The honorable Juries, Dear my friends who participate in this speech contest, And my loving brother and sisters In the name of Allah, the beneficent and the Merciful. All praises be to Allah SWT, the lord of the world, the master of the day, the creator of everything in this universe, where he has no partner. He has given us such deeply enjoyable, particularly faith and healthy comfort, we could attend here in a good situation. Peace and be salutation be upon our prophet Muhammad SAW, who has taught us the cardinal principles of the unity of God, obliged us to confess it with the tongue and believe it in the heart. He also brought us from the darkness to the brightness, from stupidity to cleverness. Ladies and Gentlemen Indeed, it is very great pleasure for me in this precious chance to deliver my speech to the most honorable audiences entitled: Save our earth Ladies and Gentlemen, As we know, people from all over the world always commemorate Earth Day every 22nd April. The idea of earth day is based on the awareness to save this world from the environmental destruction. It aims at making global movements to participate actively in saving our earth the only planet in which we live. Ladies and Gentlemen, Our country, Indonesia, which is known as the emerald of equator, has an important role to keep the balance of world ecological system. 63 percent (or 1,134,000 km2) of our land territory is still as a forest. Meanwhile, the water area is more than 317,000,000 km2. 17 percent of world plant and animal species live in Indonesia. It indicates that the ecosystem and environmental condition in Indonesia will affect the world. In other words, the environmental damage in Indonesia will influence the sustainability of world environment. Ladies and Gentlemen One of the causes of environmental damage is deforestation, or known as the destruction of forest. The deforestation has caused many disasters in this world, including Indonesia.

Floods, earthquakes and landslides are examples of killing disasters which make us realize that the existence of forest is very important. Ladies and Gentlemen, In Addition, another effect of deforestation is related with the global warming or the increase of global surface temperature which is mainly caused by the greenhouse effects. We all know, one of the most crucial issues in celebrating Earth Day is the global warming. It warns us that our earth is in danger and we should participate actively to take care of our environment. Ladies and Gentlemen, The question is, what is the relationship between global warming, deforestation, and Indonesia? Indonesia lies in the equator, between the Tropics of Cancer and Capricorn. Because of its location, Indonesia is rich of rainforests. Scientists state that the function of rainforests is as the lungs of the world. They absorb greenhouse gas emissions, turn carbon dioxide (CO2) into oxygen (O2). It means that if deforestation keeps going on, the greenhouse effects cannot be reduced and finally the global warming will keep increasing. Ladies and Gentlemen, We live in the same world; in this earth. The importance of saving our environment, especially our rainforests, is the need for all of us, for human being to survive. It is not only for us, but also for our next generation. As Michael Jackson quoted in his song Heal the world make it a better place For you and for me and the entire human race There are people dying if you care enough For the living make a better place For you and for me Ladies and Gentlemen Since the issue of globalism and modernization sounded, countries compete to beautify their own country. All the area is converted into the magnificent and high classy buildings. Technology which is too over, the sophistication which is too revolutionary make forest extinct. Earth like breathing in the mud, tightness! Is it too difficult to see a realize the fact? Hasnt the fact already shown itself bluntly? The hotter earth, the holes ozone layer, the increases global warming, the spreading flood and pollution becomes insoluble problems, and people keep stay on egos. Isnt enough, friends? Will we be just like immoral man, let the earth dying? There are many simple activities that we can do in order to participate in saving our earth. Here are some examples: 1. Stop deforestation and do reforestation movement 2. Reduce fuel consumption 3. Use environmentally friendly products

4. Reduce the use / purchase of goods made of plastic because almost all of plastic

waste will produce harmful gases when burned and can pollute the environment. 5. Be efficient in the use of water and electrical energy consumption 6. Reduce the use of materials containing aerosols 7. Join and participate in environmental campaigns, such as Earth Day, Save Our Earth and Stop Global Warming. Ladies and Gentlemen, Actually it is just easy for you but its great for nature. You just to do protect our environment live it, give it the freedom to protect earth and make it smile. Dont let any government program aground in the middle of the way. Support with real action. Because today is concern, for something better in the future. Well, I guess thats all I can tell.
