ROLE PLAYS CONTRIBUTE TO THE DEVELOP OF ENGLISH VOCABULARY IN THE CLASSROOMS

Comment [LYT1]: Or Developing English vocabulary through.

How do role plays influence the development of vocabulary on sixth grade students at Nio Jesus de Praga?

PROBLEM STATEMENT We are very interested in using effective techniques to improve our teaching and the learning process in the classroom. After the analysis of this situation, we began to look for the best procedures to help students develop speaking in an effective way. Based on our previous experiences, we chose role-plays because one of the most relevant purposes of role-plays is improve the communicative competence besides the interaction through oral activities, provide the practice in context which simulates real life experiences and gives the opportunity to use the language they may need outside the classroom, taking into account that we considered useful to solve our main issue. One of most important problem that we saw was when in a class observation a student said a word in English as it is pronounced in Spanish, according to this we went to the teacher to ask how he worked with his students' pronunciation and he replied that he had not enough time to work on this. For this reason we decided to pose this question on the other hand as seen in Colombian education specialist teachers give lessons in any area even in which they are not highly qualified, it may be a basic problem with the English teachers does not have adequate level to teach. Inside the classroom the students seldom use English language to communicate their ideas and their oral contributions involve mainly repeating what the teacher's says or answering the teacher's question, generally this situation becomes difficult to students when they need to produce a short oral composition with the few words given by the teacher moreover the lack of

Comment [LYT3]: In this paragraph you shou talk about the importance of investigating about vocabulary development in learning a foreign language.

Comment [LYT4]: Make sure you center on vocabulary, not pronunciation problems..How is lack of vocabulary evidenced in the English classroom?

Comment [LYT5]: This can go in paragraph 2.

participation result disappointing and frustrating, the students do not make the effort to learn a second language and unfortunately they see English as an isolated subject with no great relevance in their lives. We want to develop a strategy that allows us to demonstrate how the role plays could help to implement the English in their usual vocabulary and role-plays are a pretty good strategy that implements the interaction of the students on sixth grade students at Nio Jesus de Praga?

GENERAL OBJECTIVE To Analyze how role plays helps to develop English vocabulary in students learning process. We expect that the goal can be accomplished through observations, data collection and especially interacting with students, it is important to see how they respond against the collection of information we looking for. We will find in this school hearing impaired students, and it is important for us to see the difference in the performance of the different activities. English is a very important tool so with this project we want to be innovative to future teachers about why it is important to implement new techniques to learning English especially in educational institutions with limited resources like this where we see so few time intensity weeks each course.
Comment [LYT10]: Not necessary in this section.

JUSTIFICATION
(Regarding our research topic the development of vocabulary in Second Language Learning is important because it is the base of communication and everybody has to be able to use it in a correct and interactive way, we realized that the students have the necessity to speak and transmit their thoughts in English too, but most of the time they did not do it because a variety of reasons before mentioned.)

Comment [LYT11]: See the guidelines. We ha also given examples in class that inform you of wh to include in this section.

Comment [LYT12]: This is more appropriate the first paragraph of the problem statement. Please rephrase it and include it there.

THEORETICAL FRAMEWORK This part of the proposal is oriented towards study the behavior of students against?? the implementation of the role plays in the classroom considering the interaction with each other and to show some interest in games, drama, music... etc. All these aspects play an important role as we study the behavior of 6th grade students against learning English in front of a new pedagogy Role plays is are activities that students enjoy a lot not only because they like to dress in different ways, make faces and imagine that they are different people, but also because they can internalize and use English expressions. Usually when people want someone as closely as possible to understand a behavior or situation, is asked to "put in place" of whom lived in reality. If instead evoke mentally assumes the role and the situation dramatically revives, intimate understanding much more profound and enlightening. Herein is Role - Playing: represent a typical situation in order to take real, visible, lived, so as to better understand the behavior of the person or persons should be involved in it in real life. The most obvious uses of role-play are in those areas which deal primarily with aspects of communication. Role-play is a highly verbalized procedure, indeed one of the criticisms aimed against it is that it depends too much on linguistic ability. It is therefore ideally suited to those subjects which deal with linguistic ability, namely languages, literacy and social skills training. The incentive to take part in a role-play high and by taking part, one is using language and other ways of communicating so that learning is an integral part of the task . By devising scenes of everyday life, in particular those situations which make use of the vocabulary to be learnt, the student can be encouraged to use language in a free and interesting way. The development of linguistic skills need not be restricted to foreign languages; the techniques are equally applicable to the improvement of spoken English. (Ments,1999.p.19) According to the above, the role play allows the students to experiment with new behaviors because it is not a real situation to assume the role playing,

participants realize what they do, how they do it and the consequences of their behavior and finally the students identify different ways to react and their effectiveness.

ADVANTAGE OF ROLE PLAY The major advantage of role-play is the one it shares with all simulation and gaming activities in that it is highly motivating and gives students simple, direct and rapid feedback on the effects of their actions. Provided that the role-play is well organized and operated the participants invariably enjoy it. With this kind of technique we pursue the following objectives: - Encourage communication within the group and increase participation. - Show problematic situations??? - Criticizing previous decisions of the group itself??? According with Gillian Porter Ladousse (1987) affirms: Play means that the role is taken in on a safe environment in which students are as inventive playful and possible carrying out a successful role play in a classroom has much in common with a group of children play in school, doctors and nurse, or Star Wars (p. Preface). To understand the concept presented by this author is necessary to take into account the interests of the students as they are best developed in a safe environment according to their interests and that they are people who want to experiment with their knowledge and interact with others, is necessary to be clear about with the students about what they can do and what they can not to do. Taking into account with Krysia M. Yardley & Matwisjczuk (1997) affirm: role plays have been widely used with research and applied psychology, In a social psychology research of the use of role play was particularly popular in the 1960s and early 1970s in the highly focused areas of groups dynamics, attitude

change studies and risky, but also in larger attempts to simulate social institutions like a prisons (p. 2). Considering this writer can see how role plays have been implemented in society for many years psychological purposes and seeking social behavior study was implemented why psychodramatic activities which have been implemented and are still present today. Another view is expressed by Morry van Ments (1983) affirms: the most important question to be asked to considering the use of a particular teaching technique is why you want, of perhaps do not want, to use the particular techniques. The key issue is how it fits in to the whole learning process. The teacher will organize that the process in to a curriculum, the trainer in to a course or training program, the youth leader or social worker in to a program of activities(p. 11). The author wants to guide us as future teachers about the teaching methods of English, he wants to show us how the previous teaching method as readings, text, movies can be used successfully by students but not easily help students modify their behavior in education is why it seeks to implement the role play as an equity method and experience to understand the change in teaching. This study has a central contribution to our own project, since we understood the importance of this kind of activity helps to develop certain skills and abilities in the students learning process.
