Statement of Proposal
Title Application of Six Sigma in two different service firms, in same domains. Background Though Six Sigma was originally developed for manufacturing processes by Motorola about 15 years back, today service firms and service functions in almost every sector are using Six Sigma to improve performance and enhance the profits. Here the idea behind the research is to see what will be the impact of applying Six Sigma in two different service industries in same domains (departments) for ex: purchasing, accounts payable, payroll etc. Some of the leading service companies which deployed Six Sigma are Citibank, GE Capital, JP Morgan, and Bank of America.

Need for the Research To know the challenges and the benefits of application of Six Sigma in the Service firms and to what extent different service firms will be benefited from Six Sigma deployment.

Objective To know the impact of each business processes in a particular domain (departments) with the help of Six Sigma application in different service firms and what will be the benefits of Six sigma deployment in the respective service firms.

Scope of research The research will be limited to the service firms.

Research Methodology
Sources of data Primary data : Through questionnaire, Interviews etc. Secondary data : 1. Interviews of experts from business magazines like Business Today, India Today and Outlook
