ESSENTIAL QUALIFICATIONS:

The applicant must possess minimum educational qualification and experience as per approved ESIC regulations for recruitment of teaching faculty i.e. Professor, Associate Professor and Assistant Professor. Details are given below:Professor Essential for Medical Candidates (i) A recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council, Act, 1956. ( Holders of educational qualifications included in Part-II of the Third Schedule should also fulfil the conditions stipulated in section 13 (3) of the Act, );and (ii) a post graduate qualification e.g MD/MS(Doctor of Medicine/master of Surgery) or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in the respective subject or allied discipline Essential for Non-Medical Candidates (I) a postgraduate qualification i.e. Masters Degree in the concerned subject / or allied discipline; and (ii) a Doctorate degree from a recognized University in the respective subject or allied discipline.
Note: The respective subject or allied discipline should be as in the Table - I of Schedule I of the, Medical Council of India - Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, 1998.

Experience a) Four years teaching experience as a Reader or Associate Professor in a recognized medical college in the concerned specialty
Note: The transitory period of 4 years with effect from 24th July, 2009, the appointment or promotion to the post of Professor can be made by the institutes in accordance with the Medical Council of India - Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions Regulations, 1998 as prevailing before notification of Medical Council of India- Minimum Qualifications for Teachers in Medical Institutions (Amendment) Regulations, 2009.

OR b) Three years teaching experience as Associate Professor in the concerned specialty in a recognized medical college with minimum of four research publications in indexed or national journals provided that these research publications are published or accepted for publication in the Journals by the National Associations or Societies of the respective specialties as the First Author., and Further provided that the requirement of four research publications for promotion to the post of Professor should be taken on cumulative basis with minimum of two research publications must be published during the tenure of the Associate Professor.
Note 1: Qualifications with regard to experience are relaxable at the discretion of Selection Board in case of candidates otherwise well qualified.

Note 2: The qualifications regarding experience are relaxable at the discretion of the Selection Board in case of candidates belonging to Scheduled Castes or Scheduled Tribes. and if at any stage of selection, the Selection Board is of the opinion that sufficient number of candidates from these communities possessing the requisite experience are not likely to be avail able to fill of the vacancies reserved for them. Note 3: The experience should be recognized by the Medical Council of India or the statutory body concerned with the system of medicine as valid teaching experience for teaching posts and certificate thereof or any other valid proof in support thereof should be submitted and a certificate to this effect is to be submitted. Note 4: Teaching experience in any other post like the post of General Duty Medical Officer shall not be considered for eligibility purpose for recruitment to teaching posts.

Associate Professor: Essential for Medical Candidates (i) A recognized medical qualification included in the First or Second Schedule or Part-II of the Third Schedule to the Indian Medical Council, Act, 1956.(Holders of educational qualifications included in Part-II of the Third Schedule should also fulfill the conditions stipulated in section 13 (3) of the said Act, ); and (II) A post graduate qualification e.g Doctor of Medicine/Master of Surgery (MD/MS) or a recognized qualification equivalent thereto in the respective subject or allied discipline Essential for Non-Medical Candidates (I) A postgraduate qualification i.e. Masters Degree in the concerned subject or allied discipline (ii)A Doctorate degree from a recognized University in the respective subject or allied discipline.

EXPERIENCE: a. Five years teaching experience as Lecturer or Assistant Professor in a recognized medical college in the concerned specialty

post of Associate Professor should be fulfilled with two research publications must be published during the tenure of the Assistant Professor.

