Journals 1/10/2013 This was the first journal of the semester, and I felt as though this journal really

introduced us to the subject matter that we would focus on the whole course. I do feel as though the writing in my journals, are not very formal, and are sloppy. However this journal did get me excited about the types of topics we would be discussing throughout the class. I felt as though I fully engaged with the Journal topic, attempting to fully address the questions that we asked. 1/15/2013 This journal really got me thinking about how the media really influences us, and our opinions about products etc. In this entry I do feel as though I was questioning the reliability of a lot of the media sources even if I did not express this in the journal. I wrote, in a quick manner, things that I thought the media did influence, and those ideas have not really changed much since this journal entry. My experience of working at a movie theater is where I got the idea that movies are not a part of the media, influencing are decisions, however since re-reading that and writing this reflection, I do question that statement. Chomsky This was the first journal, in this class, where we analyzed the opinions of an academic scholar. I strongly agreed with Chomsky, as far as how the media is utilized to control the opinions of the population and make them obedient. I feel as though I have always been good at analyzing the opinions of others and the writing of others. Since writing this journal my analytical skills have grown, with some help from this class having to analyze our inquiry projects etc. Having said that I still would agree with Chomsky regarding, the media tactics on its target population. 1/22/2013 With this journal I tried to approach it with an open mind, given that I grew up in a small town that had a Wal-Mart. Growing up people never really mentioned too much how small businesses were going out of business due to Wal-Mart. That is why I took the stance of the small business owner to argue for small businesses because I felt as though I would have been able to argue effectively for Wal-Mart. I did this to attempt to develop my arguing skills better, by being able to take any stance on a subject and argue effectively for or against it. By doing this to better help me with my inquiry project by being able to argue for or against it. 1/31/2013 This journal was a nice reflection on my auto inquiry project, to determine if there was anything else that I would like to talk about for my project. With this journal, it was good to really reanalyze my ideas and see if there truly was anything else I would like to discuss with this project.

Of the topics I wrote in my journal, I have not addressed those questions yet in my project, and may not ever address them. While those questions are important I wish only to address Chiropractic Medicine in my project, because I feel like addressing those other questions could deter me from focusing on my topic. I probably could have addressed this journal better, versus saying that I didnt really know what else I could have talked about, however I do feel as though I accurately addressed my auto inquiry project. 2/5/2013 Watching the Kid President video I keep an open mind, and really attempted to listen to the message he was trying to convey. In my journal I do feel as though I adequately addressed all my thoughts and ideas with the topic, and really engaged myself to fully understand what Kid President was trying to say. I also took into account the time of when this video was posted, along with what political events were taking place. I do see throughout the semester that in my journals, I engage with the topics more quickly and effectively, and that not a lot of the stuff I write in my journals is just b/s to fill the lines on the paper.

2/7/2013 Well with this journal I did learn a new searching tool to find the most relevant information regarding a subject. That was very informative to me and I can tell from my writing that I really engaged my inquiry topic. This journal allowed me to find some information regarding my topic that I found useful later on when working on my prezi and paper. Also during this journal I question some information that I would later go back to dig deeper into. 2/14/2013 This journal and all the ones like it, are new to me. In that I have never had a professor approach the understanding of an assignment this way before, and I must say that I do like this new way of learning the INS & outs of a new assignment. With the journal I tried my best to really analyze the project and really understand it so that I would know what I was doing for the assignment. Likewise everyone in my group agreed with what I had to say, and overall we all had a better understanding of everything. 2/19/2013 It was good to reflect on the work I had done so far in my project, and to look ahead at what I was planning to accomplish with it. While I do feel as though I engaged somewhat with the journal, I do think that I could have done better, I was just having one of those days where I was just filling the paper space with words, not really doing the best I could, and I can see that in my writing.

2/21/2013 This was the first time that I really looked at what kind of a learner I really am. I was pretty honest with this journal, and feel the same way now about what I said. Procrastination is my worst enemy, and the longer I procrastinate the worse it gets. I still am trying to be an active learner in this class and really dig deep into my topic, and I hope that the rest of my work throughout the rest of the semester shows that.

Auto Inquiry

Auto Inquiry Peer Response One Given that this was the first peer review session of the semester, I didnt really know what to expect. I was pretty confident in my Auto Inquiry paper so I didnt feel have too many questions to ask, other than does it make sense? However as you can see from the peer review response for the first one, I didnt get much feedback to go on.

Auto Inquiry Peer Response Two This peer response was more constructive for me, however I did end up going a different route with my paper so his advice did not necessarily apply to the new topic. I try to approach the responses given with an open mind, and be open to criticism. I think what more I wanted from my peers was more in depth responses to include how well my argument flows, tone etc. Also to know if I include enough detail in my writing, especially when speaking on medical knowledge, to make sure that it makes sense to the average person. That a lay person can read my writing and they be able to fully understand what I am saying. Inquiry Project Prezi Reflection I incorporated the same initial bib into my prezi because I felt like it was a very good way to start off. It was an ABC News report, and I felt like it was a nice introduction into the controversy in the field. I had made revisions to my Prezi along the way and included some good information. At this point I do know that there is still much more work that needs to be done with the Prezi for the final project in this class, and I do feel as though I incorporated my Prezi into my paper in an effective way. Prezi Peer Review Reflection

With this round of peer review, I presented my Prezi to my group, and allowed them to ask questions along the way. The feedback I received from them was somewhat helpful, and some of the feedback I received from them I did not necessarily agree with-hence why it was not included in my paper. They both suggest that I should show documented failed attempts of chiropractic medicine, however I feel like this should not be included because it could have said in my paper that I have already taken a stance on this topic. I think that the history of the field speaks enough about failed attempts, and to be honest the only field attempts published in scholarly journals has been rebutted. The peer review was helpful however in letting me know that I have a lot of good information on my prezi.

Inquiry Annotated Bibs paper refection Since writing my auto inquiry paper I had worked on my writing in my journals by learning how to better engage with the topic, and intertwine topics together. I knew that for this paper I would have to intertwine the subjects together, so when examining my Prezi I chose a path that would allow me to effectively do just that. I approached the writing knowing that I would have to show how the pieces of my Prezi were related, and I think what made that easier for me is that I was able to get some good leads that truly were related. I have learned a lot about my topic since I first started it at the beginning of the semester, and I feel as though my topic is still based around the same central idea given that there are so many variables that can come into play with it.
