MovementandWorldInteraction Whenmovingaroundaseithercharacter,thoughAllensactionsonlandwilltendtobe moredemanding,theirmovementswillcarrymomentumandtheycansprint.Incombatthe playercantakecoverbehindwhateverisavailablebeitadumpster,treeorchesthighwall. Therewontbemuchclimbingorverticalmovementunlessstairsareinvolved,nojumping. WhileonlandtheteammemberswillfollowAllen.Teammembersthatarebroughtalong willdependontheplanetandeventtheyareabouttoexperience. FromthemainareaofwhateverplanetorstationAlleniscurrentlyvisitinghecaninteract withpeople,pickuporinspectobjectsandactivatedoorstotransitionindoors.Whenheisready toleavetheplayerwillguidehimbacktotheirshuttle. Combat Whencombatstartsthefightingcharacterswillreadytheirweaponsandthesupporting squadmemberswilltakecoverorfallback.Theseteammemberscanstillbecome incapacitatedbutwillattempttostayoutofharmswayontheirownandwillnotbepriority targetsforenemies.Allteammemberscanbegivenorderstogotoacertainlocationandtake cover,concentratefireonacertainenemy,andfallin.Thiscanbedonebylookingatateam
memberandpushingthesquadorderbuttontosummonthemenu.Fallinwillalwaysrefertoall allieswhileothercommandswillbespecifictowhoischosen,someteammembershave specialactionslikehealing,grenadesorcoveringfire. Combatwillandtheweaponsprovidedwillcatertolongrange,theoptiontohitanenemy thatstormstheplayerpositionwillbeavailable.Bymovingtoanobjectorpieceofsceneryand pressingthecoverbuttonthecharacterwillsnaptocoverandbeabletolookoverandfireor blindfire.Lowobstaclescanbevaultedoverwhensnappedtocoveroruponrunningatit. Enemieswilltrytoemploycoverandusearmorwhentheycanandaremostvulnerable todamagewhenoutintheopenorunarmored.Ashottotheheadorcertainweakspotswilldeal moredamage. EnemiesWwhatweaponanenemyhaswilldictatehowclosetheyllgetandhowbold theyare.Enemieswithrifleswillstayback,butashotgunnerwillchargeaheadand ignorecovermoreoften.Thoughacloserangeweapondoesnotmeantheywillblindly chargeahead,meleeenemieswilltravelfromcovertocoverandworktheirwaytoyou, especiallyiftheyhaverangedenemiesbackingthemup. Thecousinstravelthroughknownspacespeakingwithscientists,experts,andafew questionablecharacterstocompilethemaptheylluseinthesecondact.Onesuch questionablecharacterisVossMcLoy,theleaderofadecentlysizedcriminalorganization. Whenhelearnsofthecousinsmissionheattemptstostonewallthemsohecansellthe informationtoothersthatwouldvaluesuchamap.Theyultimatelyformthemapbysneaking intoMcLoyscomplexandbreakingintohisdatanetwork.InretaliationMcLoysendsoutan operativetosabotagetheexpedition.Duringthistimeseveralworldsandstationswillbevisited, largestofwhichwillbealuxurioushumancolony,McLoysscummyhomeworld,ascientific spacestation,andbrieflytheLastStop,aspacestationattheedgeofknownspace. Afterformingthemap,ReginaandAllenleaveKnownSpaceandsearchforacolony site.Throughoutthejourneytheystarttoseelessandlessofahumanpresence,bynowthere islittletonone.Astheyscanandprobemostlyuninhabitableorriskycolonizationoptionsthey leaveresearchstationsthatareeitherunmannedorhaveadozenpeopletomonitorthesystem andsetupachainofcommunications.Theyeventuallydiscoverapromisingsystemthathas
severalplanetswithanEarthlikeatmosphere,oneisalargedesertworldandtheotherisa worldsmallerthanEarthbutcoveredinjungleandsea. Thegroundteamsooncomesintocontactwithanotherspeciesonthedesertplanet. Thesehumanoidbeingspossessaleveloftechnologysimilarto21stcenturyEarths.Usingan advancedtranslatortheystarttheprocessoflearningeachotherslanguage.Thediscoveryis announcedandnegotiationsarebroughtupaboutthejungleworld,whichhappenstobethe homeofanoutpostofthesepeoplewhocallthemselvesthePevelreas.FewPevelresionsare opposedtohumanitybecomingtheirneighborssinceatradeofinformationatthispointwill benefitbothraces. BeforecolonizationcanbeginMcLoysagentstrikesablowtotheshipandattemptto destroyitwhileenroutetotheotherplanet.Theyrepelaboardingpartyandmakeittothejungle planetwheretheyfinallymeetSinclaire,thefemalemercenary,directly.ReginaandAllenare takenabackbyherlevelofbrutality.Afterdispatchinghersoldiersanddealingaseriouswound, Sinclaireattemptstofleeinwhatremainsofhership.Afterfiringuponitevenmoreatechnician statesthatallofhersystemswillbedeadinamatterofminutes.Reginacountsthisasawin, butAllenwouldratherseeabody. Finallythecolonyandthemajorityofthecrewstartthecolonizationprocess,butthis journeyisnotoverforthecousins.Theytakeessentialcrewmembersandsetacoursefora systemonthegalacticedge.AlongthewaydamagefromtheirfightwithSinclaireshowsandthe shipishavingadifficulttimeholdingtogether.Theyencounteravolatilenebulaethatdoesnot helpthematterandAllendemandstheyturnaround.Reginawontletthisstopherfromreaching theedgeandAllenstartsamutinythatsplitstheshipintwountiltheyreachtheedge.Theplayer isallowedtochoosewhatcousintocontrolatthispoint.Reginaholdsupinthecommandcenter asAllenattemptstoturntheshiparoundbyothermeans.BothcousinsfightuntilSinclaire returnsforthefinalbattle.
