The Anathemas of the Sunday of Orthodoxy

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, after the dismissal, the clergy and servers come forth to the base of the solia, bearing ikons. The protos with the Cross remains on the amvon. (This Service can be performed without a Bishop)
The Protodeacon begins thus:

Who is so great a God as our God? Thou art the God who doeth wonders!
He repeateth the same three (3) times, in a progressively louder voice. Then he readeth the following

Celebrating today the Triumph of orthodoxy, O ye people, let us glorify above all our good God, who is blessed forever. This, our God, having taken thought for and established His beloved inheritance, the Holy Church, and having comforted with His true word our forebears who fell away through our transgression, hath set our foundation in paradise. This, our God, directing man toward His promise of salvation, let not Hmself bereft of witness, but, proclaimed the salvation which was to come, first through the forefathers and prophets, presenting it by diverse images. This is our God, who by the prophets of old spoke to the fathers very often and in diverse ways, and in these latter days has spoken to us in the SON, by whom time was created, who announced the good pleasure of the Father for us, disclosed the mysteries of heaven, comfirmed the truth of the glad tidings by the power of the Holy Spirit, sent the Apostles throughout the whole world to preach the Gospel of the Kingdom, and comfirmed it with diverse powers and wonders. Following this saving revelation and holding fast to the good tidings thereof, we confess that:

WE believe in one God, the Father Almighty, Maker of heaven and earth, and of all things visible and invisible:
And in one Lord Jesus Christ, the Son of God, the Only-begotten, Begotten of the Father before all ages, Light of Light, True God of True God, Begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were made: Who for us men and for our salvation came down from the heavens, and was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary, and became man; And was crucified for us under Pontius Pilate, and suffered and was buried; And rose again on the third day, according to the Scriptures; And ascended into the heavens, and sitteth at the right hand of the Father; And shall come again, with glory, to judge both the living and the dead, Whose kingdom shall have no end. And in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the Giver of Life, Who proceedeth from the Father, Who with the Father and the Son together is worshiped and glorified, Who spake by the Prophets; In One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church. I Confess one Baptism for the remission of sins. I look for the Resurrection of the dead, And the life of the world to come
Choir: AMEN!

And he Chanteth: This is the Faith of the Apostles! This is the Faith of the Fathers! This is the ORTHODOX (Catholic) Faith! (This is the Faith of the Orthodox) This Faith has established the Universe ( or the whole world)! Furthermore, we accept and affirm the councils of the Holy Fathers (which number 7 in all), and their traditions and writings with one accord with divine revelation. And though the enemies of Orthodoxy oppose this providence of the Lord and saving revelation, yet has the Lord been midful of the reproaches of His servants; for He hath mocked them that blaspheme his glory and hath affronted the audacious enemies of Orthodoxy and put them to flight. Therefore, as we bless and praise those who obey the divine revelation and confirm their will to it, so do we cut off and give over to ANATHEMA those who oppose this Truth, if while the Lord awaited their return and repentance, they did not repent; and in this we follow the sacred tradition of the early church, holding fast to her traditions. Start in a Comfortably Low voice: TO those who reject the existence of God and maintain this, His world is self-existent, and that everything therein came into being by chance, and not by the providence of God, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO those who say that God is not spirit, but flesh, or that he is just not full of tender mercy, most-wise and all-

