The holidays are well behind us; the year stretches out ahead. And what sort of year will it be? To judge by the words of Jesus in todays Gospel, it Baptism of Children nd will be a year acceptable to the Lord. And Jesus surely didnt mean only the 2 Sunday of each month at 1:00pm next three hundred sixty-five days facing his listeners at that time. Call the rectory for a scheduling appointment When Jesus announced the arrival of Gods favor, it was a message for and for information on the baptismal class Baptism in Polish - 4th Sunday of each month all time, for every year. Similarly, we read today in Nehemiah how the people gathered with solemnity to hear Gods word as though for the first time. They at the 9:00am Mass listened, and then fell to the ground and wept. But the prophet said, Today is Catholic Converts & Baptism of holy . . . do not be sad, and do not weep. Adults (RCIA) The year acceptable to the Lord is this year. The day that is holy Phone the Religious Education Office is this day. The time to listen is now. What sort of year will you have? What at 773-625-1705 sort of day? Gods help is always here. What you do with each day can be hoOgoszenia Parafialne po Polsku ly and acceptable to the Lord if you but listen to and act on Gods word.

Respect Life
Jesus, who said that he had come so that we might have life and have it in its fullness, in abundance (cf. Jn10:10), has also explained to us what life means: this is eternal life, that they know you the only true God, and Jesus Christ whom you have sent (Jn 17:3). Life in its true sense is not something we have exclusively in or from ourselves: it is a relationship. And life in its totality is a relationship with him who is the source of life. If we are in relation with him who does not die, who is Life itself and Love itself, then we are in life. Then we live

Please pray for those who have died and their families:

From the Pastors Desk...

The first grade teacher gave her class a fun assignment -- to draw a picture of something for which they were thankful. Douglas was the teacher's true child of misery, frail and unhappy. As other children played at recess, Douglas was likely to stand close by her side. One could only guess at the pain Douglas felt behind those sad eyes. When asked to draw a picture of something for which he was thankful, he drew a hand. Nothing else. Just an empty hand. When the children had gone on to other assignments, the teacher paused at Douglas' desk, bent down, and asked him whose hand it was. The little boy looked away and murmured, I "t's yours, teacher." She recalled the times she had taken his hand and walked with him here or there, as she had the other students. How often had she said, T " ake my hand, Douglas, we'll go outside."Or, L " et me show you how to hold your pencil."Or, L " et's do this together."Douglas was most thankful for his teacher's hand. Brushing aside a tear, she went on with her work. The story speaks of more than thankfulness. It says something about teachers teaching and parents parenting and friends showing friendship, and how much it means to the Douglases of the world. They might not always say thanks. But they'll remember the hand that reaches out. Today we begin celebrating Catholic Schools Week and we pray for all who support the catholic education and especially for the principal, teachers, parents, students, parishioners and all who support Saint Francis Borgia Catholic School. We invite all of you to our school open house. The details are in the school news column in our parish bulletin.

Annual Catholic Appeal 2013 Love Never Fails! 1 Cor 13:8

Please spend some time this week reflecting on the Annual Catholic Appeal brochure that you received with your bulletin. Please remember that the Annual Catholic Appeal campaign is much different than a one-time special collection. It is a pledge campaign where you can make a gift payable in installments. As you review the work enabled by your contribution to the Annual Catholic Appeal, please reflect on Gods gifts to you. He has given you all that you have. Your gifts to our parish, to the Archdiocese and to the work of the Church throughout the world are given in gratitude for the continuing gifts that God gives you. Sometimes it is difficult to envision how one pledge can help an organization the size of our Archdiocese, how it can make a real difference. But each pledge does make a difference because all parishes participate in the campaign and the gifts of many enable our Archdiocese to deliver needed ministries and services. Our combined gifts not only signify our gratitude to God, they fund a significant portion of the work of our Archdiocese. After our parish goal of $ 34,700 is reached in cash, 100% of the additional funds come back to our parish to help to fund our needs. If you received your pledge form in the mail, please complete it and mail it back or bring it to Mass next weekend. For those of you that did not receive a mailing or have not had time to respond to it, we will conduct our in-pew pledge process at all Masses next weekend. Thank you for your prayerful consideration and generous response.

Faith can be Funny

The Sunday School teacher was nervous about teaching the upcoming lesson on hell. She was afraid it would scare her nine and ten-year old students. Today we are going to talk about hell, she told them. What do you know about it? Paul raised his hand eagerly. I dont know where it is, but my mama is always telling my daddy he should go there.

Thank you for sharing your gifts of time, talents, and treasure with your parish!
