Dear teachers, The vocabulary list and the activities in this Methodology Tips sheet are all related to Maturita Card (MC) 28, Transport. The word list is designed to provide students with vocabulary and phrases they will find useful or necessary when travelling to / in areas where English is spoken, speaking to

The vocabulary in the list is divided into two groups. The core vocabulary (Z level) was selected with the help of the PET Vocabulary List, University of Cambridge ESOL Examinations, 2008 and J. A. van Ek and J. L. M. Trim, Threshold 1990, Cambridge University Press 1998. ISBN 0 521 56706 8, Threshold 1990. The vocabulary list in italics goes beyond this level and will be probably used by Vlevel students.

Words such as; drivers license and driving licence, rental car rather than hire car, and traffic light and stop light are rather more universal nowadays, and therefore recognisable all over the world. There are also regions, within America, for example, where people use only highway, and not freeway or interstate.
