Montage
Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Photoshop Font #1 Name & Category: None Font #2 Name & Category: Copy: Broadway Modern Process: Fist I choose all the images I was going to use in this project. Then I cropped the background image to 8.5 x11 inches. I cropped the image of the blue man, rotated it, selected the portion of the image I wanted to use, placed it on top of the background, then used masking to blend the two images together. I then inserted the three paint images to the bottom, changed the light blue to yellow, and masked them separately, using a large brush at 30% opacity and 30% flow to give it a bit of transparency. Lastly, I used their logo and blended it a little using a sprayed strokes filter. Then I wrote the text Out of this world and used blending options to add a drop shadow and an outer glow.

Logos
Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator Top Logo Font #1 Name & Category: Elephant (Modern) Process: Top logo: I began by tracing the border outline of an actual Canon Camera using the pen tool. Once I did that, I traced the lens portion and made small streaks to give the lens a glare look. After this, I applied a red radial gradient to the image of the camera and set it as my background. Then I deleted the letter/vector o and made the lens become the o of the word Connect. Middle logo: I began by typing the name of the company once again (Connect) and then chose a font. I chose Century Gothic because it seemed to be able to flow very well together. I began working on the arrow portion. I used the line tool to draw two lines from the C to the T and eventually made the T become a part of the lines by stretching it out some using the direct selection tool. Once this was done, I drew two slanted lines and gave it an arrow look. Bottom logo: I began by drawing a camera from scratch and took basic shapes to see what could be done. First I made a rectangle for the basic shape of the camera (using the rectangle tool), then I made a small rectangular button above that. Afterwards I used the pen tool to get the trapezoidal shape (that looks like a flash) above the larger rectangle. Finally, I gave the onnect portion (without the C) a white stroke to make it stand out from the camera itself.

Letterhead
Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator & InDesign Logo Font #1 Name & Category: Agency FB Regular/Bold Sans Serif Logo Font #2 Name & Category: Copperplate Gothic Bold Serif Process: For the Letterhead, I began by copying the top-left man and the brick wall and scaling them using the Object>Transform>Scale option and did so to 200%. I copied and pasted the top and bottom borders, but decided to leave the middle links and side links out for the Letterhead because it would be too distracting for the user. Then I copied the bottom right person and placed him in the same spot he was in the business card and scaled him accordingly. Afterwards, I copied the name Connect and placed it on the bottom left after scaling it to 200% as well. Then I took my contact information and placed it near the bottom-right personage to make it look almost as if he was presenting the information to us.

Business Card
Programs/Tools Used: Adobe Illustrator & InDesign Logo Font #1 Name & Category: Agency FB Regular/Bold Sans Serif Logo Font #2 Name & Category: Copperplate Gothic Bold Serif Process: I began by drawing a circle with the ellipse tool in Illustrator and once I had the right size I wanted, I copied it and pasted it just off center. I colored that second ring green in order to give it a shadowy look. I then copied and pasted the rings until I had enough to make a border. I used the pen tool and just connected a few points together to give me a brick wall look. Next came the guy on the right: I began by drawing his head with the ellipse tool and then simply used the Rounded Rectangle Tool again to make the torso and arms. The hands I drew with the pen tool this time (his fingers are more separated) and then I used the Ellipse Tool to get the hips to look right. The thighs were then drawn with the Rounded Rectangle Tool and edited accordingly with handles and anchor points.

