Why choose bespoke furniture over mass produced options? The key benefit is that you can create something that makes the best use of the space within a particular learning environment. Produced from high quality materials, Thamesgates bespoke furniture offers the added advantage of excellent durability, delivering many years return on investment.

All under one roof

We have extensive experience in the design and manufacture of tailor-made furniture for school and college storage, seating and workspaces including: Libraries Class and staff rooms ICT suites Food technology rooms Office and reception areas

Our end-to-end, in-house service starts with an initial site consultation to discuss your requirements and measure the area. From this, we provide 3D designs and a quotation. If alterations are required, one of our design team will liaise with you directly and if necessary, a further site visit can be made. Following design and cost approval, we conduct a more detailed site survey, agree an installation date and start production. One of the advantages of having our own in-house designers and joinery workshop is that we do not require long lead times for manufacture.

The production process
All our bespoke furniture is produced from scratch. This gives us far more flexibility over shape and use of space than those suppliers who buy in base units and add bespoke surfaces to them. It also means we control the quality of the materials. As a rule, we use laminated 18mm MDF that is robust and durable. We do not use sub-contractors or employ salesmen; the people you meet from our company will be qualified tradesmen, with extensive knowledge and expertise.

renewables
As the cost of energy continues to rise, so too does the appeal of Solar Photovoltaic (PV) Panels. Clean, renewable and reliable, they provide a long-term, environmentally friendly solution. They offer real financial benefits too its estimated that a 2.7 kWp system can generate around 50% of a household's yearly electricity needs. If the system is also eligible for the governments Feed-In Tariff it could generate savings and income of around 1,170 per year*.

How does a Solar PV panel generate electricity?

At the heart of a Solar PV system are photovoltaic cells; these convert sunlight into an electric current (working even when skies are cloudy). A wiring system converts and feeds the power generated into the AC mains supply of a building.

MCS and NICEIC approved installation

There are significant differences between the installation of PV panels and other electrical work panels are delicate and the sun is an energy source that cannot be switched off. As a result, Solar PV should only be installed by MCS approved installers. All Thamesgates PV installation staff have undergone the required training to meet NICEICs industry-leading, stringent criteria for MCS. This means you can trust us to provide accurate information and, if you decide to proceed, safe and effective implementation.

A guide to Feed-In Tariffs
The government-backed Feed-In Tariff (FIT) is a guaranteed payment by your utility company for every unit of electricity you produce. This is in addition to the savings you make by using the electricity or selling it back to the grid. To qualify for the FIT, your Solar Panels must be installed by an MCS certified installer. A degradation factor of 7% a year on the tariff after the first two years, means that those who sign up for the FIT in the third year get 7% less annually than those who sign up in the first or second year. So, if you are considering Solar PV installation, there is a definite benefit to doing so sooner rather than later. Once you have obtained a tariff, it is index-linked and set for 25 years. For more information on the FIT visit: thamesgate.com
