EDGARDO SANTOS A- Z MODEL OF CHANGE OF MANAGEMENT PLANNING-

February 16, 2013

The video wherein the A-Z Model has been presented by Michael Nestor reminded me of what implementers and leaders usually undergo when they plan for change- the difficulties. As with every strategic planning process, preliminary processes need to be done to ensure that the change we want to implement will be embraced and thoroughly understood not just by the stakeholders but by the implementing body as well. Sir Michael Nestor mentioned that the change leaders themselves have hard time in defining their specific outcome. Like most of us, the first obstacle usually is admitting that we need change in order for us to grow. But the even-harder part is identifying the things that we need to change followed by the clear conception of what particular type of person, system, or organization we want to have as change is implemented. Nowadays, subordinates doubting the intention of their leader have become a usual sight. This usually happens when an organization embarks on change without ensuring that each component of the organization understand and thoroughly sees the good in the change they are to implement. When the intent of the implementer is not specific and clear, when the change objective is not explained thoroughly in such a way that all stakeholders from top to bottom understand it as it is, gray areas surface, the intent of the change leaders are seen as shady and worse, the purpose of change is tainted with malicious questions and doubts. Hence, administrators and change leaders must be clear with their intentions, the purpose of their proposed change and most importantly, the leaders must be very sure of their change objective as to where they want their organization to stand when change has been implemented. This way, the thorough understanding, full support and warm embrace of the proposed change will be given by the stakeholders and by each component of the organization, thereby making them work not as individuals but as a group, as one.

APRIL SALCEDO TUBA EDDR. EDGARDO SANTOS BARRIERS IN EDUCATION-

February 16, 2013

According to William Yeats, education is not filling a bucket but lighting a fire. During stormy days, when the flame education has ignited starts to flicker and just lose its luster, we either die with flame or strive to keep the fire burning amidst the raging storm. As the video played on my monitor, thoughts of a dreamer were awakened. The trials famous people like Michael Jordan and Rosa Sparks have encountered are somewhat similar to what we go through in our lives. In fact, I believe, all problems are the same in the sense that it can make or break our dreams depending on how we treat them in our lives and on how we go about it. As teachers, problems come and go every day. Others stay in the corners of our learning institution waiting for us to pay attention to it and turn it into positive light. The hard ones, most of the times they make us question our strengths and ability to make things better. They make us doubt what we believe in. They make us feel hopeless amidst the obstacles we face in trying to educate the young. But when we have clear perspective of our role in the lives of the learners, that is to help them reach their full potential and enable them to conquer the world, well find a way in making the obstacles our partners in igniting the passion of our youth to learn and to claim the victory. The only catch is that, yes, it would take a long time, patience and determination is badly needed and must be shown at all cost and of course, the passion to teach and to learn at the same time. We cannot give what we do not have. So how can we teach our students to never give up in fighting for their dreams if we have failed to show vigor in our lives both professional and personal aspects? As we go along the threads of our vocation to teach and mold good citizens, we may stumble and fall a countless times but it doesnt matter. What matters is that in every fall we take, we pick up a lesson and do our best to stand up and try again. With passion and love we teachers may not jus be able to help build good future for our nation but improve the quality of living of the whole world as well.
