The Rosenberg Option

We welcome noted author, Joel Rosenberg, to speak this weekend. The New York Times best-selling author of seven novels, including The Last Jihad, The Ezekiel Option, and others, has been here before. He has also written non-fiction works of significance, which inform us about Islam and how to understand the times. The Ezekiel Option received the Gold Medallion Award as the best novel of 2006. Joel has also produced two documentary films based on his books and is in great demand as a speaker on prophecy. It is beyond irony and lies in the realm of providence that Janet and I are in Israel this week and next, beneficiaries of your gracious anniversary gift to us last year for our 20 years of ministry at FBCN. This also happens to be Holocaust Remembrance weekend. Of course, Joel has an orthodox Jewish heritage and a great heart for the Middle East. That vision birthed the Joshua Fund, a non-profit education and charitable organization to mobilize Christians to bless Israel and her neighbors in the name of Jesus.

Joel also worked as a Communications Advisor for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, Deputy Prime Minister Natan Sharansky, Steve Forbes, and Rush Limbaugh. He has appeared on major networks and talk shows on TV and radio. We love his sense of humor and his passion for the gospel. Janet and I were privileged to attend an Epicenter Conference in Philadelphia along with hundreds which was watched by over 30,000 online. Thank you for your generous gift to us and for allowing Janet to go to the Holy Land for the first time. We are traveling with our friends, Dr. & Mrs. Paige Patterson and the scholars of Southwestern Baptist Seminary, our alma mater. This is my first time to visit Jordan, which uniquely affords special time with Dr. Pattersons adopted half-brother, who is a Palestinian living in Amman. Returning on April 16, you will be blessed to hear Dr. Paul Dixon, Chancellor of Cedarville University next weekend. I will be in the pulpit the following week. Paul and Pat are active members of our church. He is known nationally as a leading educator, administrator, and evangelist. He has a unique way of relating to our seasonal people and spent 25 years preaching weekly to college students in Chapel as President. He is a constant blessing to me personally.

Blood Drive

Over the last few weeks, we have joined together in celebrating Gods faithfulness by giving back to Him with a Bless the Lord offering. We are excited to announce that $726,135 was brought in. Praise the Lord! This will go toward paying down the principle of our churchs debt, reducing our debt balance to $5,493,429. Thank you to all who faithfully gave. We also appreciate those who are continuing to give toward making First Baptist Church Naples debt free! VBS will be held June 10-14 and we need volunteers to help with decorating, greeting, etc. Please contact the Childrens Ministry at 596-8600 x350 for more details or to volunteer. You can register your child for VBS at fbcn.org/vbs.
