A recent study continues to reinforce the powerful relationship between becoming proficient and learning at an accelerated pace.
The wave of the past... learn in lecture by going to class 16 hours a week. The wave of the future... well, actually it started decades ago, when Full Sail was one of the pioneers of a new kind of education. We created a curriculum that features a dynamic and immersive schedule that simulates the production tasks and activities that you would experience working in the industry. Many parallels exist between the techniques or strategies used in accelerated learning and those that are recommended for adult learning: non threatening teaching-learning environments, teachers and learners as equals in collaborative environments, the small groups, and the importance of learners experience as a resource. Within the field of training and development, however, the term accelerated learning is used to identify an approach to learning that is multidimensional in nature and that places the learner at the center of the experience.

Hands-On Labs

Full Sail has a tried and true track record of using a hands-on learning approach where students practice the skills theyll need to get the job they want all while using some of the industrys best equipment. Their training ground is Full Sails 190-acre campus, completely packed with labs, studios, soundstages, and more.

Classroom Training

At Full Sail, classes are designed to be the direct complement to our hands-on labs often giving you insight into the project you are about to work on or reinforcing the project youve just completed. Many courses feature interactive and multimedia presentation tools to supplement the classroom experience.

Using the Web Online Courses

For some of Full Sails less gear-intensive courses, an online component can be an effective modern alternative to classroom instruction. Full Sails curriculum designers pride themselves on making our online courses interesting and engaging, through the use of multimedia, interactive exercises, video, graphics, and more.

EDUCATION
WHAT IS IT?
Professionalism
Professionalism is our Employers #1 Request
In order to better prepare our students for the professional industry, weve implemented and support programs that help develop professionalism to carry them throughout their careers.
Attendance
If you miss a key step in learning the industry pipeline, you might have to call a plumber. Well, maybe not, but heres the thing Full Sail has a 90% attendance policy for a reason. With our accelerated and comprehensive curriculum, missing a day of class or lab might make the difference between you getting the job or not getting the job. Once youre in the industry, youll need to show up for work every day, and at Full Sails its no different.

FULL SAIL REAL WORLD

Grade Point Average (GPA)

At Full Sail, you have a grade for every course, but those grades arent based on tests alone there are practical, hands-on exams that factor into your grade. Its part of our philosophy that learning should be more than attending a lecture, reading a book, memorizing a fact, and regurgitating it back. At the end of the day, we want you to feel confident that you can succeed at your job, which is why your GPA is meant to reflect your talent and proficiency.

Global Professionalism Standards (GPS)

This program gives you a score that directly reflects on your professionalism. This score can be shared with your employer, along with your GPA and attendance. Heres how it works: if youre required to wear an identification badge at your job, you are asked to wear it on campus. If youre required to concentrate and be attentive on the set or in the studio, you are asked to do so while at school. Basically, when our employers told us what they expect on the job, we shared that list with our students. If they match those expectations, they get a score that shows employers their strength as a professional. If they miss on those expectations during their degree program, our faculty can recognize the problem and help students improve before they graduate.

Youre potentially in your career earlier, youve saved money on up to three additional years of living as a college student, and youve been more aggressively prepared for the nonstop pace of the entertainment industry. How do we do it? Well, during their degree programs, Full Sail students are actually simulating an actual work week by

Wow, imagine that - actually being prepared to enter the job market by simulating the hours that it takes to do the job!

Student Critiques
After every course, Full Sail students are asked to complete an anonymous critique of the instructors and course content. We compile those critiques to evaluate student satisfaction with their educators. For the last six years, Full Sail student satisfaction has been above 89% and rising, with students reporting a 92% Average Satisfaction Rating in 2007.

TUITION
THE TWO TRAINS
Full Sail has always presented the entire cost (tuition and fees) associated with our degree programs. At many colleges and universities, it can take a little and sometimes a lot of work to figure that out. Why is that?
Well, its not because any college or university is trying to be confusing. Whats going on is that they all have different formulas to figure out how much it costs to earn your degree. You can take more credits/credit hours in a semester or fewer credits/credit hours. You can be charged tuition by credit hour, or by clock hour, or by semester, and then you have to add in the additional fees and books and supplies youll need, in order to come up with the cost for one Academic Year. Then you have to multiply that Academic Year cost by 2 if you are pursuing an associates degree, by 4 if you are pursuing a bachelors degree, or by 5 or 6 if you are pursuing a masters degree. You get the point its a little cumbersome.

Instead of making you do the math, we did some research to figure out an average total tuition cost for several schools that we have recently been ranked alongside. Heres what we discovered:

4 Academic Years
The other top bachelor of science degrees take 4 academic years to complete. That works out to

$34,377 / year
on average.
Full Sail has been ranked as one of the top schools alongside the other fine colleges and universities listed below. Weve researched the total in-school costs (tuition and fees) for one year of attendance at each of these schools, then multiplied that number by four to come up with an estimated cost for a 4-year bachelors degree at each institution. These are the numbers that were used to calculate the average cost of $137,510 listed above. Books, which can add anywhere from $700 - $1000 dollars per semester, are not included in these figures.

TUITION
APPLES & ORANGES
More food for thought.
Youve probably noticed a common theme throughout this guide Full Sail does things much differently than a traditional college, and we have fundamental reasons for doing things that way. Because of that, it can be very hard to directly compare a Full Sail education to that of a typical college. With that in mind, weve tried to outline a few things you should consider when youre facing the difficult task of comparing apples (Full Sail) to oranges (other colleges).

COMPARING

1/2
THE TIME

Full Sails Masters, Bachelors, and Associates Degrees can be completed in approximately half the time of degrees at most other colleges.

START ANYTIME

Full Sails degree programs can be started any month of the year. This means that you dont have to wait till the fall to begin your education.

GRADS COME OUT EVERY MONTH, NOT JUST TWICE A YEAR

As a Full Sail graduate, you dont have to graduate and enter the job market at the same time as the rest of the traditional college graduates.

GRADUATE SOONER, START FASTER

The sooner you graduate from college and start your career, the sooner you have the opportunity to start earning money, moving up the ladder, and paying back student loans.

COME BACK AND TAKE COURSES FOR FREE?

16

Yep if you ever want to brush up on your skills or maybe learn a few new ones, you can return to Full Sail and take any course within your degree program for free, on an available-seating basis.

THE COST OF LIVING
Full Sails Campus Bachelors Degrees typically take a little under two years to complete, which means youll need to fund a little under two years of housing and living expenses. If you end up choosing a traditional four-year school, youll probably need to pay for an additional two years of housing and food. Whatever you decide, be sure to do the math.

MORE EDUCATION

Though Full Sails Bachelors and Associates Degrees can be completed in a compressed time frame, the structure of the programs actually allows us to offer more credit hours than required for those degrees. For example, while a typical Bachelor of Science Degree is 120 Credit Hours* to graduate with a bachelor of science degree, Full Sails Bachelors Degrees actually contain between 119 - 145 Credit Hours, amounting to up to 20% more education. And while you only need to complete 60 Credit Hours* for an associate of science degree, Full Sails Associate Degree contains 88 Credit Hours, giving students up to 47% more education.
