duotone
tritone
Any number of effects can be achieved through the simple act of screening an image. Combining techniques can vary the effect in surprising ways. For example, a black-oncolor screen is similar to a duotone, in that both contain dots of two colors. They differ in that each separate plate of a duotone will carry the image, but one plate of the black-on-color will simply be a solid tone.

There is a simple rule to govern how images should be scanned. Double the line screen at which the image will be printed, and you will derive the number of dots per inch at which the image should be scanned.
