Welcome to Worship
elcome to New Hope Church, now into our third century serving God! If you are visiting, you will discover a loving, spirit-filled church family. Here is some helpful information as you join us in worship today: All who worship here are equals in the sight of God, regardless of race, age, gender, physical disability or religious affiliation. Communion, when celebrated, is open to all who profess Christ as Lord and Savior, whether affiliated with this church or not. Children may partake of Communion as well, if parents approve. A nursery is available during the service; please see a greeter for directions. (This is for infants and children up to 3 years of age.) Handicap-accessible restrooms are located off the narthex (main foyer) and adjacent to the entrance lobby in the Fellowship Hall/Gym. Please complete the tear-off attendance slip attached to the bulletin and drop it in the offering plate so we will have a record of your visit with us today. Thank you for remembering to silence your cell phone during the service. We ask that there be no food or beverages in the sanctuary, please. If you arrived as a visitor we hope that you leave as a friend and worship with us often! New Hope Church exists to: Glorify God in worship and rejoice in our life together; Share the Good News of the Gospel in word and deed; Reach as many as we can with the saving love of Jesus; Help each person grow toward Christian maturity, and find their place of service in the church and in the world.

Community Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday March 30 at 12:00 noon. We are asking folks to please bring wrapped candy and eggs to the church over the next couple of Sundays for the kids to hunt. This is a community event, so we need lots of stuff. Thanks! Easter is Sunday March 31. We will have breakfast at 8:30 (bring stuff), followed by the Easter Service at 10:00. Adult Small Group Bible Studies are offered on Sunday mornings at 9:00. Karen Crowder leads a topical discussion which meets in the church conference room. Royce Jackson leads a more traditional quarterly-based Bible study which meets in the classroom across from the childrens Creation Station classroom. Both groups are close-knit and enjoy sharing concerns, praying for each other and fellowship. The New Hope Food Pantry Canned goods, non-perishables and dry goods work best. We can use cereals, if we can get them turned out quickly. Take whatever you bring to the kitchen. Please see Evelyn Price or the Pastor if you know anyone inside or outside the church that has a need. Stephen Ministry - Got a burden? You dont have to carry that burden alone. You can have a STEPHEN MINISTER who will spend time with you, listen to you, and walk beside you. If you or someone you know are interested in receiving care through the Stephen Ministry program at New Hope, please contact the pastor through the Church office at (615) 449-7020 and request that a Stephen minister contact you.

Ministries/Activities Within Our Church

It is time to get in your Easter Lily orders. We are doing this over the next three Sundays leading up to Holy Week. Please fill out the portion of the tearoff part of the bulletin and drop it in the offering plate as it comes around. Next Sunday is Palm Sunday, the start of Holy Week. We want as many children as possible to be here to participate in the Procession of the Palms during the Childrens Time. We will also be collecting the One Great Hour of Sharing Offering. Churches from 8 different denominations take offerings on Palm Sunday for disaster relief from around the world. 75% of our offerings will be administered by Church World Service which is a very reputable organization that has been in existence for 65 years. Note that 25% will be administered by our denomination for disaster relief locally, things like our sending to help in the storm disaster a year ago. Good Friday Service of Darkness will be March 29 at 7:15 PM. This is the service where we remember Christs passion and death on the cross. We leave the church in total darkness. A very somber and moving worship experience.

Thought for the Week

ark Hatfield tells of touring Calcutta with Mother Teresa and visiting the socalled "House of Dying," where sick children are cared for in their last days, and the dispensary, where the poor line up by the hundreds to receive medical attention. Watching Mother Teresa minister to these people, feeding and nursing those left by others to die, Hatfield was overwhelmed by the sheer magnitude of the suffering she and her co-workers face daily. "How can you bear the load without being crushed by it?" he asked. Mother Teresa replied, "My dear Senator, I am not called to be successful, I am called to be faithful." - Beyond Hunger, Beals