Brochure
Programs/Tools Used: Adobe InDesign/Adobe Illustrator/ Adobe Photoshop Title Font Name & Category: Minion Pro / Old Style Copy Font Name & Category: Palatino Linotype / Serif Process: The first thing I did was set up the tri-fold in Adobe InDesign. I split my layout into three sections keeping in mind that the first section would be my 1st inside fold and the last two would be the back and front of my brochure. I used green, yellow, and blue throughout the brochure to create repetition and flow. I chose these colors because they are Brazils national flags colors. Since my theme was Come visit Santa Catarina, I chose pictures that portrayed happy, fun, and tropical settings where family and friends can get together and have a good time. I created a logo for both the state of Santa Catarina as well as the country of Brazil in order to show my audience its geographical location. I added what I like to call Super Headings to the right side of every content page and made them contain simple words that described each individual page the audience reads. In order to get the images to fit properly, I drew wavy lines using the pen tool and then placed them inside the frame i had just made using InDesign. I also used the pen tool to create the wavy look of a Brazilian flag for the background portion of my brochure.

Flier
Date: 01/26/2013 Program(s) / Tools used: Adobe InDesign Title Font Name & Category: Impact Sans Serif Copy Font Name & Category: Minion Pro Oldstyle Description: Black & White promotional flier to promote a graduate leadership conference. Process: I started out by drawing some sketches of my layout. Then I used my sketch as a guide to create this layout in Adobe InDesign. I used different shapes in order to create the title section of my flier which is located at the top of the page. The different shapes and color I used was to represent repetition. I emphasized the word Graduate in my title and made it a different color to show contrast and to make it the focal point. I tried my best to use white space and my body copy was left at 12 font size. The image, logo, and content for this flier were all given to me.

Event Ad

Title Font Name & Category: Broadway Decorative/Modern Copy Font Name & Category: Microsoft Sans - Sans Serif Description: A color full-bleed event ad to promote a fundraiser using only Microsoft Word and a scanner. Process: I scanned the two images I used (the brownies and the hearts). I opened up a blank Word document and used the draw text box tool to create the purple, pink, and blue rectangles as the background for repetition and organization. I was then able to color and re-size them accordingly using the rulers and grids Word provides. Afterwards, I added my first image, sent it to the background, and adjusted its size and placement accordingly. I then went into the image formatting section and increased the temperature of my image to give it a brighter, happier feel. The same was done for the second image. I chose the title font to show contrast in weight between the body font. After a bit of reordering, I was able to find good placement for the textual content of my ad and left enough white space to make the product really stand out. Im happy I was able to get this experience and never knew Word could do such amazing simple designing.

Web Page
Programs/Tools Used: Notepad++ and Adobe Illustrator Font Family #1 (all names) & Category: Futura Bold, Arial, sans-serif; Sans Serif Font Family #2 (all names) & Category: Garamond, Times New Roman, serif; Oldstyle Hex Colors: Dark Blue #043C6B; Blue #3F8FD2; Black #000000; White #FFFFFF; Process: I created this page by using Notepad++ and I had never done any HTML/CSS coding like this before. I was amazed at how much control I had over the webpage simply by using a text editor. I never knew the HTML validator even exited, but it helped me find errors in my code plenty of times. I began by marking up my content in my HTML file to get everything that I wanted to written down. Then I attached a pre-made CSS document to my HTML file and began editing the colors on my page. I went to http:// colorschemedesigner.com/ and chose my range of blue colors according to their mono color picker. I changed my fonts to Futura Bold and Garamond in my CSS file and then chose and placed my image on my page. I resized it using CSS to 75% width and height of the original and it seemed to fit well with those parameters. I also added code to center my image below the first heading and although challenging, I learned a lot. Then I declared some backup fonts just in case the viewers browser didnt have these fonts.

Imaging
Date: 02/09/2013 Programs/Tools Used: Nikon D5100 Adobe Photoshop Top 3 things learned: 1) I learned how to crop an image 2) I learned how to use filters 3) I learned how to color using hue and saturation Process: I first used my Nikon D5100 to take pictures using the rule of thirds, good lighting, and sharp focus. I then took my image into Adobe Photoshop and cropped it to a 66 inch square. I selected the star and desaturated the rest of the image, keeping the star its original blue color. I colorized the star, this made it stand out more due to their increased saturation. then I applied texture grain filter to the image.