knowing, and utter similar blasphemies, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO those who dare say that the Son of God is not of one substance and equal in honor with the Father, and that neither is the Holy Spirit, and who profess that the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit are not One God, ANATHEMA (X3) half step up In volume TO those who irrationally say that the coming of the Son of God into the world in the flesh, and His voluntary suffering, death and resurrection were not necessary for our salvation and for the cleansing of sins, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO those who do not accept the grace of redemption proclaimed by the Gospel as our sole means for justification before God, Anathema! (X3) TO those who dare to say that the most pure Virgin Mary was not Virgin before giving birth, during birthgiving, and after birthgiving, ANATHEMA! (X3) half step up in volume TO those who do not believe that the Holy Spirit made wise the prophets and the Apostles, and through them hath proclaimed to us the true path to everlasting salvation and confirmed this with miracles, and now dwelleth in the hearts of true and faithful Christians and instructeth them in every truth, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO those who deny the immortality of the soul, the end of time, the future judgement, and everlasting reward in the heavens for virtue and condemnation for sin, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO those who reject all Holy Mysteries held by the Church of Christ, ANATHEMA! (X3) half step up in volume TO those who reject the councils (which number 7) of the Holy Fathers and their Traditions, which are in accord with divine revelations and are kept piously by the Orthodox Catholic Church, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO those who reason that Orthodox Sovereigns are elevated to their thrones not by Gods special good will for them, and that gifts of the Holy Spirit are not poured out upon them during their anointing for the conduct of this great calling; and who likewise dare to rise up against them in Mutiny and Rebellious disorder, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO those who mock and profane the Holy Images (IKONS/ICONS) and Relics, which the HOLY CHURCH affirms to be revelations of Gods work and of His Chosen ones, to inspire those who gaze upon them with piety to emulate them; and who dare to say that they are fond things, vainly invented, and are grounded upon no warranty of scripture, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO the Theosophists and other heretics who dare to say and irrationally teach that our Lord Jesus Christ did not descend to earth and become incarnate once only, but hath been incarnate many times; and who likewise deny that the true Wisdom of the Father is His only Beotten Son, and, contrary to divine Scripture and the teaching of the holy fathers, seek other wisdoms, ANATHEMA! (x3) TO the masons, followers of the occult, spiritualists, wizards, and all who do not believe in the one God, but honor the demons,or who do not humbly give their lives over to God, but strive to learn the future through sorcery, ANATHEMA! (X3) half step up in volume TO the persecutors of the Church of Christ, impious apostates, and, proselytizing wolves who, seek to lead the faithful away from the Church, and lifted their hands against the anointed of God, who slay His sacred ministers, who profane the holy things, who destroy the temples of God, who subject our brethren to Inquisition, Conversion, peaceable or otherwise, and have defiled our Orthodox Christian Homelands, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO the truly non-existent and fallen Arch-Heretic Pope and Patriarch of Old Rome Francis, And Any future Pope that comes after Him, and those in Communion with Him, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO the Protestant Innovators who rebelled against the Papacy, But, failed to Unite with the Orthodox Church, John Wesley, John Calvin, Martin Luther, Henry Zwingli, Henry VIII the Impious king, And those with them, and all heretical and offshoots of the Protestant Reformation, ANATHEMA! (X3)

