UNGKU OMAR POLYTECHNIC MARINE ENGINEERING DEPARTMENT

INTRODUCTION
The Diploma in Marine Engineering offered by Ungku Omar Polytechnic is a course that is, in nature, to train and supply the main workforce of Marine Engineers onboard ships. The sea training is a vital part of this course, as it integrates the theoretical knowledge from the lectures into the actual working environment onboard vessels. It provides an opportunity for the students to acquire the relevant experience, in preparing them to embark on their future role as a Marine Engineer, as well as to sit for the 4 th, 2nd, and 1st Class MOT Marine Engineer Certificate of Competency (COC). This training comprises of a minimum of 6 months sea time onboard as a Cadet Engineer, under the supervision of the Second Engineer. His task is to assist the junior, 4 th, 3rd, 2nd, as well as the Chief Engineer in performing various jobs in the engine room, machinery operation and maintenance, getting used to the watch keeping procedures, shipboard management, safety procedures, etc. The basic idea to undergo this training is to give rough idea and clearer picture of the marine engineering prospect and the working environment also exposes to the responsibility of an engineer in maintaining a ship to sail throughout its service operation. I was assigned to about 16 years-old ship called M.T. OCEAN SEAL and 6 years-old ship called M.T. OCEAN PLUTO, which is belongs to OCEAN TANKERS PTE LTD. The ships are registry at Singapore. Throughout the training, I have learned many things regarding work, working attitude, responsibility and lifestyle of being a marine engineer. This training period is not enough at all too completely all the knowledge and working skills for the fourth coming job function. But, learning never stops even to the chief engineer level where new experiences and new method being faced each and every day. A new day is filled with a new experience. This report that I made as the final report of my shipboard training experience gives a rough idea hows the motor tanker system is operates, cargo loading and discharging operation also the safety measures and regulations regarding ships and its crew safety. Throughout this report also it can found hows the operational procedures of a system, which is integration with another. This Sea Training Report 2013 relates the various aspects of the sea training It has been my pleasure to produce this final report for a better understanding of a ships operating systems.
