Go to the website www.publicsafety.utah.gov/bci and find the year end 2011 Crime in Utah Report. Locate the Uniform Crime Report table labeled 2011 Crime in Utah, Local Agency Overview. Identify the crime rate for the city in which you reside and compare that with the crime rate for St. George, Utah. Write a brief paragraph describing what factors you think might contribute to the difference in crime rates between the two cities (i.e., demographics, officers per 1,000 population, etc.) Convert the arrest data for Index (Part 1) Crimes from the table above into a pie chart which shows each of the Part 1 crime arrests for the year 2011. What percentage of all the Part 2 crimes are drug offenses? Describe the reasons why you think these crimes may, or may not be related to other property crimes and crimes against persons. Most crime categories showed a decrease in arrests from 2010 to 2011. Identify three (3) categories that saw increases in arrests and describe the reasons why you think arrest rates rose in those areas. 37 5 220 392 1,182 1,149 13,805 226 9,328 43 26,387 936 919 22 604 2,502 921 394 367 447 384 133 344 0 1,126 3,287 325 2,599 0 0 0 1 1,565 7,238 7,845 4,170 3,373 156 35,188 1 74,847 101,234 2011 33 6 151 309 1,236 1,174 13,378 281 8,679 37 25,284 827 764 38 650 2,240 893 452 310 360 301 75 284 0 1,074 3,626 346 2,702 0 0 1 4 1,537 6,462 8,070 4,310 3,078 52 32,778 0 71,234 96,518 %Change -10.81% 20.00% -31.36% -21.17% 4.57% 2.18% -3.09% 24.34% -6.96% -13.95% -4.18% -11.65% -16.87% 72.73% 7.62% -10.47% -3.04% 14.72% -15.53% -19.46% -21.61% -43.61% -17.44% 0.00% -4.62% 10.31% 6.46% 3.96%