TO Those who deny and rebuke the Panagia, The Con-substantial, Indivisible and Life-Giving Trinity, The Rabbi's of Judaism, The Islamists, The Anonymous Tracts of the Watchtower Society, The Jehovah's Witnesses and the Church of Latter Day Saints, also known as the Mormons, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO those who deny the Holy 4 th, 5th , 6th, and 7th Ecumenical Councils, The Monophysites, Monothelites, Armenians and Monergists, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO Those who teach, preach [and actively participate in] the Pan-heresy of Inter-Christian and Inter-Religious Syncretistic Ecumenism, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO those who attack the Church of Christ by teaching that Christs Church is divided into so-called branches which differ in doctrine and way of life, or Lungs, or that the Church does not exist visibly but will be formed in the future, when all branches or sects or denominations, and even religions, will be united into one body; and who do not distinguish the priesthood and holy mysteries of the Church from those of Heretics, but say that the baptism and eucharist of heretics is effectual for salvation; therefore, TO those who knowingly have communion with these aforementioned heretics or who advocate, disseminate or defined their new heresy, commonly called ecumenism or the Pan-Heresy of Ecumenism, under the pretext of brotherly love or the supposed unification of separated Christians, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO Those who believe that the Holy Church is Divided into Branches or Lungs [and other body parts] or other such blasphemies, ANATHEMA! (X3) TO those who teach that Judaism is some kind of elder brother to Our precious Christian Orthodox faith, or who teach That there is a concept called Judeo-Christianity, ANATHEMA! (X3) To those who undertake Hellenic Pagan studies also known as Hellenic neo-Paganism (Dodekatheonismos) not only for purposes of education but also follow after their vain opinions and ritualistic practices, and are so thoroughly convinced of their truth and validity that they shamelessly introduce them and teach them to others, sometimes secretly and sometimes openly, ANATHEMA (x3) To those who believe, that the return of the Jews to the Holy Land, and the establishment of the State of Israel in 1948, is in accordance with Biblical prophecy. (Christian Zionists, Dispensationalists, Darbyites, Christians United for IsraelFie!, and other such Protestant Cults), ANATHEMA (x3) To those who deny that the Orthodox Catholic Church of Christ is the New Israel, and that the Old Israel of the Pharisees, Sadducees and the Temple of Jerusalem have fallen away, and do not make up the Israel of God.And, as a result have forfeited their rights to the Holy Land/Palestine. ANATHEMA (x3) From old Rome have come certain persons who learned there to wear Latin habits. The worst of it is how, from being Romans of Rumelia (Roumelia, Roumeli) bred and born, they not only have changed their faith, but they even wage war upon the Orthodox dogmas and truths of the Eastern Church which have been delivered to us by Christ and the divine Apostles and the Holy Councils (or Synods) of the Holy Fathers. Therefore, cutting off these persons as rotten members, we command: That whoever does not confess with heart and mouth that he is a child of the Eastern Church baptized in Orthodox style, and that the Holy Spirit proceeds out of only the Father, essentially and hypostatically, as Christ says in the Gospel, shall be outside of our Church and shall be anathematized. That whoever does not confess that at the Mystery of Holy Communion the laity must also partake of both kinds, of the Precious Body and Blood, but instead says that he will partake only of the body, and that that is sufficient because therein is both flesh and blood, when as a matter of fact Christ said and administered each separately, and they who fail to keep such customs, let all such persons be anathematized. ANATHEMA (x3) That whoever says that our Lord Jesus Christ at the Mystic Supper had unleavened bread (made without yeast), like that of the Jews, and not leavened bread, that is to say, bread raised with yeast, let him depart far away from us and let him be anathema as one having Jewish views and those of Apolinarios and bringing dogmas of the Armenians into our Church, on which account let him be doubly anathema. ANATHEMA (x3)

