Remotely Operated Vehicles

Revolutionizing Deep Water Productivity

Performance First
FMC Schilling Robotics Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) systems provide industry leading performance, combined with ease of use and the lowest total cost of ownership. Fully integrated systems consist of the ROV, tether management system (TMS), launch and recovery system (LARS), control vans, and workshop vans. Our ROVs deliver the highest productivity in the deep water oil and gas industry, with comprehensive global support in all of the major regions.

System Versatility
The HD and UHD ROV systems complement each other in terms of market versatility. The HD is a compact 150Hp system, and the UHD is a 200Hp Ultra Heavy-Duty system that is capable of the most demanding construction tasks. Both systems can be utilized for drill support, inspection, maintenance and repair (IMR), and construction markets, providing customers with the flexibility of extensive configuration options based on their operational needs. We provide a comprehensive range of system options including TMS, LARS, vans, and auxiliary tooling. Each customers unique requirements can be accommodated by configuring the system to suit their specific needs, while providing a high degree of commonality with core components and sub-systems.

System Support
Lifetime support is provided by the industrys most comprehensive global network of support centers, located in all of the major oil and gas regions. Product training, spare parts, technical assistance, and logistics support are readily available from our dedicated support centers staffed by highly trained personnel.

Comfort and Control

Ergonomic design is a prominent feature of the control environment. The system includes a customized dual station operator console, video wall, single 19in control equipment rack, and power distribution system - all of which are configured to provide a spacious environment.

Ease of Maintenance
With nearly one hundred ROVs in the field, we want to ensure our customers offshore operations are seamless. We have been providing modular components on our systems since we began building them in 2006. The HD system takes our modularity concept to

the next level. With most system-level component changes taking 60 minutes or less, operators enjoy a significant increase in system productivity throughout the year. Not only is the maintenance quick, but any trained crew member can complete these, regardless of seniority. This modularity extends to our control system, HPU, power distribution, TMS, and other components.

Ease of Operation
High power performance is delivered through a 150shp HPU that can incorporate an optional auxiliary hydraulic circuit for integrating tooling. Advanced power management performance enables the pilot to focus on performing the subsea intervention tasks, while the ROV adjusts power distribution to automatically compensate for changes in power demand. The HD system features advanced auto-piloting modes that enable ROV pilots to perform subsea intervention with unmatched levels of accuracy and stability. StationKeep allows the pilot to offset the effect of poor visibility and currents that can make it difficult to maintain position. With the touch of a single button, the ROV automatically senses movement and compensates by precisely controlling each thruster. AutoTrack leverages the same technology to greatly improve the speed and accuracy of seafloor surveys, while AutoDisplacement offers the capability to move the ROV in any given direction with pinpoint accuracy.

Launch and Recovery System (LARS)

FMC Schilling Robotics can supply either standard or custom designed LARS to suit the application. The base system is a luffing design, which is suitable for drilling rigs or vessel operations. A telescoping version of this system can be provided to increase the outboard reach during deployment and recovery, which can increase the operating envelope of the ROV system in adverse sea conditions. Additional passive and active heave compensation systems can further extend the safe working limits for operation. In certain instances, custom designed solutions are required to address the needs of specific vessel or platform installations. These systems may require specialized gantry arrangements for moonpool installations, or for vessels with integrated systems that are fully enclosed and require deployment through doors on the side of the ship.

Vans
We supply integrated control vans and workshop systems where required. Custom vessel installations can also be supported with our personnel conducting on-site integrations. Standard design configurations offer ergonomic and spacious layouts for the operators, with ease of access to equipment also being a primary consideration. Workshop vans are also fully outfitted with efficient storage space for spare parts and maintenance tools, providing an effective environment for conducting system maintenance.

Tether Management System (TMS)

We offer a variety of TMS options to suit customers specific requirements relating to the type of operation and excursion range. Hydraulic powered TMS systems are available, which can be outfitted with thrusters and controls to allow the TMS to be flown similar to the ROV and extend the excursion of the ROV for pipelay touchdown monitoring applications. The electric-drive TMS systems provide optimal tether spooling with highly responsive control for handling tether. The electric drive TMS systems offer the additional advantage of reducing umbilical diameter since it is not necessary to include power conductors for running an onboard HPU. This alone is a significant benefit, but the requirement for a smaller winch also helps reduce overall deck footprint and system cost.

System Performance
Both the HD and UHD feature our power management system technology, which ensures that the systems will maintain optimal efficiency under high demand loads. This is particularly important when performing heavyduty tasks that require high performance of the thrusters and significant demand of any tooling systems. To achieve optimal performance, the hydraulic power system on the HD and UHD are software-controlled by a highly efficient Power Management system. This system uses management of hydraulic pump pressure under software control to ensure the optimum use of available HPU power under a wide range of system demands.

Auxiliary Equipment
Our ROVs are supplied with a comprehensive complement of auxiliary sensors and manipulators. Any third-party supplied equipment can be easily interfaced to the ROVs, leveraging the versatile DTS control system that can be quickly configured to accept any industry standard device. The modular expansion capabilities of the DTS allows customers to continually upgrade the ROV capacity based upon project needs.
