.2013 Advertisement No. 3 (III)(Admn.-II)/NIH/2013 NIH invites applications from Indian Nationals for Research Intern awards (for HQs at Roorkee and Regional Centres at Bhopal, Jammu and Guwahati). The Research Internship is meant to be a preparatory phase for young interns in imbibing the spirit of enquiry and learning the tools and techniques of research through participation and doing. RESEARCH INTERNS - 12 Nos. SN Qualification 1. 2. 1 class or equivalent GPA in BE/BTech (Civil/Mech./CS) 1st class or equivalent GPA in BE/BTech (Chemical/Metallurgy Engg.) or Master degree in (Chemistry / Biotechnology) Desirable: Competency in Phyto-remediation / nano-technology 1st class or equivalent GPA in BE/BTech (Civil/ Agri. Engg.) or Master degree in Environmental Science 1st class or equivalent GPA in MSc (Physics) with specialization in optical or nuclear physics 1st class or equivalent GPA in BE/BTech (Civil/Agri. Age: The age limit is 25 years (as on the closing date), which is relaxable upto 05 years in the case of SC/ST/OBC/ Physically Handicapped and female candidates. Stipend: Rs. 15,000/- p.m. consolidated. No other allowances shall be payable. Tenure: Maximum three years from the date of joining, and subject to satisfactory performance to be evaluated every 6 months. The interns shall have no claim for further extension, absorption or regularization in NIH after expiry/termination of the internship.

Accommodation: The Interns may be provided with the transit accommodation as per prevailing rules of the Institute. The applicable licence fee shall be charged and the Intern shall vacate the accommodation on termination or expiry of the tenure, whichever is earlier. Mode of Selection: The selection will be based on (a) candidate's academic records, (b) performance in aptitude test (if so required) and (c) performance in interview. The application shall be shortlisted after scrutiny by a duly constituted Screening Committee to restrict the number of candidates for test/interview. Mere fulfilling of minimum prescribed qualifications will not vest any right in a candidate for being called for test/interview. General Conditions: Interns would be free to appear for NET/GATE and secure regular fellowships for doing Ph.D. The award of Internship does not confer any right, explicitly or implicitly, for regular absorption in the Institute and does not imply any assurance or guarantee for subsequent employment by NIH Roorkee. If an intern is reported to have been lacking in his or her research assignment or commits misconduct, the award is liable to be terminated. No TA will be paid for appearing in the interview. Director, NIH reserves the right not to fill-up these positions or any one amongst them, if he so decides. A candidate who claims to belong to OBC must submit in support of his/her claim, an attested copy of the Certificate for Current year in the prescribed form meant for Central Government to the effect that he/she does not belong to Creamy layer. Physically handicapped candidate must submit a Disability Certificate issued by the Competent Authority specifying that he/she has been suffering from not less than Forty percent of relevant disability. The candidates must bring original certificates for verification at the time of interview. No and the subject of Intern on the envelope so as to reach NIH within 21 days from the date of publication of advertisement in the Employment News.