Whoever says that our Christ and God, when He comes to judge us, does not come to judge souls together with bodies, or embodied souls, but instead comes to sentence only bodies, let him be anathema. ANATHEMA (x3) Whoever says that the souls of Christians who repented while in the world but failed to perform their penance go to a purgatory of fire when they die, where there is flame and punishment, and are purified, which is simply an ancient Greek myth, and those who, like Origen, think that hell is not everlasting, and thereby afford or offer the liberty or incentive to sin, let him and all such persons be anathema. ANATHEMA (x3) That whoever says that the Pope is the head of the Church, and not Christ, and that he has authority to admit persons to Paradise with his letters of indulgence or other passports, and can forgive sins as many as a person may commit if such person pay money to receive from him indulgences, i.e., licenses to sin, let every such person be anathema. ANATHEMA (x3) That whoever does not follow the customs of the Church as the Seven Holy Ecumenical Councils decreed, and Holy Pascha, and the Menologion with which they did well in making it a law that we should follow it, and wishes to follow the newly-invented Paschalion and the New Menologion of the atheist astronomers of the Pope, and opposes all those things and wishes to overthrow and destroy the dogmas and customs of the Church which have been handed down by our fathers, let him suffer anathema and be put out of the Church of Christ and out of the Congregation of the Faithful. ANATHEMA (x3) To those who fall away from the Holy Orthodox Catholic Faith, embracing false doctrines, dogmas or heresies, to the scandal of our brethren, ANTHEMA (x3) CHOIR: ANATHEMA, ANATHEMA, ANATHEMA!!! End like the reading of an Epistle DEACON: And celebrating the annual commemoration of all who, by word, writing, teaching, suffering and pious life have contended for Orthodoxy as its defenders and allies, The Church of the Christ doth exclaim: TO All the Holy and Right-Believing rulers throughout the World, to rulers of this nation, its civil authorities, and armed forces fallen asleep in the Lord, MEMORY ETERNAL! TO the Blessed and Ever-Memorable Patriarch/Metropolitans/Archbishops/Bishops of National Church, Diocese, their, Eminences (N/N and N), MEMORY ETERNAL! TO those who suffered and were slain in various ways for the Orthodox Faith, and all Orthodox Christians who have fallen asleep in true faith in hope of the resurrection and life eternal, MEMORY ETERNAL! CHOIR: MEMORY ETERNAL! DEACON: The Orthodox Church of Christ, solemnly commemorating those who have contended in Piety, and urging all her children to emulate this, likewise hath the duty to praise the struggles of those who now, preparing themselves for eternal blessedness with saving faith and virtue, Confess Orthodoxy. TO those who love Christian piety, the defenders and protectors of the Church of Christ, The Rulers of our Country its leaders and civil authorities, and armed forces, grant, O Lord, a prosperous and peaceful life MANY YEARS! TO the Entire Synod, national Church, Diocese (N), to Our Lord, The Most Blessed (N of a Hierarch of a National Church or Diocese) and to Our Lord the Most Reverend N, Archbishop of Diocese X, MANY YEARS! TO this land, to every Land wherein Christians do dwell; and to all Orthodox Christians who hold the saving Faith in the Orthodox Manner and who submit to the law of Christ, Grant, O Lord a properous and peaceful Life MANY YEARS! CHOIR: MANY YEARS! GLORY TO THEE, OUR GOD AND BENEFACTOR, UNTO THE AGES OF AGES. AMEN.

The faithful come up and venerate the Holy Cross and the icons held by the clergy and servers. The Choir Chanteth the Te Deum Laudemus of Saint Ambrose of Milan

AMEN. GLORY TO GOD FOR ALL THINGS. END Anathemas of Sunday of Orthodoxy

Gospel reading according to St. Matthew 11:2-15 Now when John had heard in the prison the works of Christ, he sent two of his disciples, and said unto him, Art thou he that should come, or do we look for another? Jesus answered and said unto them, Go and shew John again those things which ye do hear and see: The blind receive their sight, and the lame walk, the lepers are cleansed, and the deaf hear, the dead are raised up, and the poor have the gospel preached to them. And blessed is he, whosoever shall not be offended in me. And as they departed, Jesus began to say unto the multitudes concerning John, What went ye out into the wilderness to see? A reed shaken with the wind? But what went ye out for to see? A man clothed in soft raiment? behold, they that wear soft clothing are in kings houses. But what went ye out for to see? A prophet? yea, I say unto you, and more than a prophet. For this is he, of whom it is written, Behold, I send my messenger before thy face, which shall prepare thy way before thee. Verily I say unto you, Among them that are born of women there hath not risen a greater than John the Baptist: notwithstanding he that is least in the kingdom of heaven is greater than he. And from the days of John the Baptist until now the kingdom of heaven suffereth violence, and the violent take it by force. For all the prophets and the law prophesied until John. And if ye will receive it, this is Elias, which was for to come. He that hath ears to hear, let him hear. After the Gospel reading the Bishop (if no bishop then the priest) will read the following Anathemas. Bishop: To those who scorn the venerable and holy ecumenical Councils, and who despise even more their dogmatic and canonical traditions; and to those who say that all things were not perfectly defined and delivered by the councils, but that they left the greater part mysterious, unclear, and untaught, ANATHEMA. Faithful: Anathema.

