This scholarship is for students that have demonstrated outstanding achievement in their activities in school, the community or the workplace. Scholarships are for students attending a technical school, community college or four-year university and amount varies. Students will be asked to describe in detail an outstanding achievement they have accomplished. Must be a US citizen or legal resident living or claiming residency in one of the 50 US states, District of Columbia or Puerto Rico. Must demonstrate ambition and self-drive as evidenced by outstanding achievement in school, community or work-related activities.

Templeton Press is sponsoring an essay contest that is open to any high school senior who intends to enroll at an institution of higher learning by fall of 2013. The contest has no special requirements; it only asks each entrant to write a thoughtful essay about his or her life's purpose. Contestants will be judged solely on the quality of their ideas and their ability to express themselves. The contest carries prizes ranging from $1,000 up to $5,000 and it runs through December 31, 2012.

Every year two scholarships in the amount of $5,000 each ($1,000 per year for up to five years) will be awarded. Applications need not be based on financial need. Basic requirements include: involvement in some sports activity, involvement in some community service activity, and minimum GPA 3.0. Scholarship winners will be expected to participate in the Scholarship fundraising golf tournament by entering a team (cost $75.00 per person) during the years they receive scholarship monies. Applications are available in the counseling office. Scholarship amount is $5,000. The aim of the scholarship program is to encourage students to pursue a course of study leading to a Bachelor or a Master of Science degree in Civil Engineering or one of the specialties within the Civil Engineering discipline. State of Washington who is planning to attend a college or university within Washington State, and is planning to major in Mathematics Education and pursue teaching certification in order to become a professional mathematics educator (eg. a math teacher - elementary or secondary) is eligible to apply for the High School Division Scholarship.
