NITRA Launches NTC to Offer Degrees in Textile and Fashion Industry

Summary: NTC the academic arm of NITRA set up solely to offer AICTE approved relevant degree to applicants in Engineering and Management. The institute is widely recognized as one of the reputed academic centers in the country. Northern India Textile Research Association (NITRA) has recently been in news for launching its new academic wing, NITRA Technical Campus (NTC). The objective of this new academic wing is to cater to the manpower requirements of the complete textile and apparel supply chain. NTC has been designed to offer 4 year B. Tech programs in Textile Technology, and Computer Science & Engineering. In addition, its services also include offering 2 Year PGDM degree program in Fashion Retail Management (FRM). Interestingly, all the programs provided by NTC are approved by AICTE. The B. Tech programs are affiliated to Mahamaya Technical University (UP) and the FRM program is offered in collaboration with Manchester Metropolitan University, UK. Considering NTCs infrastructure facility, it is spread over a huge multi-facility Wi-Fi campus with 1, 68,000 sq. ft area having buildings with latest infrastructural facilities and separate hostel for boys and girls. It places itself among the reputed textile research institutes in the country. With coeffort of the textile industry and Govt, of India, the institute was jointly established in 1974. It aims to carry out scientific research in the field of textile as well as to promote and foster scientific research studies for the extension of knowledge connected with textile. With the cooperation of NITRAs staff, it has received excellent praise from all across the country. The institute also happens to offer its services to the decentralized power-loom sector through its seven centers located at Tanda, Kanpur, Meerut, Gorakhpur (all in U.P.), Panipat (Haryana), Ludhiana (Punjab) and Bhilwara (Rajasthan). Importantly, NITRA is being operated under the administrative control of Council of Administration containing the representatives from Textile & Apparel industry, Govt. of India, trade associations, academic institutions and Textile Research Associations. Presently, the council is chaired by Sh. R. L. Nolkha, an eminent industrialist. Dr. J. V. Rao, veteran academician and a research scientist, the present Director General of NITRA and Sh. Abhijit Pal, senior textile consultant, is the Director (officiating) of NITRA. The organization qualitatively delivers multifarious services to textile & apparel industry through its rich in-house manpower resource of more than fifty experienced technical personnel and they are textile

technologist, textile chemist, garment technologist, textile designer, fashion designer, analytical chemist, mechanical engineer, electrical & electronics engineer, civil engineer, environmental engineer, software / IT specialist & management experts. For accurate services perspective, the team of scientists, consultants, and technocrats is backed by the most modern and state-of-the-art infrastructure facilities.
