in one or other society because thus it would not be real. Indeed, we could see that often disciples of the New teaching are keenly interested and participating in the life of various spiritual, cultural, scientific societies. For only through a vivid connection, the real brotherhood could be fulfilled entirely. On that point, WB Society has made as their object, according to their stamina, both to foster the spiritual life of their fellows, and also to work for the entire uplifting of the human cultural and spiritual level, and for the absolute awakening of the human consciousness. For only the awaken human consciousness could be an instrument for the living ideas of God, and because: In the fulfillment of Gods will is the strength of the human soul.