To those who hold in contempt the sacred and divine canons of our blessed fathers, which, by sustaining the holy Church of God and adorning the whole Christian Church, guide to divine reverence, ANATHEMA. To all things innovated and enacted contrary to the Church tradition, teaching, and institution of the holy and evermemorable fathers, or to anything hence-forth so enacted, ANATHEMA. To those who accept the visions of the prophets, albeit unwillingly, and who do not O wonder! accept the images seen by the prophets even before the incarnation of the Word, but who babble that the intangible and invisible essence was seen by the prophets, and who, even when they concede that images and types and forms were truly revealed to the prophets, still cannot endure to depict in icons the Word become man and His sufferings for our sake, ANATHEMA. To those who hear the Lords words: Had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed Me and so forth, and who understand Moses when he says, The Lord our God will raise up to you a prophet of your brethren, like me, and who then say that they accept the Prophet, yet they do not permit the grace and universal salvation of the Prophet to be depicted in icons, how He was seen, how He lived with mankind, how He worked healings of incurable passions and diseases, how He was crucified, was buried, and arose, in short, all that He both suffered and wrought for us; to those, therefore, who cannot endure to gaze upon these universal and saving deeds in icons, neither honor nor worship them, ANATHEMA. To those who persist in the heresy of denying icons, or rather the apostasy of denying Christ, and who are not counseled by the Mosaic law to be led to their salvation, nor convinced to return to piety by the apostolic teachings, nor induced by patristic exhortations and explanations to abandon their deception, nor persuaded by the agreement of the Churches of God throughout the whole world, but who have once and for all joined themselves to the portion of the Jews and Greeks: for the blasphemies cast by the Jews and Greeks at the prototype, have been shamelessly used by the former to insult through His icon Him that is depicted therein; therefore, to those who are incorrigibly possessed by this deception and have their ears covered towards every divine word and spiritual teaching, since they are already putrefied members, having cut themselves off from the common body of the Church, ANATHEMA.

To those who do not confess that the Word and Son of God was begotten without change from the Father before the ages, and that in these latter times, out of His abundant loving kindness, He was incarnate of the immaculate Theotokos Mary and became man for our salvation, taking upon Himself all that pertains to us save sin; and to those who do not partake of His holy and immortal Mysteries with fear, since they consider them to be mere bread and common wine rather than the very flesh of the Master and His holy and precious blood shed for the life of the world; to such men be, ANATHEMA. To those who do not worship the Cross of our Lord and God and Savior Jesus Christ as the salvation and glory of the whole world, as that which annulled and utterly destroyed the machinations and weapons of the enemy and redeemed creation from the idols and manifested victory to the world, but who consider the Cross to be a tyrannical weapon; to such men be, ANATHEMA. To those who attack the Church of Christ by teaching that Christs Church is divided into so-called branches which differ in doctrine and way of life, or that the Church does not exist visibly, but will be formed in the future when all branches or sects or denominations, and even religions will be united into one body; and who do not distinguish the priesthood and mysteries of the Church from those of the heretics, but say that the baptism and Eucharist of heretics is effectual for salvation; therefore, to those who knowingly have communion with these aforementioned heretics or who advocate, disseminate, or defend their new heresy of Ecumenism under the pretext of brotherly love or the supposed unification of separated Christians, ANATHEMA. Bishop: To them who confess with word, mouth, heart, and mind, and with both writing and icons depict the incarnate advent of God the Word, ETERNAL MEMORY. Chanter: Eternal memory (3). All the faithful should join in.

Bishop: To them who acknowledge in Christ one Hypostasis, with different essences, and attribute to the one hypostasis both the created and uncreated, the visible and invisible, the passible and impassible, the circumscrible and uncircumscrible; and then who apply on the one hand, to the Divine essence uncreatedness and the like, and, on the other hand, acknowledge with word and icons that the human nature has the other attributes accompanying circumscription, ETERNAL MEMORY. Chanter: Eternal memory (3). Again with all the faithful.

