Destination attractions could include art colony, studio/homes for artists/craftsmen in a
colony - open to customers x
Desert Sustainability Center - there are very exciting developments here in solar/adobe/art
energy for all Sun Belt Lifestyles happening now. x x
Mineralogy center - a geological wonderland x
Glaring deficiencies in Bisbee: no dry cleaner, no movie theater, no hardware on Sunday,
no library on Sunday. x x
Require land owners with more than an acre to leave a certain percentage undeveloped
and natural. x

The three districts could compliment each other very well: old Bisbee - tourism, Warren-
residential, San Jose-commercial. x

How do we get to and through transitioning to form based code x

Slow growth and sustainability may help in the process
Consider the affects of development on ecology like dust, heat islands, etc. x x
Naco Hwy has become a trucking corridor - they need to use Willson Rd. instead x
Does form base code supplant or compliment Design Review? (Compliments) x
Add precautionary principle regarding scale and phasing "Slow and Cautious" x
More emphasis on beauty and landscaping x
Bring together the three districts symbolically x

The following 13 items were hand delivered to the charrette team in a typed letter.
No water sucking golf courses x
No Historic Bisbee commercial building architecture for an area that only started
developing in the 1950s. We cannot repeat these types of mistakes. x
ADOT Safety concerns: Sidewalks . None on Hwy 92; Sight lines at all intersections in
Don Luis; Look better - a creative solution; Cars for sale on right of way; Timely
maintenance and weed control - needed in second week of August, not the second week of
October; Turn lanes off highway 91; Stop people from passing on the right. Stop Bisbee
Police from passing on the right. x
Border Patrol: Stop the continuous speeding and aggressive driving. x
General Appearance: Trashy look when you come into town. Public responsibility to clean
trash on land in front of your business; Open trash containers are a big nuisance as they
allow plastic bags and trash to blow all over the community and it looks terrible when you
drive into San Jose from any directions. x x
Public buildings show how much a community cares about its appearance to its citizens
and visitors. x x
Post office: Not enough parking; weed control on the property and in the parking lot; Has I
don't care abougt where I work appearance. x x
Speeding on Naco Highway x
Sidewalks needed in many areas. x x
Please do not waste time talking about businesses such as more restaurants, a movie
theater and another grocery store. The private sector will open them when the population
increases, demand is there and when someone is willing to risk a large amount of money in
the process. x
At least one big park for people of all ages with play fields for children. This has been a
political failure for the past 10 years. x

A library branch with parking. Old Bisbee does not have parking and is not convenient for
most people who live in Warren or San Jose. x
Bisbee is an eclectic community - should not be the same homogeneous community - do
not want it to look like California - subdivision fronted by strip malls - everything looks the
same. x x x

The following six entries came to the charrette team in a signed letter.
There are no parks and or recreation in the San Jose District. I would like to see a sports
comkplex built with lighted ball fields, basketball courts, tennis courts, a multi-use path, and
an aquatic center. If the San Jose district is to grow it needs something that will attract
families to want to live here. A sports complex like this would be a terrific magnet for
growth in this area. x
Collins Road is narrow, unlighted and dangerous. This road should be widened an a multi-
use path should be constructed on the north side of Collins Road so that residents in the
area can walk safely to and from the Safeway shopping center and also to walk their dogs
and exercise. x
A traffic light should be constructed at the intersection of Naco Highway and Collins Road
to slow down traffic coming in both directions and allow traffic from the Collins Road area
rto safely enter onto Naco Highway in both directions. This area will no doubt be the key to
future business and residential growth and traffic in this area must be regulated to insure
the safety of motorists and pedestrians alike. x

The area at the southwest corner of the intersection of Highway 92 and Naco Highway and
the area further south on Naco Highway that is used as some kind of junk yard should be
condemed and converted into a major retail shopping area. The City of Bisbee should also
consider moving their offices from the diapidated building on Arizona Street to a new facility
in this area or near the County complex on Melody Lane. x x
Woven within the newly developed areas should be green/desert belts with native plants,
grasses and vegetation with multi-use paths for bikers, joggers, dog walkers, etc. This is
currently being effectibel done throughout the Sierra Vista area along with major public
thoroughfares. x
I would hope that the Charrette Team will not be unduly influenced by certain factions from
Old Bisbee who are opposed to any growth in the San Jose Disgrict and are hell bent to
prevent anything that will change the status quo in this City. The development of the San
Jose District, in my opinion, is Bisbee's only hope for the future economic survival of this
City.
