I earned my MBA and BBA in Marketing and Management from Radford University. I have continued to sharpen my professional skills by attending conferences and training related to current HR developments. Additionally, I belong to the Society for Human Resource Management (SHRM). SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS Moved Benefits Plans, Saving Hundreds of Thousands. Knorr was fully insured for medical and prescription plans, but had no arrangement for cost containment. Moved to self-funded plans, immediately saving the company $200K, and removing costly and unnecessary coverage. Remained below national average on medical and prescription costs. Improved Internal Process, Resolving Conflict and Improving Productivity. Clendenin Brothers faced displeased staff due to inner-office conflicts. Met with managers, providing training programs, setting expectations and learning communication tactics. Presented training, producing a more harmonious work place and improved productivity. Streamlined Process, Expanding Access to Information and Increasing Productivity. Knorr lacked online HR forms. Worked with Benefits Administrator, IT and Quality departments to put all HR forms on the company intranet, providing links for employees to access. Reduced need for employees to leave work stations, increasing productivity. Directed Change Management. Observed unproductive department at Clendenin Brothers. Met with staff to explore improvements. Proposed plan to senior management, adjusting job assignments and hiring new staff members. Oversaw new hire training, resulting in higher productivity and exceeding departmental goals. Collaborated with Benefits Broker to Increase Offerings. Saw opportunity to move Knorr benefit package to another broker to control costs. Researched broker options, negotiating a plan that offered more for the same rate, locked in for three years. Kept benefits well below national average increase, offering expanded services to staff. Grew Work Force While Reducing Turnover. Knorr faced moderately low employee turnover but sought to decrease rate. Recruited and trained new staff, growing work force from 150 to 285 employees while increasing retention to 98%. Reduced expenses in recruiting and training. CAREER SUMMARY Director of Human Resources, Knorr Brake Corporation, $100M transportation manufacturing company, 2001 to 2012. Supporting three US facilities, I managed recruiting, hiring, and training. Controlling compensation and benefits, I directed organizational development, HR compliance, conflict resolution and process improvements. Human Resources Manager, Clendenin Brothers, Inc., US manufacturing company, 1986 to 2001. I developed and implemented employee safety, labor relations, policies, procedures and benefit package including 401K and pension plans. Directing hiring and training, I participated in contract negotiations, administration and conflict resolution. Additional: Active in my community, I lead a yearly campaign for United Way, as well as food and clothing drives. I also volunteer regularly at local high schools and the community colleges with a variety of programs.