Bishop: To them who believe and preach, that is proclaims, doctrines by means of writings and deeds by means of forms, and link them in a single proclamation, whereby the truth is affirmed in word and icon, ETERNAL MEMORY. Chanter: Chanter: Eternal memory (3). Again with all the faithful. Wherefore, we cry to Thee thankfully: Thou didst fill all things with joy, O our Savior.

Bishop: As the prophets have seen, as the apostles have taught, as the Church has received, as the teachers have set forth in dogmas, as the whole world has understood, as Grace has shone forth, as the truth was demonstrated, as falsehood was banished, as wisdom was emboldened, as Christ has awarded; thus do we believe, thus we speak, thus we preach Christ our true God and His saints, honoring them in words, in writings, in thoughts, in sacrifices, in temples, and in icons, worship ping and respecting the One as God and Master, and honoring the others, and apportioning relative worship to them, because of our common Master for they are His genuine servants. this is the Faith of the apostles, this is the Faith of the fathers, this is the Faith of the Orthodox, this Faith hath established the whole world. Bishop: What God is as great as our God? Thou art our God, who alone worketh wonders

Anathemas Against the Heresy of Ecumenism

1) To the ecumenical so-called Branch Theory, according to which the Church of Christ consists of many separated denominations (schisms): Anathema! Anathema likewise to those who preach this false doctrine, share it, accept it, or are indifferent to it. For thereby they deny the uniqueness of the Church of Christ as expressed in the ninth article of the Nicene Symbol of Faith: "I believe in One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church". 2) To the dogmatic Constitutional Basis of that heretical assembly, the World Council of Churches, which declares that: "The World Council of Churches is a fellowship of churches which confess the Lord Jesus Christ as God and Saviour according to the Scriptures and therefore seek to fulfill together their common calling to the glory of the one God, Father, Son, and Holy Spirit", and to those who consider a general confession of belief in Christ according to the Scriptures as sufficient for unity, there by totally denying Holy Tradition, and who at the same time recognize the various heretical assemblies as Churches of God, and consider their heretical doctrines to be based on Holy Scripture, rather than as false and willful interpretations (which is the very essence of heresy): Anathema! 3) To the ecumenical doctrine which recognizes the assemblies of the heretics as grace-bearing and possessing uninterrupted Apostolic Succession, and which considers possible a "union" between the Orthodox and Non-Orthodox Churches (see: "Journal of the Moscow Patriarchate", No. 2, 1961, p. 69)without a unity in Faith, or based on the concept of so-called doctrinal minimum, which has been openly proclaimed at the various ecumenistic gatherings and expressed in official documents: Anathema! 4) To the documents adopted as a result of the "theological" dialogue held between the Orthodox and Monophysites (Chambsy, Switzerland, 1990, 1993),in which both are recognized as Orthodox, and the Monophysites' Christological heresy is declared to be Orthodox doctrine, where by the Forth Ecumenical Council at Chalcedon is rejected and condemned, and all subsequent Ecumenical Councils are ignored: Anathema! 5) To the documents adopted as a result of the "theological" dialogue between the pseudoOrthodox and the Papists, in particular the so-called Balamand Unia (1993), which refers to the Papist assembly as a "Sister Church", and which declares that it possesses grace and uninterrupted Apostolic Succession, that its sacraments are true, and which forbids proselytizing (i.e., the conversion from the Papal error to the saving faith of the Orthodox Church): Anathema! 6) To those who unlawfully "lifted" the Anathemas placed on the Papist assembly in 1054, and to those who did not resist this lawlessness and by this very act placed themselves in opposition to

