O trabalho voluntrio tem se tornado um importante fator de crescimento das organizaes nogovernamentais, componentes do Terceiro Setor. graas a esse tipo de trabalho que muitas aes da sociedade organizada tm suprido o fraco investimento ou a falta de investimento governamental em educao, sade, lazer etc. Atualmente existem diversas organizaes que se utilizam do trabalho voluntrio de milhares de pessoas, no s no Brasil como em todo o mundo. Bons exemplos de organizaes internacionais so: Cruz Vermelha,"Lions Club Internacional", Rotary Internacional, Mdicos Sem Fronteiras, AFS Intercultural Programs, Engenheiros Sem Fronteiras e o Servio Voluntrio Internacional do Brasil, que tem ramificaes em vrios pases. O SVI Brasil o representante no pas de um movimento pacifista mundial que desde 1920 promove o intercmbio de servios voluntrios. Uma forma de trabalho voluntrio com a participao de milhes de pessoas a computao voluntria, onde indivduos instalam sistemas em seus computadores pessoais para colaborar em projetos cientficos doando capacidade ociosa dos mesmos. O trabalho voluntrio, ao contrrio do que pode parecer, exercido de forma sria e, muitas vezes, necessita de especializao e profissionalismo, j que empresas de toda sorte, como hospitais, clnicas e/ou escolas, por exemplo, precisam do auxlio de profissionais formados em vrias reas. Em Portugal, o exemplo mais antigo e importante representado pelas Associaes Humanitrias de Bombeiros Voluntrios, pilar fundamental do exerccio "Vida por Vida". No Brasil, o Dia Nacional do Voluntariado foi institudo em 28 de agosto de 1985 para reconhecer e destacar a ao das pessoas que doam tempo, mo de obra e talento para causas de interesse social e para o bem da comunidade.

TRABALHO VOLUNTRIO O trabalho voluntrio definido pela Lei 9.608/1998 como a atividade no remunerada prestada por pessoa fsica a entidade pblica de qualquer natureza, ou a instituio privada de fins no lucrativos, que tenha objetivos cvicos, culturais, educacionais, cientficos, recreativos ou de assistncia social, inclusive mutualidade.

Para ser enquadrado no conceito da lei do voluntariado, o trabalho deve ter as seguintes caractersticas: 1. ser voluntrio, ou seja, no pode ser imposto ou exigido como contrapartida de algum benefcio concedido pela entidade ao indivduo ou sua famlia; 2. ser gratuito; 3. ser prestado pelo indivduo, isoladamente, e no como subcontratado de uma organizao da qual o indivduo faa parte e, portanto, seja pela mesma compelido a prest-lo; e 4. ser prestado para entidade governamental ou privada, sendo que estas devem ter fim no lucrativo e voltado para objetivos pblicos. DESPESAS A lei autorizou, tambm, o ressarcimento de despesas incorridas pelo voluntrio, desde que estas sejam expressamente autorizadas pela entidade tomadora e sejam realizadas no desempenho das atividades voluntrias, mediante notas fiscais e recibos.

O mundo precisa de pequenas atitudes como estas, pois no preciso muito para que se faa o bem, basta abrirmos nossos coraes e pensarmos nos demais que precisam de ajuda.
