Use specific reasons and examples to support your answer. Every time one turns on the television we hear about something dealing with the environment, from global warming to pollution. It is a constant a reminder that what people do has a consequence to our planet. While some people do recycle, not enough is being done. We need to have more people recycle to have a better effect to the planet. This is why government needs to have mandatory recycling to not only better the earth, but to lessen our need for natural resources, reduce the amount of actual trash we put in landfill, and to help our economy by the creation of new jobs through the recycling project. One reason the government should enforce mandatory recycling is to reduce the amount of natural resources needed to make products. The recycling of plastic, paper, and aluminum can help to reduce the amount of petroleum, water, trees, and aluminum ore that would be needed to produce new products. According to the article Recycling Facts, by recycling one ton of paper products Americans can save 17 trees, 2 barrels of oil, and 7,000 gallons of water. Along with saving trees by recycling paper, recycling aluminum can save 37 barrels of oil and recycling plastic can save one to two thousand gallons of gas. Another reason recycling should be required by law is to reduce the amount of trash the people put in landfills. If people are producing so much trash, where are they putting it all? Theyre piling it up in landfills. The more trash producing the more space we need to put it. People should try to reuse, recycle, and compost everything they could to reduce the amount of actual trash that ends up in landfills. This would not only help the environment now, but keep it from being a crisis for future generations.

2. Some people say that marriages should be arranged by intermediariest. Others say that young people should be free to choose their marriage partners. Which viewpoint do you agree with? Use specific reasons and exampels to support your answer. I agree with the second statement that young people are free to choose their marriage partners. Marriage is a sacred thing for me, is not messing around. The man who would be my partner is the one who became my desire and choice. We as young people have a right to choose what we are concerned with the future. Including choosing a marriage partner. However, we still need direction and advice from others. The others are certainly people who are more mature and have more experience about a relationship. Also had a good knowledge of the criteria for a marriage partner. Whether it's from parents, sister, friend or anyone who we think can give the right direction. Because we are young, so the nature of selfishness in us is still high and has not been able to think rationally. While adult people usually have a focus thinking and wise. This is so that we as young people are not only free to choose, but also can choose the best. Moreover, it is related to the wedding that we will live our life. It concerns our own happiness. We are the ones who had the relationship, not anyone else. No need an arranged marriage by parents. If matchmaking and later on we were not happy with the person who is the spouse, then that would be a reason to blame someone else, someone to match us with our spouses. Another case if we ourselves who choose our mates. If later we encounter problems with our partner, then that's the risk we must accept and finish it. There is no reason to blame anyone else. Happiness is a choice. Our choice is our responsibility!

3. Do you agree or disagree with the following statement: Pet should be treated like family members. Give reasons to support your opinion.

A number of families have a liking for adopting pets such as dog, cat and bird. These pets not only bring happiness to their owner but also make our society become better and better. Thus, those undeniable benefits drive me to confirm that pets should be treated like family members they have the same feeling as the humans, are usually willing to make friends with us and have a great influence on the children. First and foremost, pets as well as humans have their own emotion and feeling. For instance, I used to adopt a lovable puppy when I was small. However, I always forgot to feed him and just kept him in a cage. One week later, he came down with a serious illness and passed away. After that, I felt extremely depressed and discouraged. From my personal angle, animals are identical to all of us and need to be cared for. Unless we are heedful of them, they will feel sad, frustrated and even interfere with us all the time. On the contrary, pets will become the reliable and friendly family members if we spend time playing or chatting with them. Therefore, all the efforts expressing our attention like building pets care center, making friends and so forth are extremely essential. Secondly, pets play an important role in our daily life. They are usually our loyal and honest friend because they do not know how to tell lie and betray. For example, dog is the most reliable friend of police force. He not only arrests the burglar but also detects the evidence. But for the dog, lots of investigations would have encountered many troubles. Furthermore, many trained pets assist the handicapped to do their work by themselves and help the blind to get the right direction. In addition, pets are ready to make friends with us whenever we need. They cannot speak, understand our language but at least they always listen to what we share and make fun to help us laugh. Last but not the least; pets have effective impact on childrens response to their family and community. Some children assume that looking after their pets give them opportunities to learn the sense of responsibility. To the family, they are conscious of helping parents to do the housework, take care of their babies and live in

harmony with their siblings. To the community, they are aware of the importance of doing charity and taking notice of other people around them. They will learn how to share the happiness and sorrow with the others. As a result, pets are deserved to be behaved like the true family members. It will be too brutal and selfish if we just try to look down on and eliminate them out of our life.

4. Many people enjoy participating in sports for recreation; others enjoy participating in the arts. Give the benefits of each, take a position, and defend it. Usually females are more likely to enroll in activities that require artistic talents and creation, more than males who prefer activities that require a lot of physical effort and strength. Although I am a female, I enjoy participating in sports more than arts. To start with, sports give me the chance to meet new people and make new friends. For example, the members of my team are of different ages and interests, as we attend practices and work hard in order to achieve the same goal strong bonds build between us making us very close friends, which makes every minute of the time we spending together practicing and attending meetings fun. Moreover, when we play against other teams from different parts of the world this doesn't only give them the chance to meet people from different cultures and backgrounds but also gives me the chance to visit new places around the world in which the tournaments are held. Secondly, there is nothing I enjoy more than winning in a match, it gives me a feeling of wild excitement and content that I cannot sleep that night. Furthermore, whether we win on match or not we always throw a party which the whole team attends to enjoy their time after a long tiring day. Finally, I have always enjoyed running around the court during practices as it gives me a feeling of freedom, and gives me the guarantee that I would be fit enough for life and less susceptible to disease in the future. Meanwhile arts help people express their feelings through paintings and playing musical instruments. It also gives them the chance to be proud of themselves after composing a great symphony or finishing a masterpiece. Moreover, artists such as

painters can gain a lot of money from their art galleries while musicians can gain money from concerts and parties they hold. These painting and symphonies can be enjoyed by people of different ages, genders and nationalities as art has know language and can be understood by anyone who loves it. On balance despite all these advantages arts have, I still prefer sports over arts, us it benefits me socially, physically, and also psychologically.
