WHAT DO THE PROPHETS AND THAILAND HAVE IN COMMON?

Theyre both going to be a big part of our lives over the next ve months! Starting in April, our SBS students will study the prophetic books of the Old Testament - we will be teaching several books in the next three months. At the completion of SBS at the end of June, well be transitioning to preparing to go on outreach to SE Asia from mid-July to mid-August!
Its hard to believe, but were heading into the last three months of the School of Biblical Studies here at YWAM Turner Valley! Our students will spend most of the next three months studying the prophetic books of the Old Testament (they will also study wisdom literature - Job, Proverbs, etc.), and will nish the year studying the Helen & Michael Packard Gospel of Matthew. We end by studying Matthew because it quotes the Old are missionaries with the School of Biblical Studies Testament more than any other gospel; after being immersed in the Hebrew Scriptures for the past several months, Matthew will really come alive for the students. at YWAM Turner Valley. Were so excited for their studies to come full circle - they began with the New Testament, and will end with the New Testament, seeing how God fullled all His promises for a Messiah in Jesus Christ, our Savior. What good news! Weve really come to love and appreciate our students over the last six months. Theyve allowed God to transform them and grow them as theyve studied His Word, and we cant wait to see what they will do with all that God has been teaching them. At this point, many of our students hope to continue their YWAM journey by joining staff, using their knowledge of Gods Word to teach others how to study the Bible. Others are interested in more schooling, both in YWAM and in university, walking out their unique giftings; were condent theyll bring their knowledge of the Bible to the different spheres of society they are called to. If you want to learn more about our students and their journeys on SBS, we have been featuring them in our Meet-the-Student Monday blog series at packardsprogress.wordpress.com. Wed love for you to get to know them more - they are a fantastic and passionate group of students! As mentioned, once SBS is over for this year, we will transition to preparing for outreach! We will be spending approximately one month (from July 16th to August 15th) in Southeast Asia, mostly in Northern Thailand. We will be joined by several people from our base, and our heart for this trip is to reach the Shan people with Christs love. The Shan are a people group that live in Southeast Asia, most of whom are Buddhist. YWAM Turner Valley is uniquely connected with this group, as the Shan Project, a ministry in Northern Thailand, was birthed out of this base for the purpose of reaching the Shan with the Gospel. Our hope for the outreach is that we will connect with various ministries that are already working with the Shan - we want to support the work that God is already doing. We want to do the things God calls us to do, and we want to be part of furthering His Kingdom. For more details, please refer to the prayer card included with your newsletter.

Would You Pray With Us?

God knows the future - He always has and He always will. Just the same, He desires relationship with us, and wants us to make our needs and hopes known to Him. Would you pray with us, especially in the following areas: 1. Finishing Strong: We want to nish this year off strong, and we have a lot of books to teach (and grade) this quarter. This, of course, means our students have a lot of work to do too! The last months of the school contain some big books (particularly Jeremiah and Isaiah), and while these books are incredibly rich, the students have a lot of work ahead. Please pray we would all be committed to what God wants us to learn in these last months. 2. Whats Next: We know whats next for us - another year of stafng SBS at YWAM Turner Valley. We do, however, ask that youd pray for our students, as many are waiting on God to hear what He wants them to do next. SBS is such a gift; wed love to see our students take that gift and bless others with it in whatever way God is calling them to. 3. Outreach: As we get ready to go to Thailand this summer, we ask for your prayers. Not only will this be the rst time either of us has been to Thailand, its the rst time we will go on outreach together! We are so excited! Please pray for protection for our marriage, unity as an outreach team, and for the planning process as we discern what God would have us do in Thailand. Some possible opportunities include eye glass clinics, teaching English, and Bible teaching. We also ask that youd pray for us concerning nances for this outreach. We will need a minimum of $6000 to go (this is a rough estimate based on what past outreaches have cost). If you would like more information on this upcoming adventure and how you can partner with us in it, refer to the prayer card included with your newsletter, and Our Calendar & Teaching Schedule check out our blog, packardsprogress.wordpress.com.