Experience: (a) For the candidates possessing doctor of medicine/Master of Surgery Degree (MD/MS) from Medical Council of India recognized medical colleges:

Three years teaching experience in the subjec as Resident or Registrar or demonstrator or Tutor in a recognized medical college either during the postgraduate course or after obtaining postgraduate degree in the subject.
(b) For the candidates possessing Diplomate of National Board (DNB)qualification from Medical Council of India recognized medical colleges or central institutes where the no doctor of medicine/master of surgery course running: Three years teaching experience in the subject in a recognized medical college either during the Diplomate of National Board course or after possessing DNB qualification. The concerned candidate would also require one year of additional teaching/research experience in the concerned subject in a recognized medical college after obtaining Diplomate of National Board qualification. (c) For candidates possessing Diplomate of National Board qualification from Medical Council of India recognized medical colleges or central institutes where there are doctor of medicine/Master of surgery course running: Three years teaching experience in the subject in a recognized medical college either during the Diplomate of National Board course or after obtaining Diploma from national Board qualification. (d) for the candidates possessing diplomate of National Board qualification from centers other than of Medical Council of India recognized medical colleges/central institutes: Three years teaching experience in the subject either during the Diplomate of National Board course or after possessing Diplomate of National Board qualification. The concerned candidate would require two years additional teaching experience as Senior resident/ or Research Associate(Council of Scientific and Industrial Research) in a Medical Council of India recognized medical college or central institute. (e) 'Research Experience': (a)For the candidates obtaining Diplomate of National Board qualification from centers other Medical Council of India recognized medical colleges or central institutes, the concerned candidate should have minimum two publications(accepted or published) in the index journal( National or International as first or second author). In case the concerned candidate does not have the required publication, he must have a total of three years teaching experience in a recognized college or central institute after possessing Diplomate of National Board qualification.

AGE LIMIT: Not exceeding 67 years as on cut off date for submission of application. (Cut off date is the date of interview).

PAY & ALLOWANCES: ESIC has adopted Sixth Central Pay Commission. Basic pay and other allowances shall be paid as admissible. 2 The retired Government Officers shall be paid emoluments in accordance with the rule in force as on date. 3 Other candidates appointed on contractual basis will be paid Basic Pay at the initial stage i.e. initial Basic Pay of the relevant Pay Scale and other allowances as per rules of the Corporation . 4 Pay as on date (Basic Pay + Grade Pay + NPA @ 25%{as admissible}) at initial stage for other candidates is as under. Initial Pay (Basic Pay+ Grade Pay + NPA @ 25%{as admissible}) in different categories is as under:1

Rs. 57625 Rs. 36875/Rs. 31,688 In addition to above other allowances like D.A., HRA etc would be payable as per admissibility. No private practice is allowed during the tenure of service with ESIC. Retirees from Central / State Govt. / PSU from the equivalent posts are eligible to apply. Persons working in recognized/approved Private Medical Institutions having sufficient experience at the desired level may also apply. The candidates have to produce the original and attested copies of all the relevant certificates/testimonials i.e. educational qualification, teaching experience, Pension Payment Order (PPO) etc. at the time of interview.

TERM OF CONTRACT

As per approved policy, contract will initially be for a period of two years extendable at a time for another one year as per requirement on satisfactory performance. Tenure beyond five years and the age of seventy tears, whichever is earlier, shall not be permissible. OTHER CONDITIONS:(i) Mere submission of application does not confer any right on the candidate to be interviewed. (ii) Application should be submitted in the prescribed manner/format only. The applications found to be incomplete will be summarily rejected. (iii) Wrong declarations/submission of false information or any other action contrary to law shall lead to cancellation of the candidature at any stage. (iv) Opportunity of interview given to candidates will be on provisional basis. (v) The interviews shall be conducted at ESIC Hospital & ODC (EZ) : Diamond Harbour Road : P.O. Joka : Kolkata-700104 on 20-3-2013 & 21-3-2013. The candidate should report to the above venue at 09:00 AM on the date of interview. ESIC reserves the right to change the centre, if needed.

SELECTION PROCESS: 1. The Selection will be made on the basis of performance of the candidate in interview before the selection Board. 2. Result will be communicated through e-mail/sms and will be displayed on web-site 3. Selected candidates will have to join within 07 working days after receipt of Offer of Appointment.

The ESIC reserves the right to cancel the recruitment process at any stage at its discretion and such decision will be binding on all concerned.