the Holy and Great Synods held in Constantinople (in 1341, 1347, and 1351) which condemned the Papal innovation, and likewise to those who do not consider Papism to be a heresy and who consider ecclesiastical union with the Latin heretics to be admissible: Anathema! 7) To the agreement reached in Antioch in 1991, as a result of which the Orthodox Church of Antioch entered into full ecclesiastical union with the Syrian Monophysites, the Jacobites: Anathema! Anathema to all those who do not consider Monophysites to be heretics and who do not avoid prayerful and eucharistic communion with them. For they have all been anathematized by the 630 Holy Fathers present at the Fourth Ecumenical Council held in Chalcedon, and remain under ban now and in the age to come. 8) To the so-called New Style, which appeared as a result of the introduction of the Papal Gregorian Calendar into the Orthodox Church, and which is totally inadmissible canonically, and constitutes a dogmatic-ecclesiological heresy inasmuch as it rejects the holy doctrines, Tradition, and liturgical unity of the Church, as well as the ninth article of the Nicene Symbol of Faith: "I believe in One, Holy, Catholic, and Apostolic Church": Anathema! (For it is not possible both to keep the Fast and to celebrate Christmas or Pascha in one and the same Church, and at one and the same time -- as occurs in the ecumenistic pseudo-Orthodox assemblies.) The Papal Calendar has already been condemned by Canon I of the Local Council of Antioch and by the Local Councils of Constantinople (in 1583, 1587, and 1598). "Whosoever does not follow the customs of the Church which the seven Holy Ecumenical Councils have decreed, and the Holy Pascha and calendar which they have enacted well for us to follow, but wants to follow the newly-invented Paschalion and the new calendar of the atheist astronomers of the Pope, and, opposing them, wishes to overthrow and destroy the doctrines and customs of the Church which we have inherited from our Fathers, let any such have the anathema and let him be outside of the Church and the Assembly of the Faithful. "We exhort all pious and Orthodox Christians: remain in those things which you learned and in which you were born and bred, and when the times and circumstances call for it, shed your very blood in order both to keep the Faith given us by our Fathers and to keep your confession." Jeremias II, Patriarch of Constantinople Silvester, Patriarch of Alexandria Sophronius, Patriarch of Jerusalem and the rest of the Bishops of the Synod who were present (Constantinople, 1583) 9) To those who flouted the resolutions of the aforementioned Councils condemning and banning the Gregorian Paschalion and calendar, and who willfully, treacherously, and forcibly introduced this novelty into the Church, or who support the New Style and attempt to establish it in the Church or are unscrupulous and indifferent in their relations with the excommunicated adherents of the New Style, and who do not wish to severe ecclesiastical union with them: Anathema! Let

them read again the words of the Anathema pronounced by His Holiness, Cyril V, Patriarch of Constantinople upon the innovators in his "Sigillion" of 1756. 10) To the heretical and blasphemous ecumenistic "liturgies" (e.g., theso-called Lima Liturgy) in which "members of the Orthodox Church" participate, likewise to the common services during which Orthodox Christians pray together with heretics and take part in various "sacred rites", whereby abomination is introduced into the Church, and in violation of the Tenth, Forty-fifth, and Eighty-fifth Apostolic Canons and Canon Thirty-three of the Local Council of Laodicea: Anathema! Anathema also to those who give the Body and Blood of Christ to the heretics, or who receive their false "communion" from them. Anathema to those who serve other ecclesiastical Mysteries for the heretics, or participate in their "sacraments". 11) To those who pray with pagans, shamans, magicians, priests and wizards of heathen cults, and to those who join in their meditation sessions and cultic rituals, or who conduct "divine services" at their "altars", and to all the participants in the various Pan-ecumenical Sundays: Anathema! 12) To all the other heretical doctrines and documents of the ecumenists which were jointly prepared by them and which they now seek to secretly and stealthily introduce into the Church: Anathema! To those who do not reverence the dogmatic and canonical teachings of the Orthodox Church, Her Holy Tradition and practices, and who attempt to introduce the spirit of Renovationism into the Church of Christ: Anathema! To those who sympathize with the aforementioned and anathematized doctrines and acts, and who attempt to defend and justify them, or who assume an attitude of lukewarm indifference towards them: Anathema! To all the heresies and heretics anathematized by the Ecumenical and Local Councils, we, together with the Holy Fathers, proclaim: Anathema! Anathema to all heretics! Anathema! Anathema!
